I go here to get my eyelashes done by kelly weekly and i get my hair done by Amanda Dauphinee and I am always very pleased.

I have to start my review by saying that I have NEVER received so many compliments on my hair color!
(I change my hair color often)
I see Sam G. for my cut/​color/​style and I couldn’t ask for a better stylist. Every time I have my hair done it looks amazing and I always leave happy. She’s extremely knowledgable on all things hair and really knows how to produce what I’m looking for!
The salon is always clean and the spa upstairs is fantastic! Really a top notch place! :)

Wow!!! I went into Charles David in Plymouth and, was totally impressed. The salon coordinator was so nice and welcoming. Casey is phenomenal. Prior to my visit, I had dry damaged curly hair. I thought I could never restore my naturally curly hair. I was wrong! Casey is extremely attentive and down to earth. She saved my hair!!! I am so thankful I found an amazing hair stylist!!!

Very happy client here for over a year now! I see Melissa L. for color and have seen many different stylists for cuts (Breanne, Rachael, and Nichole). They sell a wide variety of products and not only one brand which is great. The stylists also do not push products on you, refreshing!

I’m surprised at how many people fall for their semblance of professionalism. I’ll leave out the girl’s name but she didn’t even have me put on gloves before asking me to grab my freshly waxed skin and pull it taught to help her wax it. Nor did she ask me to fill out an allergy form. Real professional…

I have never felt so comfortable with a salon and stylist as I do going to Charles David and seeing Emma. I fully trust Emma and I appreciate her attention to detail and consistent excellent work. It is a rare find to find both a great stylist and a great salon. The customer service is superior and I know the owner takes pride in the talent and experience of the stylists there and invests in their education/​training. It shows in their work as I have never had a complaint after years of going to Emma. My highlights always look beautiful and my cuts are always exactly what I am looking for. It is important to me that she really listens to me and is truly talented. My first visit here was after a horrible experience at a Newbury Street salon in Boston and Emma’s ability to fix all the issues was amazing and way beyond my expectations given the state of my hair. I couldn’t be happier with my experiences here!!!

I went here the other day and got a classic facial by Elizabeth. I was so impressed. The moment I walked through the doors I was immediately greeted by a perky reception desk. The salon is two floors and the the spa section is up on the second. I went upstairs and another reception desk was there. They led to me the salon room to change into a robe and slippers. They have a locker with a key to keep your belongings secured while in the spa and then I waited in the tranquility room for my appointment that had chaise lounge chairs and a relaxing atmosphere. Elizabeth grabbed me from there and offered some water. The facial I received was far better than others I have had at other local top rated spas in the area. She was very thorough. Multiple treatments and explanations to keep me in the loop which I appreciate. In between she placed a warm damp towel which I believe had some tea tree oil to open my pores. There was many little things that impressed me during the facial but I left with a fresh face and relaxed mind. I have received so many complements on how my skin has been looking after the facial. I then made an appointment for a color with a stylist Nichole. Again same experience in walking in to a perky receptionist. I was a bit early so sat to wait, offered a option of tea, coffee, lemonade, water or cookies. I then went back to the chair to meet a bubbly stylist who took the time to discuss with me the color i wished to achieve. Brought me to swatches so I could have a visual of different tones of the color. Very knowledgable and you could see how passionate she was about what she was doing. The color came out fabulous, just what I was looking for. The blow dry gave my hair volume I am unable to achieve. I was interested in a product and the stylist took the time to explain the product and recommended other products and explanations if I enjoyed it. I even received a sample. As I was checking out I discovered my very knowledgable and professional stylist was actually new to taking clients! I was so impressed with the skill level! When I complimented her she informed me of the continuing education the salon offers to staff She had been working there for a year and half but worked under stylists and attended class before taking clients on the floor. I can’t say enough about the quality of service and high level of customer service I receive at Charles David!

