Lots of laughs at a great price! The venue is a bit small but that just put us closer to the action on stage. Very well worth a night out on the town.

The Point: For children and families, I would give BBI a 4-star rating. However, their improv is advertised for more general audiences, which can lead to some misunderstanding about the type of show being offered. Suggestion: I think it would be a great improvement for BBI to intentionally advertise to families and children on their website and posters. This would provide clarity for individuals with and without families who are gauging what sort of show BBI is providing. Hope that helps :) !

Blue Blanket Improv is an inspired group of improvisational actors. I’ve seen several of their shows in Half Moon Bay over the past few months and they just keep getting better. My companion and I pretty much always come out with our cheek muscles aching from spending 2 hours in perma-grin! The group keeps up a fast pace, successfully and hilariously fielding delightfully bizarre suggestions from the audience, and providing an evening of marvelous entertainment at an extremely reasonable price. Soft drinks and little nibbles are available for purchase during the interval and, although the performance space is upstairs, there is a very cool chair lift for the stairs to enable access for people with mobility issues. The group is a non-profit, with money going to provide scholarships for students. Not only do you have huge amounts of fun — you feel good about where your money’s going too!

Find upcoming shows at: Best entertainment on the coast on any given night. Where else are you going to get a 2 hour show for less than a price of a movie(and your hard earned $ goes to a good cause — scholarships!). Each show is unique as its being created right then and there — this makes every improv show a high wire act — but BBI delivers sans safety net. Also several times a year BBI teaches workshops, and these are the most bang for your buck in the entire bay area — dont believe me? Do your own comparison(and let me know — cause seriously you WILLNOT find a better deal). Disclaimer: while i may be a bit biased — as I’ve been a part of BBI shows and workshops on more than one occasion, i’m also better informed :-)

I caught BBI in Half Moon Bay with my wife, and we had a ball. The group was funny fielding requests from the audience, but things really kicked in when members of the audience starting getting on stage and mixing it up. Perfect after-dinner entertainment — we’re looking forward to the next show.

I saw this group perform yesterday at the San Francisco Theater Festival and had some laughs. However, when I left, my cheeks weren’t sore from laughing so hard, nor did I have that giddy buzz I’ve gotten after a number of other improv shows. I short, they were funny, but not enough for me to try to see them perform again. That said, the kids in the audience seemed to be having a great time, so if you have children and you see that BBI is going to be performing near you, go ahead and try them out.
