The Hickory House

Had the grab bag (2 pieces fried chicken and a roll). The wing was basically meatless. However, the other piece of meat was moist and the coating was good flavor. The roll was sweet, warm, and buttery. Not sure I’ve ever been to a dirtier restaurant though. The lady at the counter… not so friendly.

Wasn’t able to get ribs because they were out! Strike one! Also no crabs or any seafood was available from their large seafood menu on the wall, maybe a seasonal issue? I didn’t want to ask the woman behind the counter because she was arragant and as mean as a snake! I opted for a combo plate of chicken and brisket for about $ 15.00. I got a miserable small piece of boney ass chicken and small portion of brisket. Both were fairly good. I got a side of green beans which were right out of a can and tasted so. I also got the mac and cheese which was very good! I don’t think I would ever go back as there was nothing special about this place, except for the woman behind the counter who was exceptionaly unfriendly!

If you are looking for an authentic bbq place this is the place to go! Best food ever. I had the bbq chop, collards and mac and cheese. I am making sure i keep this location tagged in my phone so i can stop again

We were only going to get gas at the Citgo just to the east of I95. My buddy noticed the smoke shack sharing the same parking lot. Chickin Lickin is what the sign says. Big yellow sign. The smoker was running out to the side. Really friendly guy working it and the smell!!! We decided right then and there that we were hungry. I had ribs… words cannot describe the epiphany I had while i savored them. Best ribs I ever had. Only sad thing was that that too soon, they were gone. From now on anytime I am on i95 I am going to be stopping off Exit 5 and making sure I am hungry when I get there.
