I would give this place zero stars if I could! Very unsanitary observed hosts touching her toes with her hands she then proceed to set tables with plates that was located next to her station w/o washing her hands.

This may have been one of our best spots to eat on our trip. The Poke Bowl and vegetarian taco salad was very good. Service may have been a little slow, but it was a very busy Sunday afternoon. It was fun to sit on the patio non a mid 80’s day and enjoy cold drinks.

We stopped in here tonight for some dinner & drinks after visiting the Hanalei caves over by the beach. Ambience: Casual/laid back. Not divey, but more of an upscale dive feel if you know what I mean. Family friendly as there were kids w/parents eating meals. Drinks: My friend had some beers I opted for the virgin Lava Flow. No complaints. My first lava flow & I loved the strawberry purée touch. Food: We shared the clams & mussels appetizer, which was so simple with ingredients but amazing! Garlic butter & white wine sauce w/garlic toast. Entrée was the Baja taco plate — we customized w one shrimp & one fish taco. Sides are rice & beans. Very good but nothing special there. Overall a great experience. 4 star rating is because it took awhile trying to get the bartenders’ attention when he WASN’T busy to take our orders, but that’s about it.

Like the overall setting, and love that they have numerous outdoor tables. Reasonably priced beer and a nice selection of draft beers from Hawaii as well as other small US breweries. Only tried the fish and chips and thought they were fine. Fish seem to be nice and fresh.

Wow what crappy bar tending Apparently a top shelf margarita has triple sec?! And bad attitude from a bartender who apparently finds the time to drink her red bull and not take your order

We’ve eaten here several times and enjoyed the pasta with whatever the fish special of the day is… magi mahi and Ono so far and it’s been delicious! Great strong drinks and customer service has been stellar. Will prob go several more times before our trip comes to an end.

Your local touristy joint to eat. The place opens out to the nice town or mountain backdrop. Great bar food, beer, and cocktails. Fish tacos were a bit dry but the rest of the food we had was great. Happy hour is 3 – 5.

Ryan and I can’t understand the 3 out of 5 star overall rating. If it weren’t for being ignored for the first 15 minutes of being here I’d give 5 stars(granted the steelers vs Broncos game was on so it was PACKED– but still no excuse for lack of attentiveness). Food was wonderful! Coconut shrimp appetizer was on point, the seared ahi poke stack was amazing, the cilantro vinegarette dressing on the side green salads was incredible! We’ll be back again before we leave!!! Also– great selection of on-tap beers!!!

It’s ok. Service was ok, food was ok(but overpriced), and atmosphere was ok. It took forever for our dinner and dessert to come out, so the kitchen must have been busy. It was an ok spot to have dinner.

This place has great atmosphere, really fantastic staff, and best of all delicious food. We had fried artichoke hearts to start followed by the ahi burger and fish tacos. The artichoke hearts had crispy exteriors and soft fall-apart insides. He fish tacos were absolutely delicious and were served with hot rice and beans. The drinks(piña colada and lava flow) we had were a wonderful way to take a break after hiking the Napali coast. If possible I strongly recommend visiting this location between 3−5pm since happy hour will be in full effect. Our bills(yes with an S — we loved this place so much we went multiple times) were a tad expensive but on par with the rest of the island.

The Huli Huli chicken marinated for 24 hrs is moist and peels off the bone. It’s not the most flavorful marinade however. The spicy hot wings were just great though. Crunchy and wet with sauce and really spicy. I would highly recommend them.

We’ve stopped in Kalypso a couple times now to watch football. Yesterday was a good day to sit at the bar and eat nachos, drink Bloody Mary’s, strawberry daiquiris, and beer whilst watching the Colts win over the undefeated Broncos. Way to go Luck! The macho nachos($ 12.95) are sizable for two but three could get a little crowded. We did without the added meat option and it still tasted great with all the helpings of black beans, jalapeños, tomatoes, cheese, black olives, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed the platter so I’d recommend it if you’re thinking about it. Our bartender was fantastic at keeping up with all the demand from customers eating and drinking their sorrows away and celebrating their victories. We remembered her from last year and she’s still providing the attentive and happy service. Sit at the bar. It’s a fun area to be in.

