I’m giving this place a 2 star only because the food was good and the waitress we had towards the end was really nice. Other than that the people that work there are rude. When my family and I walked in we were asked how many people in our party. It was 3 of us but my parents were on their way so we asked for 5. The girl questioned me if I was sure several times and finally gave us a table after rolling her eyes towards us. We felt extremely uncomfortable and nobody ever came to offer drinks. There was a customer that saw how we were treated by this girl and he complaint about it and we thanked him but the manager on duty never came to apologize or offer us drinks. We waited 30 minutes until we finally asked for help then after that the new waitress was really nice. My experience there wasn’t that good because we kept getting the evil eye from this girl and the manager on duty. We didn’t do anything to trigger this, but we were told she has her days. Why does she work there? I don’t know. All I know is that I am no longer taking my family there. I didn’t catch her name because when I asked they didn’t give it to me, but it was the girl with the fake Halloween blood dripping on the side of her lip. She was the rude one.

One of my favorite places to eat in Hanford. The food has a homemade quality to it that you just don’t find in most restaurants. Their daily specials change, usually a fish, beef and a Portuguese dish. The portions are hearty! Service is slow but not snail paced.

The servers were friendly, but service is very slow. The food leaves a lot to be desired. I had a BLT and the potato soup which resembled yellow glue.

Just a so-so American coffee shop with perhaps slightly above-average food. Certainly nothing here to draw foodies, except perhaps the pies/desserts(which I did not try, so I cannot vouch for, but they sure did look beautiful sitting there in the showcase). I only went here, because it was right next to my motel and I didn’t have to get a cab. I had chicken fried steak for breakfast and some kind of regular steak for dinner. Not memorable at all. Breakfast service was very good considering how busy they were, but the dinner service was slow which was unjustified since there were only 3 other tables with customers. The dessert-cart lady came around a couple times(during dinner hour), but she never stopped at my table — not sure why.

Not impressed at all. The food was mediocre at best and the service was terrible. I asked for a cinnamon roll to start the meal, it never showed up and I still got charged for it. Then my son didn’t eat all of his meal and we asked for a box. After 15 minutes the waitress took his plate, I thought to put it in a box, then she dumped his food in the trash.

Best place in hanford! Friendly servers, clean atmosphere, decent menu prices. We have been eating here for many years and rarely ever run into a problem. Obviously this place is very well run. There are other restaurants in hanford that make you think what are they doing?! Not ryans! Best burgers! Soups are always good. delicious pies!

Well the waitresses were soooo polite, but it took the cook 45 min. to make our food WTF? No special orders just basic off the menu items. If I owned this place, this cook would be UNEMPLOYED!!! I could tell my waitresses were struggling with this ass clown taking so long. I really felt sorry for them. Our food was decent, but I’ve had much better here. I won’t be back for some time!

Right across from our hotel. We came here on a whim. A big group of picky eaters and we all got exactly what we wanted! Great service great atmosphere great food.

I didn’t actually eat here. Here is the reason why. I stayed in the hotel across the street. At 515 in the morning, the landscaper for this place fired up his 50cc leaf blower and proceeded to wake puny wife my three kids and me. Varooom Varooom Varooom. Who the hell uses a leaf at 5am across from a hotel. And the noise ordnance for Hanford is 6 am anyways. Have some consideration for your neighbors.

I love love love this place. I’ve come here several times over the past couple of years, and I haven’t gotten a single thing that I thought tasted bad. This last trip I looked at their specials walking in and I saw that they had a Reuben sandwich. I love Reuben sandwiches, so I was super happy I saw that. The specials are listed by the front counter, so check them out or ask your waitress. The Reuben did not disappoint, even though they were out of rye bread and out it on sourdough. The corn-beef was tender, and it was pieces from a slow cooked roast, not just thin slices of meat. My only little complaint was that it was really greasy, and one half of my sandwich had fat still attached to the meat. But I knew it would be greasy, it is corn beef after all. My bf got a burger, I think it was the California burger because it had avocado on it, and he thought his food was good too. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the dining area is very outdated, but their main cline tale is the early bird special diners, so I’m sure they don’t mind. I’ve decided that’s how you can tell if a place is good, if it is filled with elderly ppl. They complain about almost everything, so if they keep coming back you know it’s good.

