The wife and I were on a pretty big kombucha kick when the holidays rolled around. We figured we had to put that on hold until we returned to Tampa, I mean, come on, where are you going to find kombucha in Central Pennsylvania? Just for kicks she Googled kombucha in Central Pennsylvania and, lo and behold, a vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurant that serves kombucha popped up. Of course we had to pay it a visit. So the next day, we packed up the toddler and made the thirty minute trek to Harrisburg. Crave and Co definitely had some positives about it. Unfortunately it also had some negatives. What I liked about the place is that the restaurant itself was neatly designed. It had jenga on the tables, music decorations all around and a wall that you could write on with chalk. The bathroom was one of the coolest I’ve been in with some pretty powerful slogans scrawled all over the walls. Crave and Co’s homemade kombucha was decent. My wife didn’t like it, she thought it was too sour. I agreed, at first. J-Fur chalked it up to a kombucha making issue. I gave Crave and Co the benefit of the doubt when it came to the sour flavor. We ordered their lime version so that had to have been where the sour came from right? The more I drank it, the more I was convinced that the sour wasn’t a kombucha making issue but was because of the lime. By the time I finished the glass, I was actually sort of into it. As far as the food went, the sandwich of the day was a tempeh reuben. I love tempeh reuben and make them a lot at home. Rarely do I get the opportunity to have someone whip one up for me. So I ordered that. It came with a side of spicy raw beet salad. My wife ordered the cheese panini which she shared with our toddler who is pretty into grilled cheese. I loved the flavor of my reuben. I did not love the texture. The outside of the bread was soft and mushy. It was like someone vegan buttered it to grill but then took it off too soon. Ideally the outside of the bread is crispy, like a grilled cheese, while the inside is soft and chewy. The beet salad wasn’t super spicy or flavorful. It was fine. Not a side that I would write home about. J-Fur’s sandwich was too cheesy. A cheese panini too cheesy? Weird, I know. But there is definitely an art to making a good grilled cheese or cheese panini. Her favorite part of the meal was the side dish she ordered, a mixture of kale, pecans, quinoa and raisins. Crave and Co was a decent place to eat if you are a vegan or vegetarian. But keep your expectations in check. If you are looking for something to blow you away, this is probably not the place.

Crave and Co is a wonderful stop for those looking for a healthy food option. The ingredients are very high quality, and plentiful. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast burrito, which was very large and stuffed with fresh beans, sweet potatoes, and very delicious cheese. I also highly recommend the strawberry seltzer. The restaurant itself is a very relaxing café, with calming music in the background.

Delicious food, friendly and helpful service. The soups are fantastic… and I mean FANtastic. The spicy Hungarian cauliflower and the creamy mushroom are seriously gourmet soups… made in-house! I practically buy it in bulk sometimes. Their kombucha smoothie is delicious and nutritious. The décor is cool and the acoustic sitting in the corner is fun to pickup and play. Strong wifi is a major plus. Hope these folks are around for a long long time.

So glad we found this place on the way to Massachusetts. Incredibly organic, fresh vegan and vegetarian food — everything we ordered was amazing, the staff was super friendly and helpful and the décor is funky and fun to look at. Loved the vegan«crabcakes» and the black bean/quinoa burger. It is 5 min off the highway and I highly recommend this place, everything is great!

I can not say enough positive things about this café! I found Crave on Unilocal a few months ago and wish I would have frequented it sooner. From the décor to the homemade vegetarian and vegan dishes, you experience the genuine care and attention to detail. The décor is fun and colorful. The tabes seat up to four each. It is a relaxed atmosphere with music in the background but it is at a level you can converse/work at. There’s free strong wifi which is ALWAYS a plus. The restroom is clean and stocked, there is self serve water pitcher on each table. It’s often feels a bit cool to the patrons, so I’d suggest a coverup if you tend to catch a chill easily. About the amazing food! Again, the majority of the food and drink is homemade and healthy. There’s a wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and organic options. Black bean burger is killer. The Israeli salad is fresh and flavorful. They made Kombucha in house. The soups are scrumptious and well spiced. The mushroom soup last week was my fave! I even got some to go! This gem of a café is one of my top 5 favorite places to frequent in the Harrisburg area. I’d strongly suggest stopping by for organic coffee or a guilt free lunch.

Crave is super cute, but pretty overpriced. I am always looking primarily for coffee and a breakfast item and given the quality of the coffee one block away at Little Amps, it was really hard to be impressed with the prices and quality at Crave. I’m probably not Crave’s ideal customer, so if you’re vegetarian or into kombucha, definitely give it a shot. But for the customer just looking for good coffee and something to go with it, keep looking.