Loved the atmosphere. A great place for Sunday football and brunch. I had the Island style eggs florentine with a taro root patti made with veggies. It was delish. My partner had the omelette which was dry. My Mai Tai was heavy in the booze; his Bloody Mary was below par. Service is OK, seating was fab, the Jets loosing to SanDiego not so good. I’d come back again!

We’ve never had a bad meal at Kalypso, service is always good… we love it. This time was no different except our server, Melissa was outstanding. Six of us for dinner on a Saturday night. Only called to make a 7pm reservation about 3 hours earlier, no problem. Mahi Mahi was the fresh catch. I had their special, Cajun Seasoned Mahi in a cream sauce… it was wonderful! Other dishes were the Coconut Shrimp appetizer, Huli Huli Chicken(hubby said best meal of this trip), Chicken Parmesan, Crab Crusted Mahi. And the drinks… oh, yum! Caipirinha, Mai Tai, Kauai Tai, Chili Pepper & Lilikoi Margarita. Then dessert, Suicide Cake, Banana Caramel Xango and Mud Pie. We waddled out the door two hours later, very full and happy!

Great atmosphere, good food, service ok. The happy hour was nice. :-) Mai Tai, Your Tai, Everybody Tai! Would not recommend the chicken wings. Would definitely highly recommend the poke lettuce wraps! Anything fish here was very good. Veggy burger was awesome. Seafood pasta, would get again(because pasta is such a Hawaiian dish :-) Atmosphere is so comfy and inviting it could be an easy go-to spot any time.

More of a tourist place than an actual good restaurant. Not really comfortable to sit and the service wasn’t that nice either. The food was fine but definitely not worth the price. A little Chicken Sandwich for 13 $ without side of fries or anything. The sandwich was good anyhow but not really enjoyable in the place.

We came here on our honeymoon on the recommendation of a friend, and it even exceeded our expectations. The nachos were the half size happy hour portion but with the pork added were still plenty big for an entrée. I’m so stuffed right now. My wife got the Huli Huli chicken and it was phenomenal. Very tender and juicy chicken with a tangy sweet mango teriyaki sauce. To drink she got the cinnamon pineapple margarita(not a happy hour item) and I had the Kauai Tai(Mai Tai made with their local rum). We guzzled both like we just escaped the desert and that was all there was to drink.

We were staying up in Princeville, and Hanalei is the closest town with a variety of restaurants and shops. We seriously had no clue where to go since it was just a little after 1 pm, and it looked like the majority of tourists had already eaten or were just finishing up. Kalypso sits on a corner and has great views from the balcony tables. Luckily we got one. It’s always great when the hostess flashes a huge smile says hello and asks how many. We didn’t have to wait long. I’m not sure if some people understand what happens when you visit Kauai. The pace is slower… so much so you kinda forget what day it is. Our friendly server took our drink and appetizer order which gave us time to look over the menu. Good mai tais! The coconut shrimp were crispy, maybe a little too crispy but good. I ordered the club sandwich which came out on ciabatta roll, that I asked not to be toasted, and it came with sprouts which was a refreshing change. The partner had the chicken pesto sandwich which was very good. both came with waffle fries! The staff we encountered were friendly and the vibe is very chill! A nice breeze blew through the restaurant. This is a great place to have a relaxing lunch and forget about whatever it is you flew away from… LOL!

Atmosphere was fun with very open windows. Near many shops to visit while you are waiting for a table. Service was good from the hostess to the waitress. Tacos come with rice, beans, and salsa but no chips. Shrimp and fish tacos were great and had a yummy chipotle ranch drizzle. Tostada BBQ Mahi salad was amazing. Consider ordering without the tostada – Mine instantly fell apart and made it difficult to eat.

Visited after the beach. Very nice set up inside. Comfortable, laid-back dining with a very nice bar area. Extensive drink menu with many Hawaiian classics. I ordered a delicious spicy margarita. The food menu was well balanced between appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrées. I chose the chicken pesto sandwich. It was so delicious. For about $ 1.50 extra I ordered awesome waffle fries. Yummy! Service was very friendly and overall, the cleanliness was superb. Many locals recommended this place to me, I’m glad I went.
