Beautiful location. Peaceful and calm. They have great wines, ciders and beers. Excellent food trucks with lots of variety. If you’re in the area, stop by. It is worth it!

My wife and I love hanging out at Spring Gate. It’s a great place to spend time catching up with friends. The hard cider is the best choice as the wine and beer are just ok. Most of the employees are very nice and accommodating. I must admit the bar tender is one of the most unpleasant people I’ve bumped into. If you don’t enjoy your job, find something that you will enjoy. Life is short. We’ve been here numerous times and it’s been a consistent experience with him.

Nice atmosphere, beautiful landscape, and good wine! I attended the rib festival, and it was a great time! They also had their spring gate brewery beers on tap, which were also delicious. There always seems to be something going on each weekend, so I’m definitely looking forward to going back.

The prices are really high here! Expect to spend at least $ 80 for two people to have a couple drinks… But the atmosphere is amazing and there are a lot of places to hang out and relax. The wine slushies are addicting! I also recommend the Pale Ale from the brewery. 4 stars only because of the price

This is one of the best wineries my wife and I have ever been to. Thier wines are good but that is personal preference. The overall décor is beautiful with large outside seating venues from fire pits to chairs and tables. Weekend vendors to supply foods from all over are delicious. We can spend hours there it’s like being at one of your friends houses.

REVIEWOFMOTHER’S DAYBRUNCHEVENTONLY. Update. The brunch was hosted by a third party caterer and I was asked to revise my review. This event was billed as a Spring Gate Winery event, and it was hosted there. So no revision, just a clarification. We were extremely disappointed in this event that cost $ 27 per person. They sold out so they knew exactly how many people to expect. Event was 12pm to 4pm. We showed up at noon and got in the line of 30+ people. It took us 30 minutes to get in. As we waited they were just starting to put tables out on the lawn(which should have been done in advance). There was one small door in and out and minimal indoor seating unless you paid more to reserve, which meant my 80 year old parents had to balance their plate and drink as they navigated through the crowd and outside — no service at all. As we checked in, there were plastic cups of orange juice sitting out at the desk, so I grabbed one assuming they were included. Took one sip and realized it was a mimosa. The lady said that will be $ 6! I was shocked — no sign or anything. A kid could have grabbed one just as easily. Then we moved into the very crowded buffet line. TERRIBLE and crowded layout with the drink station(coffee, lemonade and iced tea only) half way through in a crowded hallway. After we filled up our plastic plates with mediocre food we squeezed back through the entrance to eat on Adirondack chairs and side tables. The food was decent but the overall experience was very disappointing. And the staff did not seem to care or acknowledge just how poorly it was run. Still can’t believe I had to pay an extra $ 6 for a mimosa that I didn’t even want … Just wanted a glass of OJ after standing in line for 30 minutes. 5 stars for the property — it is beautiful. 2 stars for parking — random and crowded. 3 stars for layout — they have food trucks and vendors in random spots and two bars next to each other that serve different things, but no signs. I think the beer was somewhere else. 2 stars for staff — they just didn’t seem to care, definitely not there to «delight» their guests. Best service I got all day was when someone offered to take my trash as I was 2 feet away from the trash can.

For the record, I was dragged to Spring Gate in lieu of going to brunch. The weekend in question was the shrimp and scallop feast. These are both things that I love, as is wine. How can it go wrong, right? I went with my mother, who often carries an oxygen tank. Neither of us had been here before, so we had no idea about parking. I attempted to ask the vested man about handicapped parking to which he waved his hand lazily. Ummm… thanks? Luckily I spotted a space directly in front of the entrance. For the record, it was one of three(I believe, though there may have been four) spaces available. If there were more, I have no idea. The winery themselves do not serve food; however, they do bring in outside vendors. In this respect, your mileage may vary. I saw that my fishmonger was there, so I happily waited in line for scallops. I did see a few other vendors, but I had little interest in trying their wares. I didn’t do much in the way of tasting at the event. To be honest, the staff seemed completely disinterested in anything more than filling glasses. I found out more about the cider selections from people standing in line than from the people manning the casks, so to speak. I purchased two different ciders by the glass, but could not seem to find a way to purchase a bottle or growler of the things that I liked. I did purchase a bottle of white that was like drinking slightly chilled battery acid, but I tend toward reds so shame on me. The venue itself is lovely. Happily we were there fairly early in the day and the weather was perfect for sitting outside to eat. I will mention that sitting outside appeared to be the only option. I could hear music, but there was no signage to indicate what was going on where or when. Will I visit again? Probably. The cherry cider was amazing, as was the hoppy apple. There are a few more themed weekends and assorted catered functions that I’m definitely interested in checking out over the rest of the spring and summer. Will I try the wines? I’d like the option to do so, but it may not be in the cards at one of the larger functions. I feel like that would be better served in a small setting.