I want to start off by saying that I really, really wanted to like this place. As a vegetarian it’s hard to not get excited when you encounter a vegetarian restaurant! Unfortunately, I was left with unacceptable service and a lackluster sandwich. The only star goes to the lavender lemonade which I thought was pretty good, although that may just be the case because I was so starving from waiting so long that anything would have tasted good. I had expected to be able to eat and wander a little bit for an hour so I paid for an hour of parking. It’s a fast food kind of place so how long could it possibly take? Apparently a very, very long time. I waited about 25 minutes to receive my sandwich and raw salad. The raw salad was literally just Brussels sprouts drenched in a very tart balsamic dressing. The sandwich was bland. There was too much bread and a huge hunk of tomato that tasted like nothingness. The«crab cake» was rather overly spiced and tasted almost like Indian food rather than a «crab cake». The sandwich really needed a sauce but there wasn’t any. I could have made myself a «crab cake» sandwich from scratch in the amount of time it took for me to receive this and it would have been much tastier. That’s even more disappointing when you eat out and it’s worse than home cooking. I received no apologies for having to wait so long. I was sitting outside and noticed that people were going in and leaving pretty quickly with their food. I brought this up with the lady who took my order when I went to bring my plate inside and her excuse was that the individuals working were new. As someone who works in a service industry, you can’t just chalk up failures to new-ness. I regretted having already given a 20% tip. She asked me what she could do to make up for it; she should have offered something, not leaving it up to me. Since my hour was eaten up by waiting, I had to rush back to my car. It was such a disappointing experience. It’s really just too bad.

Have been going to this place ever since it opened and absolutely loved the food and the owners were always a delight. The food is still delicious but the last several times I went I have been completely underwhelmed by the service. The employees that have been hired argue with each other and it took 30 minutes for me to get my food each time when it wasn’t even busy. I really hope that this place returns to the crave and co that I loved.

The food here is great! I love all of the healthy options and the rose kombucha is my favorite drink. I had the protein bowl and the Israeli sandwich the two times I went and both were very tasty. This is a great example of how satisfying and filling vegetarian food can be. The staff is very nice. I docked two stars because while my boyfriend and I were working on our laptops, the owners/workers and a group of their friends/family were talking and such while their kids played in the front. It was kind of loud. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but because we were the only people there who didn’t know the group, it kind of felt like sitting in a stranger’s living room. Awkward. It was an off hour, though, so they probably didn’t expect customers. Anyway, the food is great. It might not be the spot to go to sit for a long time, but for a quick healthy lunch, it can’t be beat.

Food was tasty. Many vegetarian options; disappointed there aren’t more vegan and gluten free options. The service needs a major overhaul. Waited 20 minutes for my tea. Hummus was served without carrots and they weren’t delivered till we requested them to go. They are in desperate need of paper menus. The disorganization of the menu written on the front wall, back wall, and cooler is confusing. Would be better with some organization and refinement.

Me and a friend went here from out of town and ordered the lentil walnut burger and the kimchi tacos. Both were outstanding and at a great price. The lentil burger was particularly good, and everything in the shop is advertised organic. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone, particularly vegetarians and vegans who need a quick bite.

So, I have mixed feelings on this place. The service was very warm and friendly and the restaurant itself was very cozy and cute. I wanted to LOVE it here but overall thought it was just alright. I got a cauliflower soup, roasted eggplant sandwich and a strawberry seltzer to go. The soup was a great texture but a bit bland for my taste. It needed something. I just can’t put my finger on exactly what. I didn’t enjoy my sandwich much at all. It was really soggy — the bread, the eggplant… just kind of overall soggy and not very flavorful. The strawberry seltzer however had me hooked. Forever more I will drink my seltzer with a berry purée of some kind. It was the most addictive thing I can recall drinking in a long time. This place wasn’t terrible… but it wasn’t great either. I would give it another shot but I would have to venture to try something else on the menu.

What a quiet treasure — healthy, vegetarian, organic in downtown Harrisburg. Had my first lunch here recently and I’ll definitely be making this spot a regular on my lunch stops. It’s easy to miss this place — it’s so unassuming from the outside. It wasn’t until I saw something on Twitter that I realized they served breakfast & lunch, initially thought it was just a coffee shop. The kitchen is right inside the front door with tables in the back. It’s cute & cozy with fast & pleasant service. Lunch was served in under 10 minutes over a busy lunch hour; prices are great considering the quality of food. I had the spicy mushroom soup(yum!) and the cheese panini. My friend had the egg salad pita with checkpea salad. We both loved our choices.

Meat lovers beware. This place does not have meat on the menu, or at least I could not find it. I will leave my review solely on the experience up to not finding meat on the menu. Place is very friendly and welcoming. Décor was cozy. Staff was very friendly. Looks like a great place to eat if you are into this style of food. I had to admit defeat and venture to the pizza place on the corner.

Very nice lunch. Pleasant not-fancy atmosphere, friendly staff and interesting menu. Had curried egg salad in a pita pocket, simple and tasty. My companion had the three taco plate and said they were delish. Hard to find if you don’t know where to look, because it blends in with the adjacent buildings. Look midway between Second Street Gallery and North Street on Second’s west side. You won’t be sorry.(My four stars only because it was my first and only meal.)

Great little place. A sleeper. Easy to drive right past this place. It’s a husband and wife operation and they are delivering a very good product. I had a veggie burger, which was delicious, along with some kombucha and some expresso. A nice, small dining area with lots of personality. Give this place a shot. Support samll business. You won’t be disappointed.

This is my first review of a restaurant in my 2+ years using Unilocal, and I’m only doing it for the absolutely stand-out cozy little treasure in downtown Harrisburg. The soups I’ve had there are excellent, the best I can remember having at any restaurant. In the fall, they had a seasonal pumpkin curry. Yesterday, they had a spicy Hungarian mushroom soup. Their soups are healthy, seasonal, and so savory. I love their Israeli sandwich. Rich flavors of smoky eggplant, plus a delicious homemade hummus and hard boiled egg. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. It feels local, tastes local, and has great décor and staff. Bravo and thank you for bringing tasty vegetarian food to Harrisburg!
