My first time ever trying Thai food(because it was something close to work) and I very much enjoyed it! You can’t go wrong with the chicken pad Thai

I’ve been here twice and the food and service were consistently great! We had the royal dip, stuffed chicken wings, tomyum soup, Thai beef salad(spicy!), pad Thai and the paneang curry! Every dish ordered was full of flavor and extremely good! Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in the city!

I have came here for lunch at least once a week since I found this place. Everything I have tried has been delicious, but i really like the curry dishes. I have them add extra veggies and that makes for a perfect lunch!

The Shrimp pad thai was good. I’m glad I read the reviews because if I had just driven by, I would have kept on driving. The dish had 3 – 4 large shrimp, nice serving, but a little to oily for my taste. It did have overall good flavor and spice level. I’d dine there again if in the neighborhood but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

Awesome thai food! Only place that delivers when I ask for extra spicy. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is very pleasant. Big portions for a great price. Will continue to dine here when craving for Thai food.

The first time we went to the Royal Thai was due to the number of Unilocalers that had written rave reviews about the restaurant. The second and following times were because the food was great. I’m not much of an expert on Thai food, so I have been having fun trying a new dish each time I go. I would have to say that the pineapple fried rice with shrimp added and the shrimp pad Thai have been my favorites so far, but I may discover a new one as I keep exploring the menu. The most interesting dish was the Thai stuffed chicken wings. Décor is minimalistic. It is obvious that the food is a higher priority. Service has been great. The kitchen is busier than it looks from the occupied tables as there seems to be a constant stream of people picking up to-go orders. Only real improvement I would recommend is to have better lit signage after dark so you can tell if the restaurant is open or not.

Well let’s see. I want to give this place a better review but I can’t just yet. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t bad at all just not mind blowing. The little Thai joint is very clean and cute. The staff was super friendly but I think I should have stuck to my guns about what I wanted to order. I’m not a Thai professional but I know what I like. I was feeling kind of adventurous so I asked what the waitress recommended but it seemed as though she was just pointing at stuff on the menu. I ended up getting basil eggplant which was extremely spicy! The appetizers were ok. Curry chicken pockets and shrimp shumai which are dumplings. Those were great but I’m definitely a sucker for a steamed dumpling! Dessert was pretty good. It was a sweet sticky rice with custard on top. We added ice cream and it made it twice as good! I will absolutely try this place again but I will go with my beloved panang:)

I had been reading all the great Unilocal reviews about this new place and looked forward to trying them out. I met one of my friends there for dinner on a Friday night. It’s a very small place. We were seated right away. The place never got packed. I guess they get more crowded at lunch? I got the Shrimp Pad Thai and my friend got the Vegetable Pad Thai. Both plates were delicious and loaded with a good portion of big shrimp on mine and veggies on hers. We had enough to take for leftovers as well. Definitely a nice place for Thai!

Best Thai food in the area! The chef in the kitchen(think someone’s mama) used to be a chef at Café Equator by Lakeside Mall. I haven’t had a bad dish here yet and service is great

I hate this place. Seriously, I do. I hate that is has some of the best Thai food I’ve had in the area. I hate that the service is spot-on. I hate that the lunch prices even extend to Saturdays. But mostly… What really makes me HATE this place… is the fact that it’s a hassle to get to from Algiers Point. At least it’s not across the lake like our other favorite Thai place. So that’s something, I guess. We stopped in on Saturday(½/16) at around 12:30. There was another couple there but other than that, empty. By the time we were done eating, the place was filling up nicely. As a matter of fact, a huge group of cars were all parking when we left. I don’t know if they had room enough to feed everyone. As was mentioned, the decorations are minimal and the seating is… odd. Comfy booths against one wall with uncomfortable chairs on the other side of standard/small tables. We solved that problem by sitting against the wall side by side. But you can tell they need more space already. After checking the menu online, I knew I wanted to try the royal dip. When we got there, however, The Girly decided she wanted the curry puffs instead. They were delicious but very small. I could have eaten 4 orders by myself, easily. I wish they would add one more to the order so people could split them evenly. Even numbers really work best for sharing apps(Just something to consider). I ordered the drunken noodles(spicy) and The Girly ordered Pad Thai(Spicy). She hadn’t had Pad Thai in some time so was worried about ordering it at an untested place. but she did it anyway. Both meals came out fairly fast and VERY hot. No sitting in the pass here. The wait-staff know how to move orders. Neither dish was spicy enough. I’m not blaming them for that though. I hear a lot of stories about Americans ordering spicy Thai food and then sending it back because it was too spicy. So I expected to have to ask for spices. The waitress brought me Sriracha, Sambal(I believe), jalapenos in vinegar, and chili flakes . After a little dosing for both of us, we tucked in. Amazingly well done drunken noodles with large, snappy shrimp and perfectly cut peppers(I hate when places use large squares of bell peppers, julienned is where it’s at). Much easier to eat with chopsticks. Now I’m not a huge fan of Pad Thai. It usually tastes too tomatoey for my liking. While this still had that flavor, it wasn’t as strong and The Girly really loved it. Enough that she finished every bite of hers while I couldn’t quite finish mine off. By the time we were done, we were full, had a nice endorphin buzz, and The Girly’s lips were purple from the spice. Which is exactly how we like to finish a Thai meal. If they ever move closer to Algiers Point, I will stop hating them so much. I’m glad to have this place be my first review of 2016. I can’t wait to go back.

