We’ve been here three times now and have been quite pleased each time. The menu is diverse, but not overly busy. The filet, saffron fish stew, sautéed shrimp and scallops, and baked haddock were all nicely done. The bread is baked fresh. They have a small selection of quality micro brews on tap, a decent but not over priced wine list, and Jill shakes a mean martini! The place is small and can be a little loud when at full capacity, but well worth checking out. We’ll be back soon.

Went to Hagan’s Grille again last night! Jill, was our server again, and was very informative, attentive and cheery. Once again, both of our dinners were delicious. We got some bread fresh from the oven which was very good as well. I ordered the Oven Roasted New England Haddock, which came with the most delicious Parmesan Garlic Whipped Potatoes(and I am not really a fan of mashed potatoes normally), and asparagus. The fish was fresh, flaky, and delicious. My husband had the Grilled Rib Eye Steak with White Truffle Oil Pommes Frites(French fries). He said the steak was very tender, cooked perfectly, and was very flavorful. He also loved the French fries with the Truffle Oil. His meal also came with asparagus. I’d recommend this cozy, quaint restaurant for delicious meal’s and drinks, you’ll surely want to return to. .

Very disappointing. First a salad with browned lettuce and bizarrely placed onions on top, with somewhat stale bread. Then my husband had wild boar which was tough, and I had tempura tuna which was simply not good — too large a piece to cook well rare, and texture was reminiscent of frozen fish. Will not return.

Food is good but noise level even when the restaurant is not full makes this place undesirable for a nice romantic meal. Too bad.

My husband I eat here once a year around the third week of March as we are heading up to Freeport. We are so glad we found this place! Very easy to get back on the highway. We have always had a great meal with great service. This particular visit on St. Patty’s day 3−17−16, it was very busy. Our hostess replaced the table cloth to make us feel better without us even commenting on it. She had a wonderful smile and welcoming attitude. Our server Jake was covering multiple tables with great efficiency. It appeared they were short staffed and Jake took control so easily. Our meal was fabulous, he asked if we had any questions about the menu and checked in with us without us feeling like he was rushing to head off to another table. At the end of our meal I commended Jake about his wonderful attitude and ability to easily meet each tables needs. I learned this was Jakes first night as the waitstaff. He was covering for a fellow employee who had called in. He typically is the host. I would like commend the front of house manager and owners for not only training such a great staff but really meeting all the dining expectations. Looking forward to see you again next March!

We visit the seacoast probably once a year and have made a point to visit Hagan’s each time. It has never disappointed and this year was no exception. We had the lobster spring rolls as an appetizer. They were crispy and delicious. I had the taco of the day which was a crispy tempura haddock with a pineapple slaw and horseradish aioli. The flavours balanced beautifully. The serving of three tacos was more than generous. The fish was fresh and perfectly done. Last month we visited San Diego whose signature dish is fish tacos and these blew away anything we had there. Can’t beat that North Atlantic haddock. My husband had the saffron bouliabsse which had scallops, shrimp, salmon and mussels and he raved about it. And our server! She had personality plus and was wonderfully attentive even though she had several tables on the go. It’s not inexpensive — our bill with tip was over $ 90 for two cocktails a shared appetizer and two entrees– but well worth it for the quality of food and overall experience.

An excellent alternative to the sub-par food that is found around this area for tourists. Hagan’s features a pretty wide range of food types; there’s your bacon wrapped scallops and Caesar salad part of the menu, curry/coconut ahi ahi part of the menu, and a good mix in if steaks, pastas, and other fish dishes to round it out. Slightly French, slightly Caribbean, and a bit American. There are no corners cut here, everything is made in-house(except maybe salad dressings), and the food really shows it. Delicious flavors and beautiful plates. Now the portions might be a littttlle too big, and the plates are on the large side for presentation, but if that’s what I’m nit-picking, I’d say that’s a good thing. Two can comfortably eat and drink here for $ 50, or easily get into the $ 100+ range with a few choice selections… all worth it. Also, the bartender is excellent and knows how to make a great cocktail. This is the type of place you can also walk on in to the bar, settle in for a few hours, and eat amazing food. Makes a great date-night spot, or a good place to grab a drink and bite.

I like Hagen’s. It’s a comfortable atmosphere, and the bar area is small, but fun. Love the chef and the staff. The food is good, but you wish they would switch up the menu a bit. It’s a large menu, but even large menus get boring after a while. They changed the menu a while back, but just put a few of their regular specials on it and made a few other tweaks. Oh well. I still like the place.

Been living in the area during the summer for the past 12 years and never tried it. Went tonight for first time and would go back. I had the blackened mahi mahi special, my wife had the blacked chicken sandwich. Both meals were excellent. The chicken was a little spicy for my wives taste. For an app we had the beet salad, excellent!!! The bartender was very good, handled the entire car and numerous tables.