You know, I used to love coming to this place when I was little. The place used to be hopping with excitement, and the atmosphere used to be comforting. I remember when I actually had to wait for a table! But now, the place is open to anyone at anytime. The place looks outdated. It’s also run down, and completely layered with dust. I recently went to Ryan’s and when I sat down, the silverware and the table was covered by dust.(Gross!) Anyways, the ambiance was really awkward. No one else was in the restaurant and it was just my dad and I. They played the public radio while we were waiting and the servers were talking loudly about their personal lives. By the time we got our food, it was cold and stale. Like seriously, since we were the only ones there, you should cook to impress, not to depress. The food tasted awful! I had some chicken stuffed with some sort of vegetable and smothered in a yellow sauce. It wasn’t a good combination. But overall, the experience was too awkward to be in. If this place wants customers to come in, they need to improve their overall business strategy.

Saw this restaurant after visiting the bar across the street. Finally gave it a chance. This place reminds me of many Kitchen Nightmares episodes where a little work should be done to the dinning area. Ryan’s is a mixture of rustic and late 70’s design. The menu is typical with a mix of American traditional, Mexican, and Italian. It’s always a concern when there are so many selections on the menu. It should be noted the menu clearly states«our food is made from scratch and prepared daily.» more on that in a bit. There were 19 diners seated for lunch. 15 were senior citizens, 2 mid-thirties having coffee, and my girlfriend and I. So why is Ryan’s for popular with the seniors? The menu answered the question, senior specials. I applaud Ryan’s for providing a discounted senior meal. Just as we were about to order, two ladies had just finished their lunch. I was quite surprised at the quantity of food left on their plates. So this begs the question, was it quantity or quality which caused for so much to be left? For now, I will go with quantity. So, time to order. My GF ordered the Caribbean mango chicken, with a side of Portuguese beans while I ordered the vegetable soup and a Heineken. While waiting for lunch, I noticed three servers. One of which was eating at the counter, one stood at the register, while the third was placing food on a dish cart to be served. I couldn’t believe carts are still used for delivering food. The last time I remember a cart being used was for table side salad preparation. But back to the point, as the cook pushed out the plates, the server loaded the cart. However the cook hadn’t finished the entire order yet so the food sat on the cart between 5 – 10 minutes. So, 20 minutes in, the server tells us our food is coming up next. Finally the food arrives, the salad was quite larger with plenty of mango chunks and the soup/beans were edible. It should be noted the server did not return until the check was sat on the table. I find it a bit disappointing to receive the check before being asked if we wanted anything else. So as the server sat the check on the table I asked when the beans and soup were made. Before I got an answer, she was willing to remove them from the check. I told her no, it wasn’t about disliking the food, but more so curious as to when both the beans and the soup had been prepared. Both had quite a bit of flavor which would be near impossible to achieve if either had been made fresh daily. Further, the Portuguese beans which are typically prepared with linguica which had what appeared to have the same ¼″ by ¼″ pieces of beef in it as in the soup. The server told me both had been prepared yesterday which was a bit of a relief as I know it takes quite a bit of time to make either flavorful. Closing thoughts, bravo to Ryan’s for recognizing seniors and providing a discounted selection. However, this causes for non-seniors to pay handsomely for basic meals. Meaning their prices are above the norm for like meals elsewhere. The next visit will be to try their breakfast selction.