Had the MOST unpleasant experience at Spring Gate this week! We were having guests come in from out of town who wanted to to experience some red wines made in PA. So, we tried to call Spring Gate to see if we needed a reservation for a tasting for Saturday. We called several times Thursday and Friday and the line was busy. So, we emailed. Saturday afternoon came and we hadnt gotten an answer so we decided to just drive over to the vineyard. We got there and saw tons of cars and the parking attendants told us there was an event going on but we could still go in for a tasting. There were three wines available outside(with plastic cups and very rushed) for free, but none where the wines we were interested in. We went inside and they told us there was a private tasting going on and we could only buy a bottle a wine. So we did. All of this wouldve been fine except we got an email from the owner/management FINALLY after we had left in which he implied that noone uses phones anymore and that we should check the facebook page for events. He went on to say, « one of the reasons the partners here co-invented the commercial internet in the late 80’s and the 90’s was the non-scalability of the telephone model. we’re not real keen on hiring Indians to answer questions. We know that at two years old, it is very difficult and very expensive to take the deluge of phone calls. traditional, low traffic wineries like Allegro, Waltz’s, Grandview are probably what you are looking for in the future. their red wines are spectacular» Seriously? So basically we’re crazy for expecting someone to answer the phone at the number posted on the website. And we’re incomponent not understanding that just because there are event flyers posted on the page that from that we should know whether there are full wine tastings available. Then he recommends that we go somewhere else in the future? Wow!!! NOTPLEASED!!!

We got invited to join friends and coworkers here for a Saturday evening of Beer, Bacon, Wine & Chocolate and had a really nice time ! I wasn’t impressed by my first glass of something pale but then again, I’m no beer snob and sink to such low levels as watery Miller lite so don’t JUDGEME ! Upon finding the ciders I knew I would have to pawn that beer off on one of my friends and I’m GLAD I did ! Wow, I really enjoyed their cherry cider ! It was the equivalent of a handcrafted wine cooler, if u will, but so delicate and balanced:-) The cherry flavor was just a nice REAL hint and didn’t remind me of cough syrup like just about anything cherry flavored does. My friends seemed to all enjoy their wines and beers and I wish I had been in the mood to shop…(I’ll be back ;-) We then moved on to sampling the burgers and other food stands, etc. The burgers line was waaaaayyyy too long but it was a festive atmosphere and we enjoyed joking with our other attendees and line residents…(your wait for the amazing burger ride is 45 drunken minutes @ this point … kinda humor) Warning: if your sensitive to foods, don’t order a burger because although they were DELICIOUS they really should warn people they use such a spicy mix of seasonings. Very, very spicy. AGAIN, VERY good but let the people know :-) The best part was when we visited their location in Linglestown later that evening for live entertainment and a few more of those yummy ciders ! KUDO’s to our young Irish dancers for sharing your talent ! Looking for something other than the bar but still wanna drink ? Grab your gang and give this local business some support !

I recently visited this winery for their«Shrimp and Scallop Feast.» I was curious to see how a winery prepared food, but I came to realize they didn’t. It was a catered event. No worries though, the food was still good and it included a complementary wine tasting. I am not much of a drinker, but I have started to sample wines on the recommendation of a friend. Honestly, I didn’t care for too many of their selections, but the real reason I am writing this review is because the staff was so nice and accommodating. One of my friends who I typically dine with has fell onto hard times and is currently bound to a wheelchair. Still, that doesn’t discourage him from tagging along when I say«let’s eat.» As it pertains to Spring Gate, not only did they serve samples straight to our table, there was even one gentleman who saw us coming and saved us a table; yielding much more consideration than some other places who couldn’t be bothered to even get the door. Now, I don’t know if he is affiliated with the winery beyond being a regular, but nonetheless we appreciated his gesture. Despite my thirst for alcohol, I do plan to keep an eye on their calendar of events and may return again for another evening out. Thanks again for being so friendly!