Having just moved to Hampton I was very happy to see there are some quality eateries around town. We’ve eaten there a few times now and all experience has been positive. We sit in the bar area, high top table, usually by the window where the food comes out. Note to yourself, sometimes it’s smoky and your clothes will smell. Bartender is very on ball and quick to bring out a fresh drink if your empty. All my meals have been excellent, salmon, tuna, steak etc. Sometimes the sauces are a little overwhelming but I’m a sauce fan. The owner/chef comes out and introduces himself and makes sure your happy with you meal. I will go back for sure.

Hagan’s grill seems to get mixed reviews what I’ve read online, but after eating there I was impressed. Hagan’s has an atmosphere that isn’t pretentious or trendy, but it does kind of look like a hipster paradise. Service was great, our waitress Jill, was very pleasant and effervescent. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. I got the Saffron Bouillabaisse and it was fucking FANTASTIC. I loved the sauce and it had generous amounts of seafood. My girlfriend got the Pan Seared Salmon that was a special that night, another amazing dish, LOTS of freshness in the lime cilantro salsa. We also got an order of the spinach ricotta gnocchi… this is where I was a little disappointed, the sauce was just flat, no real flavor or depth, almost like watered down ketchup; REALLY bad. I’m glad this was something we got to split, because if this was my main entrée I would be writing a totally different review. the gnocchi itself though seemed like it was cooked well. That rogue sauce on the gnocchi is the only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars, not 5. BUT the chef did come over and ask how our food was. I thought that was pretty classy.

Just tried this place tonight after reading the good reviews. It was even better than we expected! I had the garden salad with the cranberries & walnuts and added the grilled salmon because I saw good reviews on their salmon. It was perfect! My husband had the lobster ravioli with scallops and shrimp. It was superb! Compliments to the chef, and the service was great too!

I was here the same night as James, below, August 11th, and had a completely different experience! We had reservations for a table of 6 at 6:30. I was excited to go somewhere different and the reviews were great. We were seated immediately, but the server was a little slow to greet us and take our drink order. It seemed a long time for our drinks to come. I got the impression they were a little short staffed on the waitress side. Not a big deal, we were not in a rush. Appetizers were the hot thai wings, which no one liked, way too sweet, no heat. The lobster and crab cakes on the other hand? Amazing! Bacon wrapped scallops, great. We had a range of offerings from the menu. I had the fried seafood special, which had a little bit of everything, fried, all overcooked. My mom got the«surf & turf» and when they put it ion front of her, I thought it was the wrong order, steak and shrimp swimming in a gravy? It was not what was expected, but she did say it tasted OK. The worst was my husbands sirloin, ordered medium rare and served well done and gray. Unacceptable! Of course they cooked a new one, but come on, no one wants to sit there while everyone is eating and then get our dinner when everyone is done. Once it was cooked correctly, he said the steak was fine, nothing great. Service the entire time was very slow, we were barely looked in on for drink refills, etc. Then the worst part was? The chef came out and made the rounds to people’s tables, but did not bother to stop by our table that had the overcooked steak and offer some sort of apology. I might go back at some point, based on other reviews, we must have just hit a bad patch.

First time here after reading the great reviews; not disappointed. Made reservations for Sat. 7 p.m., table for 5 was ready w/water and waiting. Our server Karen greeted up quickly and told us to take our time, as we explained it was our first time to take in the menu. We took fried calamari to start & I also enjoyed/shared a cup of the seafood bisque – calamari was perfectly cooked w/a spicy remoulade sauce, and the bisque was nice and smooth; done w/a tasty rue. Our entrees arrived quickly after: Moroccan Pan Seared Ahi Tuna – amazing; two 4 oz. filets cooked perfectly & not overdone. Braised Short Ribs – very nice, but smaller portion. Melts in your mouth. Grilled Marinated Chicken Wrap – done w/rosemary but not overly spiced at all; perfect for kids & served with fries. Salmon with a sauce w/goat cheese; again, cooked to perfection. But the best meal of the night was mine, the Saffron Bouillabaisse! You need a good appetite, or share w/the table… you get a lot! Half lobster, Italian Sausage, Shrimp, Scallops, Mussels, Salmon & Garlic Bread; served in a saffron rue that tastes exquisite! The best seafood meal I’ve ever had. We were too stuffed for dessert, but we will be back again when we visit Hampton Beach. Save yourself from all the touristy deep-fried joints & try a place that isn’t as much $$$ as you’d think but has a highly skilled kitchen/chef that makes top-notch dishes. This would be the first place I recommend to anyone visity this area.

