Honestly, the best Jiu jitsu academic in New Jersey. The head coach is an amazing individual with a deep understanding of Jiu jitsu history. I have trained in many other academic in the USA, but this academic surpass any other place to train. The students are very respectful. Great atmosphere to get better as a person and BJJ practitioner. I recommend this academic for anybody looking to be a better person in life and jits. Osu

CEBJJ(Cutting Edge Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) mirrors that of it’s title-Cutting Edge. You have in Prof. Josef(Head Instructor), a man who blends old-school values and ethics(always humble, polite and helpful) with cutting edge ideas. He is a progressive man, full of life and energy, that is genuine and authentic as an indivdual and in business. At CEBJJ, you WILL find high level instruction(from the man himself) Prof Josef and, you will also find a family atmosphere full of a great group of men, women, and kids that adore their instructor. As a Bjj and Judo instructor of another school, I am proud to call Prof Josef a friend and mentor. CEBJJ is a gold nugget in a quaint location in Harrison, N.J. Stop by to meet the CEBJJ family. You won’t be disappointed.

I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts for over ten years. I have now been at Cutting Edge for six year and I have finally found my home sweet home. Prof. Josef Manuel is one of the most knowledgeable instructors that I have ever been trained by. His instruction is clear, concise, and developed in a manner for you to see results immediately. My training has leveled up immensely since I made CEBJJ my home. I would highly recommend this academy to anyone interested in joining a real team orientated environment for lifelong experience in martial arts.

I might be a little biased because this is where I train and it is the only place I have trained Jiu Jitsu. Besides all the body slamming, Sensei Josef Manuel is very inspirational and you will not only learn about grappling techniques. He is a very well read individual with an intense passion for technique and history. While most places only teach you HOW to do a move, he goes in on WHY this move can save your life. He explains the history of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(among other history topics) and why it can relevant to your life today. Let’s face it. Most of us join a gym or a specialized place to work out and then we forget about it.(i have fallen into that trap a few times) However, in Cutting Edge, Josef and some of the other students will go out of their way to check up on you and see why you haven’t been coming to class. Sensei will follow you on Facebook to make sure you are up to par with coming to class! The regulars in the class(most already seasoned vets) create a sense of community and encourage you to come and participate. I tend to feel very self conscious in class but the guys in class are very patient and wait an extra five minutes just for me to learn a roll. The pricing varies according to how often you want to come. If you are just starting I suggest you get the cheapest package to see how you like it. If you fall in love with it like I did, get the unlimited package which is you attend class everyday, morning or night. He has different programs such as MMA fighting and striking classes. Overall, the sense of community and the caring teacher is what made me give such high marks.