Let me preface this review by simply saying that we only had take out pie. So, I can’t comment on the sit down restaurant service or the other food. But, let me tell you about the pie. So, we’re sitting here on Sunday morning, watching some tv show that starts talking about pie. We all collectively decide we need pie. But not crappy supermarket pie, we want some decent pie. And we don’t want to pay for a stupid pie plate. I’m talking to you, Marie C. I start thinking of the local places, diners that might have pie. I remember Ryans, but we’ve never been here before, so in not sure what to expect. Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers, I decide to take a chance, my husband calls to see what kind of pies they have, and I’m delighted as I hear the lady in the phone listing off all sorts of wonderful sounding pies. My husband goes and returns home with apple and lemon meringue pie. The apple pie was delightful, we heated it up and all agreed that it was just what we were looking for. The lemon meringue pie, I have to pause here for a moment, to let it sink in to you how divine this lemon meringue pie was. Pause. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good lemon meringue pie, and this one may be one of the best I’ve had. So, that’s my review. Pie. Oh yes please. I’ll have to remember to come here and try the food sometime. I’ll let ya’all know just as soon as that happens.

Ryan’s is one of the those places that is kind of a GOTO restaurant. It’s a standard here in Hanford. I’ve been coming here off and on for years now. The food is usually really good and the service is always good. Some of the waitresses hv bn there for years. So they must treat their employees well. Normally I jst go for breakfast. But occasionally I’ll go for dinner. This morning we went for breakfast. If u haven’t had their pies. Then u are missing out. These pies are off the hook good. This morning I was craving a spinach n mushroom omelet. I wasn’t disappointed with my choice of where to get one. Ryan’s give u jst the right portions of food. Not too much or too little. My wife had the sirloin steak special with two eggs and home fries. Lucky for me my lovely wife eats like a bird. Cz that means I get to pilfer what she can’t finish. Ha ha. Her sirloin steak was no exception. The steak was very tasty and juicy. A little tough. But good nevertheless. My omlete was great. Not over cooked and topped with jack cheese. A great way to start the day! Good job Ryan’s!

This was a great lil stop. My Benedict was very filling. We also ordered the French toast, which had good flavor. The pies looked great but we didn’t have any room for them. The service was really friendly and made the atmosphere really welcoming. Nice place to stop at for breakfast

Good service, terrible cheeseburger. Who charges an extra dollar for a slice of shitty American cheese on a burger and calls it a double?! I order a double cheeseburger I expect 2 patties, not just an extra $.25 worth of Kraft«cheese». Not to mention the patty I did receive was a charred dry puck and the steak fries were a mixed basket of undercooked fries and heat lamped old ones. This meal was so not worth the money.

After thinking Ryan’s Place was my favorite home style restaurant for a long time, one too many bouts(3−4times in a row) of «I don’t give a hang attitude» has stopped me from returning. I probably will go back someday when my memory of the«attitude» fades, but it probably will be a while. I do like the laid back atmosphere and most of the food. The purists wouldn’t appreciate them but even the stove top ribs– pork or beef are enjoyable. Just don’t look for a smoke ring or any other sign that the meat has ever seen a BBQ grill. I really hope they get and maintain some badly needed attitude adjustment.

Back a few years ago I was a Ryan’s place junkie. It seemed like every sunday after church we would go, or whenever my Pops wanted to take us all out. The food was really good then and it hasnt changed. I recently went here the other night after going to Chilis and was told they’d be closing in 30min, then driving to Denny’s and they had a sign in the door saying they would only be serving pie, coffee and salads while they had repairs done. My husband and I were very hungry and didnt want to eat at Applebee’s. We found out Ryan’s was the only place open so we went. I only avoided going here for so long because it was where my Dad always took us and even after his passing 6yrs ago I still find it painful to even drive by here. I am glad I went though. It brought back really great memories and the food was still pretty good and reasonably priced. I ordered the Patty Melt and should have paid more attention cause they serve it w/Swiss here and I prefer American. When it came out though I was not disappointed, plus it was REAL swiss, not like some other places that call it swiss when it’s just processed and colored white. My husband had the California Burger and he said it was good. I look forward to coming back for the food, and to create new memories while reminiscing about the old ones.