The boyfriend and I first visited a few months after they opened, before the brewery was in place. We recently went for valenWines weekend but they also were holding a bacon festival at the same time. Great wines, very crowded. We were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t try other wines and pay for the tasting. It was tough to pick bottles to purchase when we were only allowed to try 5 wines of their choice. I also wish they still had their smoothies. Overall, love the ambiance of spring gate and can’t wait to return in the warmer weather.

We absolutely loved it here! The winery is set back on their private estate. Very peaceful and beautiful place. There are 3 different sections, champagne/cider bar, wine bar, and the brew bar. I tried a champagne and a cider. I got a glass of the pumpkin spice cider as well as a growler! It was too good not to get more for home. My boyfriend had the pale ale beer, and we tried a few wines too. I liked the concept wine for 2 in the beer bottles; I got two different kinds to try. Overall I loved it here, and we can’t wait to come back in a few weeks with friends!

Could not have had a better time here than what we did. Rotating food vendors, wine, cider, beer, atmosphere, live music, aesthetics. Great time and a great place for a group outing. May need to work on the beer a bit and refine some of the recipes, but all-in-all, a wonderful hidden gem.

This is a very beautiful venue. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a trip through the state and actually found the winery suggested on Unilocal! We both did a wine tasting for $ 5 each tasting 6 wines each and they even had truffles you can purchase to pair with your wine. We bought a bottle of their Chamborcin red to take home. Aside from the tasting we also arrived just in time for Sangria happy hour on Thursday which was made in house with one of their whites, a ginger beer and some strawberries to top it off. It was delicious! They also had a beautiful grassy patio with tables to sit and enjoy the live music which was a jazz band when we were there. The venue itself does not service food but has local food trucks on site for wine snacking! I saw while researching that they also do many events throughout the year and the space can also be used for private events! Overall great relaxing experience and good wine to boot!

Great vineyard AND brewery with live music, wine tastings, wine slushies of different flavors, beer tastings, chocolates, cheese, and many others snacks available for purchase Not advised for people afraid of chickens as this is also a farm! It’s wonderful though because there are different places to sit around the venue. Wednesday-Sunday they’re open and they’ve got food trucks too!

This is a very beautiful venue with the barn converted into the winery and the pastoral views(including sheep). A tasting is a reasonable $ 5 to taste 6 – 7 varieties. For an additional $ 5 you can buy a souvenir wine glass. The staff are friendly and the wines good quality. Good enough that I would make repeat visits here to stock up on several bottles of my favorites. I love that they have a patio with tables and chairs for sitting and enjoying the afternoon. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and they had live music as well. The only reason they lost one star: they do not allow outside food nor do they offer food for purchase on Sunday other than the chocolate truffles. If you have a venue where you expect people to stay for several hours sipping wine, either provide little plates(cheese, crackers, meats, etc.) or allow them to bring a picnic basket. We brought cheese and crackers based on the recommendation of one of our group who had been there previously but the rules must have changed since she was last there. Nowhere is it posted on site«no outside foods» although looking on the website after our visit I did see where it states they offer ala carte catered food Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You may however bring a birthday cake and snacks if you have small children or babies. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely go back… but eat your Sunday dinner elsewhere before you go!

Had a fun night here about a month ago. The staff in the tasting room were super nice, even though they were slammed. We went when Wild Tomato was there offering their amazing pizza. to die for! They have truffles which were really good. The poor lady behind the counter didn’t know which truffles were which because someone took the sign, but whatever we had was really good. I would go back for the truffles alone. The wine isn’t the best in the area, but it’s definitely not the worst, nowhere near the worst. We tasted the wines that were available, none of which were so bad that we couldn’t drink them. In fact even their dry winee were enjoyable and i am not a huge dry drinker. They have wine by the glass or bottle that you can sit and enjoy their property with. All in all, we can’t wait to go back again. I hear they have fire pits now since it’s gotten colder in the evening. :-)

Wonderful little vineyard with a beautiful courtyard. A simple tasting menu of 7 items. My favorite was the merlot which had a nice balance of cherry lushness and vanilla smoothness. Very smooth. Will be back if in the area!
