Meh. Their prices started going up before this was the nation-wide movie theater trend. The popcorn was usually stale. And they never seemed to have the movies I wanted to see(you wouldn’t think that’d be an issue with nine screens). This was never my choice of theater when I lived in the ‘burg. Meh.

Growing up this used to be the main cinema but know if I received a free pass I would be reluctant to go. Even the Starbucks next to the place has a fair bit of grim on the floors probably slurpie sludge from floor of the AMC. Maybe it is the teenage hang out of Harrisburg but for me I just hate being in a filthy theater.

What a throwback. This looked exactly like the AMC in the mall I used to go to as a kid for movies in MD. At the time it was first rate but now, sheeeeesh, it looks dated! I honestly don’t know why I came to this theater, I wanted to avoid Great Escape’s teen escapades, but still wanted to grab a drink and food before I went to the movie which Regal doesn’t have nearby. This has a Starbucks and Cold Stone next door which is a plus. The movie theater is older and hasn’t been renovated since it opened. The theaters are old style, with no stadium seating or reclining chairs or carpeted floors. They still even play those early 90’s type ads on the screen before the previews start. One thing I do like here is the sound, which was loud and intense. Great Escape is lacking in that department. The theaters are clean but worn due to use and age. Ticket office was manned by a highschooler who was nonchalant. They didn’t check the tickets going in cause I went on a weeknight, but I imagine they do on weekends. I didn’t get any concessions, but the prices looked on par with every other theater. I was kind of annoyed with the $ 8 ticket price which is only $ 1 less then Regal and Great Escape for such subpar facilities. It’s worth paying $ 1 extra to get plush seating and updated screens. Apparently they have $ 4 tickets for their movies on Friday, Saturday & Sunday mornings before 12 noon which is great. But in the end I doubt I’d come here again unless it’s for the pre-noon prices.

1÷6÷11 — This theater has now closed. Apparently it closed down sometime in December. One of my first choices to go to when i want to hit the movies. Mostly because it is so darn close to home. Other than that let me just say $ 4 movies! That’s right, when I want to, i try to go Saturday mornings so I only have to pay $ 4 for a ticket. You can’t beat that price! It is way better that the $ 9 your would get charges at Great Escape or Regal!

AMC-9 at Colonial Commons had their hayday… But that was long ago. With Regal’s 14, and Cinema Center, who would go to AMC any more? Well, I thought it would be cheaper — but at 7 $ for a student ticket, was I really saving any money? Doubtful. AMC isn’t bad — but there’s no stadium seating, and I just think it’s over priced for an older theater. However, you do get a discount at Cold Stones with your ticket stub :)