I am loyal to Rachel at Charles David in Hanover for my highlights and haircuts. She is hands-​down the best and most professional stylist I’ve ever been to. I used to work in Back Bay and have frequented many of the high end Newbury Street Salons.
I always leave the salon feeling like a new woman and I’m very particular about my blonde highlights, so that says a lot! The prices are reasonable and it’s not too hard to get an appointment. Rachel is also ALWAYS on time which I really appreciate as a busy mom.
The atmosphere at Charles David feels like it is getting a little dated compared to other places… but they do use the latest products and techniques so I can easily look past it. This salon is always immaculate too!
I highly recommend!
Make sure you have cash for tip because you cannot include it on your CC. They do have an ATM there in case you forget, which I have many times :)

Best salon on the South Shore!
Let’s start from the beginning… I started going to CD after two different friends suggested it. I came in with botched color (which I learned was overly saturated with black hair color) and poor expectations after being told by other salons that my color could not be fixed. Luckily I met the goddess of hair color, Melissa L., and she reassured me that she could, in fact, bring my color back to brown. She was very honest and I appreciated it. She said that she could not fix it over night and it would be a process but it would be worth it. Trust me… It has been! My color is amazing now and I get compliments all the time. I tell everyone I know to see her.
Melissa L. specializes in color so I see someone else for my cuts. I see either Brianne or Emma and both of them are spectacular! I can not say enough about them! They are both extremely skilled at cutting and styling. I see one of them for every event that I attend (weddings, etc) and plan on having them do m hair when I am married in July 2014. All three of them truly have an artistic gift!

I recently got married and my bridesmaids, my mom, mother in law and I all got our hair done here. I was happy with all of the updos and would definitely recommend this salon. They have a huge salon with multiple stylists, so you can get your entire wedding party in and out in less than an hour
Melissa did my updo… she did a great job! It came exactly the way I wanted it to and lasted the whole night without a single piece falling out.

I’ve had my relationship with Charles David Salon for about 8 years now. It started when I needed to find someone to correct overly processed highlights that I received elsewhere and a couple of my mom’s co-​workers recommended Charles David. I’ve been hooked ever since! I saw Amanda to correct my highlights and immediately she understood what I was looking for and corrected my hair with ease. I’ve been a loyal customer since and she is the only person that I 100% trust with my hair!!! We’re always on the same page for cut and color and we’ve been around the block from short to long, light to dark with my hair. I used a friend of my friend at another salon while Amanda was on maternity leave a few years ago but I should’ve used Amanda’s recommendation at the salon b/​c the cuts were just not as good! I will be having Amanda do my hair FOREVER!
I’ve also seen Patricia for a couple perms to give my hair some curl and body over the last year and she’s great as well. Her and Amanda discussed what they thought would be best and seamlessly managed my hair care experience!
I started seeing Jessica for my facials and waxing over the last 2 yrs or so. She is amazing! Taught me how to stop my eyebrows from breaking out after waxing and has given me tons of great skin care and makeup tips!
The desk staff is always amazing! Most of them know me by name (does that mean I go there too much?!) and always friendly and welcoming! They are patient with appointment booking and great at coordinating services as best they can!
All in all, I love this place and won’t be going anywhere else anytime soon!

The customer service is top notch, the owners are THE BEST people on the planet and everyone works so hard to please there. I have never met a more dedicated and loving staff.
Plus, it must be said that this salon really knows how to give back to the community. They are HUGE supporters of South Shore Cancer Center and the Ellie Fund and are to be commended for their dedication to families fighting cancer. Love these folks.

Casey D. is the best hair sylist I’ve ever seen! No one thus far has had the expertise with a blow dryer as she does. She is an attentive, extraordinarily generous perfectionist, and I can always trust my hair will come out fabulous! If you have curly hair (or not), don’t settle for anything less. The ladies at Charles David, including receptionists, have volunteered their time providing makeovers for the homeless as part of my ‘Life Starts Now’ organization, and I want to take this opportunity to recognize their selflessness, Casey being at the forefront! They have been a mindblowing contribution to me and countless others!

I have been going to Charles David for years now for my color and cut. Casey Dooley is a Master at color and she is amazing. I have never left there unhappy. I would highly recommend Casey. She also takes a lot of continuing ed classes so she is up to date on all of the latest styles and what is new in the industry.

Once again… I Love my new hair color! Thanks Melissa Dodge!

