On a Saturday recently I went into the store to sell some old instruments of mine. It was 3:55 and the store is supposed to close at 4. I realize that it was close to closing time but the open sign was still on. Upon approaching the proprietor was reluctant to help me because he was closing but proceeded to take my instruments so he could assess them over the weekend. I was told to come back on Monday. Upon returning on Monday the proprietor was not there and I had apparently wasted my gas driving 30 minutes based solely on his promise. The young man who was there was very apologetic and understanding of my frustration but that doesn’t put gas back in my tank. He told me the owner would be in the next day. Upon arriving the next day the same young man was waiting outside the shop for the owner to open it. It wasn’t until a half hour after the posted opening hours did he arrive. Knowing that I’d already been there before and was frustrated with the situation he proceeded to unlock the store and ignore me for 20 minutes for a phone call. I then told him that this was unacceptable and I wanted my instruments back. I was still ignored but the aforementioned employee was attentive enough to return my property. It’s no surprise that this store has relocated to smaller venues three times in the last 15 years. I will certainly never be returning there, and if you expect anything resembling decent customer service is recommend that you do the same. It’s obvious that the owner doesn’t take his business seriously and it’s more of a hobby for him.

I’ve been going here for years. Their technician Mark, as others have echoed, has given me tons of advice on doing my own repairs, has sold me spare parts, and does a great job fixing instruments. Their inventor mostly focuses on rock and blues guitars and drums. They have some Latin and ethnic instruments(bongos, djembes, I saw a sitar last time I was there) but this is not their specialty. Nonetheless, they will always point you in the right direction. I play classical guitar and some other unusual instruments(harp, ronroco, banjo) and although they haven’t always been able to help me, they’ll always try their best, and never pander or try to push sales. They have a small but decent collection of amplifiers, mics, and mixers for hobbyists and small bands. They will make special orders if you have a specific request. Since it’s a small place, sometimes orders will get lost. This can be a bit tedious, and you may have to remind them now and again. Their staff is so helpful that I’ve never really been bothered it.

Mark is the guitar tech at The Music Box and he does a great job. Over the years he has worked on several of my guitars and has always done a fantastic job. Mark’s turn around time is always fast. The store’s atmosphere is family friendly, a musical oasis, just a great place to shop.

Reid, Amy and all the staff at the Music Box are wonderful. Very personable service and work with you in reference to payment for lessons etc. Both my children take lessons there(guitar and voice) and I am very pleased. Give them a try. They are smaller compared to the other music store in the area, but can certainly will help with all your music needs.

Their tech, Mark, is the man. He is awesome. He allowed me, a complete stranger at the time, to sit in on one of his guitar setups so I could learn how to set my guitar up forever. Service is extremely friendly and helpful. They don’t feed you BS like other stores.
