I raced Leon’s triathlon a few years ago and the race was plagued with problems. They offered an all star wave and then emailed every single participant information telling them they were in the all star wave leading to a lot of confusion on where they were supposed to be. Packet pickup on race day showed up extremely late and the pre race announcements were almost impossible to hear. The race itself was actually four miles long in the bike. The race organizers admitted that they did know the race was long on race day(which is fine, at least they took responsibility), but then the race director(Leon Wolek) sent an email denying that they knew which bothered me. I registered again the following year and could not make it due to medical injury. I emailed the race director and never received a response. That same injury took me out of several races and this was the only race that I did not receive a response from. Most races have a certain number of spots available for transfer if you can present a doctors note, but this race refused to respond to my email with at least sorry you could not make it, no transfers allowed. In the end, I will not be back. This race represents just about everything that is wrong with the sport and I cannot believe USAT keeps certifying this race.