So after I played hairdresser and attempted (and failed miserably) to color my hair myself I almost cried when the color could be described as «when barbie meets big bird». I immediately called Charles David, because I’ve heard they’re the best in the area. They were able to squeeze me in the next morning with a color specialist.
Theresa was so understanding and didn’t judge me for my hair mishap… even though the color made her speechless for a moment. I told her she could do whatever she needed, short of shaving all my hair off, to make my hair look like a normal color. She was so patient and sweet… even after 3 glaze treatments and two and a half hours later.
All the staff at CharlesDavid are so attentive– always asking if I wanted something to drink, or a magazine to read. From the front desk to the check-​out, everybody was friendly, smiling, and happy to help.
My hair, now caramel brown, feels silky and looks natural (thank the good lord). I don’t think I can go anywhere else after this wonderful experience, they saved my hair. CharlesDavid is truly the best of the best!

I went here for spa week recently, and I have mixed feelings…
The treatment I booked was a bamboo massage for $ 50. I booked with a friend and our appointments were back-​to-​back. We were told when booking that when one of us was getting a massage, the other one could use the spa facilities, and vice versa. We figured that was great!
It was understandably a busy day, so it was a bit of a cluster getting to the right place in the huge building. Overall, everyone was nice about it. We were given lockers and shown the spa facilities. So far, so good.
I went first in the massage. Now, I had no idea what I was walking into but it was not something i’d book again. The ‘normal’ massage part was good, but the bamboo just plain HURT as it was rolled down my back. Not relaxing and minimally therapeutic.
The worst, however, is that there was no relaxing spa experience, because there was so much noise in the hallway outside the treatment room door. People yelling, screaming, kids… the technician apologized but even after she asked people to be quiet, it never became the serene experience that I hope for in a massage.
At the end of my massage (when my friend was getting ready to come in), I was told I could only use the spa facilities if the NEXT person waiting wasn’t using them. Not what I had been told before. I used the steam/​sauna for about 10 minutes before feeling guilty that I wasn’t ‘supposed’ to be there so I left.
The best surprise of the day was the blow-​out at the end. It was great to have my hair washed & styled after treatments.
Overall, it was worth the money I spent, even after tipping. However, if I did this again I would book a different type of massage for sure.

I recently had my hair and makeup done here as a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding. I loved my hair. Alexia did it it great. She spent a lot of time listening to what I want I wanted and even changed it somewhat part way through when I wasn’t liking how it was looking. I liked my half up-​do just fine.
My makeup was another story. Jessica from Bare Essentials did my makeup. She listened to me talk about my concerns. my eyebrows and eyelashes are very blonde and I wanted her to make them standout but in a subtle way that I’m comfortable with. She put brow powder AND brow mascara on my eyebrows. They were far far too dark. After allowing me to curl my own eyelashes (upon request), she caked on so much mascara that it weighed down my lashes and clumped them together horribly. I liked my foundation but that is it. She listened to the color that I wanted on my eyeshadow, but the eyeliner and eyeshadow application were poorly done. The eyeliner smudged onto my eyelids while I was still in the chair!
Needless to say, I went home and applied my own eyeshadow and liner over this poorly done job.
I loved the service at Charles David, but I paid $ 65 for event makeup that was not worth it!

Dare I say it? My quest for the perfect haircut has finally ended!
I just saw Casey at Charles David Salon a few Saturdays ago. She is PHENOMENAL. She is unfailingly patient, kind, super personable, fun (without even a hint of fakeness or arrogance, that in my unfortunate experiences with people in the beauty industry is all too common!) and, most importantly, TALENTED! I received the best haircut I’m sure I’ve ever had, and hands down the Best. Blowout. Ever. Curly girls, meet your dream stylist!
I really can’t say enough glowing things about Casey, and I can’t wait to ask her to do my color. I love that she’s so beyond talented, yet she actually listens to what you want and your ideas, and you immediately feel that you can really trust her to give you a fabulous cut, and the icing on the cake… she’s also a lovely person.
Wish I could give her a zillion stars!
(The salon itself is fabulous, too… all of the staff are very warm and personable. The environment is very welcoming and aesthetically very pleasing; large, open salon, well-​lit, clean, organized, drinks offered, etc. etc. Love it.)