Since I live close to here, I was super excited to see another Thai restaurant open up since its my favorite food. Its a very small restaurant with minimalist décor. The size of the place is big enough for the area they are serving since its basically in a neighborhood. Great for those who work in Elmwood business park too! When we arrived at 1 on a Saturday only a few other tables were occupied so we were told to sit anywhere we liked. Since it was our first time we wanted to try a little of everything. So we got an appetizer, soup, and entrée. For our appetizer we chose the panfried chicken dumplings which were very good and flavorful. They could have been seared a little less because the bottoms were a little overdone, but still good nonetheless. The coconut soup was my favorite and think it could possibly be my favorite coconut soup, ever! The pad thai was good and very flavorful, more on the spicy side than sweet. Their lunch specials are fantastic! The portion was huge and only $ 7! They even have lunch prices on Saturday, nice! The prices for dinner still aren’t that bad though. I thought the service was really good and all the girls working were very sweet. Our food came out pretty quick and they were on top of the refills. I hope this places sticks around because its nice to have a Thai option so close by! I can’t wait to go back and try some other things on the menu.

I’ll be the first to admit I know nothing about Thai food. I also think I was spoiled by my very first experience because I had authentic home cooked Thai the first time I ever tried it. I felt my expectations were high even though I’m inexperienced with this type of food. On a whim I decided to give Royal Thai a try, and I was so impressed! Everything we ordered came out hot and fresh and was also really tasty! We ordered a couple appetizers which were perfectly portioned, and delicious. I also ordered the shrimp pad Thai, and I must say it was so full of flavor, absolutely delicious! I’d go back in a heartbeat and order it again. My family and I had a very pleasant experience here, and we plan to dine here again. If you try Royal Thai I hope you have as great an experience as I did.

Beautifully well done Thai food in the Elmwood area? indeed it is so. If you are looking for simple, true to form Thai, look no further than Royal Thai. THe only negative with my yummy Drunken Noodles, was that the noodles were all broken into small pieces, and it is easier to enjoy them in long whole noodles. Other wise, the flavore was dead spot on and the help was amazingly friendly.

What a delicious lunch! And the lunch special prices are great and then run them on Saturday too. We started with the royal dip appetizer. The consistency is quite thin, but what it lacks in chip clinging ability it more than makes up for in flavor! If our entrees hadn’t arrived as we were finishing the dip, I would have been tempted to polish it off with the provided spoon. Our entrees were both off the lunch menu. We shared a Panang curry and a pad woon sen. Both were absolutely delicious. Such wonderful, complex flavors, I couldn’t shovel it down fast enough. If you don’t mind a little heat, ask for some chili oil to add a little punch to both dishes. Be careful not to add too much though, the stuff is potent. Our server was also super attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back!

I’m from Texas and we have a plethora of Thai restaurant around. Sorry but this place does not cut it for me. So they are new and quite slow, but I’m not gonna hold that against them. The food however… Maybe the food will improve over time, but today was not good. Fried chicken wings(not the stuffed one) — very sweet and lacking something to balance the sweetness, like ginger/lemongrass/lime? It can definitely improve a bit. Pad see ew– my all time, hands down favorite dish. This did not make the top 50 list or on any of my lists. The noodles were not the big fat soft fresh steaming noodles. They were fairly thin and undercook. The noodles were dry and a bit hard. It didn’t have enough sauce in it to help either. I took a couple of bites and then stopped. I couldn’t eat it at all. Egg roll — was a bit soggy and mushy. Don’t know if they cooked a big batch for lunch and it’s been sitting there too long on an oily napkin, but half of it was soggy. So didn’t finish that either. I was very disappointed with this place. Maybe months and months from now, their food and service will improve. I’m sure the service improvement will be easy once they get more help. It seemed very short handed for lunch hour.

Straight to the point. I love this place! The service is so wonderful. Patrick — who I believe is also the owner — is the sweetest, most cuddly man ever! You’ll fall in love with both him and the food. Speaking of which… my family and I opted for 3 starters(royal Thai beef salad, fried calamari, and stuffed chicken wings) and 2 entrees(tom yum fried rice w/shrimp and pad woon sen w/beef). All delicious and all for a great price. It’s a good sign when you hear customers/employees say to each other«alright, I’ll probably see you again later this week!» or «I brought my so and so(insert family or friend) here this time!» Bottom line is: I’ll definitely be coming back!