Hagan’s Grill was another restaurant seeming to fall short on service while excelling in taste. The entrance to the building led us through the bar into the dining area, where we were met by our server that seated us. It was a dim-lit atmosphere, tables lit by candle light, with a floor layout that separated the bar and the dining areas by a windowed wall. This made the dining area noisy. Immediately I noticed wine lists propped up on each table behind the candles, while the place settings were a basic layout; with a bread and butter plate and rolled up silverware settings placed on each, centered at each seat. There were paintings on the wall that seemed too new-age and modern even for my taste. The painting that loomed over our table read«home grown 10th generation marijuana» with a picture of a man pulling a cannabis leaf. The other paintings surrounding the dining area were indistinguishable colorful abstract shapes and bold faced lines. To say the least, these did nothing to add to the atmosphere nor did they compel me to buy food or beverages. Our server greeted us with food menus and a list of specials that included two cocktails, two starters, three entrees, and three desserts. The server did not offer a beer list, rather offered a few selections that the bar had available on draft. The server saw me fixated on the wine list and the food menu, and even after I had told her that I was looking to pair food with wine, she offered no incite, suggestions, or direction, rather just gave me more time to decide. For my meal, I went with the Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon, complemented with whipped potatoes and asparagus, all topped with a honey ginger butter, that was off of the specials menu. I paired my meal with a Pinot Noir. The food was wonderfully prepared and excellent in taste. Presentation looked fantastic, and enjoyed every bite. A knowledgeable service staff would definitely be an effective strategy to increase sales. A good server can open a guest up to food and wine pairings they may not have considered or would not have chosen prior to a sales pitch or even just a nice conversation from a passionate seller. If the server had stopped to offer her advice or recommendations on a few wine and food pairings when I was deciding on what I would wine and dine on for the night, I may have enjoyed my meal a lot more and gone with a starter and maybe an apéritif, finishing with a dessert complemented by a dessert wine or espresso martini(a cocktail featured on the specials menu but not mentioned at all throughout the course of the meal). Indeed, the service staff was lacking overall, and good wine sales come from a knowledgeable and passionate service staff that is eager to assist the guests and take initiative. A few suggestions: The place setting was far too basic. Bread and butter plates and silverware rolled up in cloth. Place fancy napkin folding, silverware in their appropriate setting, and wine glasses on the table if you want the guest to start thinking about dining with wine earlier on, and make them feel like a valued diner by taking the time on setting up a table that looks like it had been fitted just for them. Higher a sommelier to assist each table, approaching the guests with a presentable wine bottle to the table and carry out appropriate wine service. When our wines came to the table, I didn’t know if the wine was from the gutter or from a bottle. It simply arrived out of thin air. Overall, the food made it an enjoyable night out.

Went here last night for the first time, but it definitely will be the first of many! The owner is delightful, the staff is friendly and attentive– and the food was amazing. We decided to split some aps and a salad– and couldn’t have been more happy with our selections. Baked brie with a berry chutney, crab and lobster cakes and ahi tuna melted in our mouths! My boyfriend then added the beat salad, which he loved(I was full). The ambiance is misleading from the street, but once you are in this warm and stylish establishment you don’t want to leave! You might even see some people you know, which we did! It was the kind of place that you could have a romantic evening, or night out with the girls. If you are looking for a change and want to reward your palate– try Hagan’s.

After spending some time at North Beach, I decided to stop for dinner at Hagan’s Grill, which is located close to the US1(Lafayette Rd) and NH27(High St) intersection. This streetfront restaurant and bar is open for dinner at 5PM(Mon-Sat) and serves up contemporary American bistro cuisine with some international flair. They offer items such as Caprese Salad, Fish Burrito, ½ lb Burger, Lobster Spring Rolls, Lamb Chops, Grilled Salmon, Prosciutto Crusted Chicken, and NY Steak. See the menu at Nightly food and drink specials are also offered. The prices are moderate, appetizers $ 8-$ 14 and entrees $ 18-$ 24. The atmosphere is casual and cozy with wood floors and dim lighting. The place is divided in two sections with the bar area/kitchen to the right and the dining room to the left. I arrived here around 5PM and took a seat at a high top table in the bar area with a good view of the TV. The Monday menu was very limited with only a handful of regular menu items available, an abridged menu given. There were also some specials offered including filet mignon. The Corona bottles and Beef Tacos were only $ 2 each. The bar offers 6 beers on tap, as well as 19 bottled beers, wine, specialty martinis, and cocktails. I decided to stick with appetizers and ordered 2 Beef Tacos($ 4) and the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna($ 14). The Beef Tacos were pretty good, which had seasoned ground beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a sour cream dressing on grilled soft shell tortillas. The Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna was nicely presented with fresh tuna slices with Shoyu glaze, wasabi aioli, and a cold soba noodle salad in the center of the rectangular dish, chopsticks were provided! This cold appetizer was good, especially on a hot day outside. The service was laid back and friendly. My tacos were ready fairly quick, but sat up at the kitchen window for good 3 minutes before being served to me. I was also given one refill on my club soda($ 1.75) with lemon without asking when my second appetizer came out. The check came out to just under $ 22 with tax and before tip. Overall, pretty good, 3.5 stars. Closed on Sundays
