La Fiamma is a staple for the town of Harrison, as I only recently discovered. I had a craving for Italian food in NJ. What I didn’t know is that there was a really good Italian spot only 5 minutes away from home. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the hostess. Our waiter was extremely pleasant and friendly. We placed our order: eggplant rollatini as an appetizer, and the mahi-mahi daily special and chicken francese(my go to entrée for NJ Italian restaurants) for our entrees. The waiter brought out bruschetta and bread to our table. The bruschetta was a really nice gesture. The eggplant rollatini was really good and serving size was enough for two people. I opted for the linguini with the chicken francese. It was probably one of the best chicken francese I had in a very long time. I didn’t get a chance to try the mahi-mahi but my mother said it was absolutely delicious. I was actually quite full and wasn’t able to order any dessert, which I wish I had tried. Very pleased to have finally found a great Italian restaurant so close to home.

Order pasta with lobster and very little lobster. $ 28 for spaghetti. There was even a pebble in the dish. Very disappointing for a place that gets good reviews. Be careful. The service is a peasant hut. The waitress throws a knife covered from a previous dish on the table.

I continue to be amazed at how wonderful & welcoming the staff is and how the specials are always some of the best food you are ever served. I can never get passed the specials to the regular menu because between the steak, chicken, pasta, or catch of the day… they all had me at hello.

Above average Italian and likely best you are going to get in Harrison /Newark. The grilled calamari and arugula salad was great. Very pleasant service well.

This is a retro rating. For many years, I lived around the corner from this nice little restaurant, and ate there several times a month(or more). Friendly, welcoming staff, and high quality food, that’s prepared with love. along with a well-stocked bar.

the reviews were RIGHT! this is a new favorite of mine. im not a huge fan of italian food, since its usually one note, however this place was just phenomenal! the sangria was the right amount of juice and liquor. i had the the fish of the day which was cod accompanied by red roasted potatoes and tomatoes. my friends had the seafood ravioli and the penne vodka. we started out with mussels in wine sauce and fried calamari. the calamari was the best ive had in northern nj! the manager is super friendly and the overall ambience is warm and inviting, def a great date night restaurant.

My hubby and I go to La Fiamma for special occasions sometimes, if we want to stay local. Their food is always great, and staff are very attentive. I’ve also taken one of my friends and she was very pleased with the food. I often get at least one dish from today’s special — and so far I’ve never regretted.

We booked La Fiamma for a repass and arrived with about 26 people. The old building has an awkward entrance with a door to the ground level seating and a steep staircase to the basement room where we dined. The room was typically furnished for banquets and the ceilings had some low supports which surprised guests over 5′ 8″. The menu was limited to 4 or 5 choices for the appetizer and entrée and two desserts for our function. It didn’t matter, everyone seemed to enjoy what they ordered. The eggplant, the clams casino, salads and fresh mozzarella were all delicious starters. They had a salmon with capers entrée and a tilapia which my relatives enjoyed. There was a pasta and a chicken which I heard nothing but good things about. I had the veal which was tender and delicious. They did a great job with the food and the service was exceptional. Price was reasonable and I cannot wait to go again with a much smaller group for dinner and experience their full menu.

Originally from the east coast. For the past 36 years have lived in Washington state. Not noted for ITALIAN food. In Newark to travel to the Middle East and the shuttle driver recommend this restaurant as I love Italian food. The establishment is a typical neighborhood Italian restaurant. Just the way I like it. The service was spot on. I had a smoked salmon appetizer and a veal chop in a wine sauce for dinner. The food was excellent. Too bad I had to travel over 2500 miles. The menu is also extensive. Highly recommended.

This place was great! Food was delicious! You can tell the restaurant use to be a bar, but this doesn’t hurt the ambiance at all. Great service and even better food. I suggest you try it out if you are ever in the mood for Italian food.

There are few Italian restaurants this delightful with foods this delicious. I’ve been to «La Fiamma» about 4 times now, and each time the service is impeccable, the food delicious and the atmosphere warm and friendly. If you’re ever in the Harrison Newark Area, treat yourself and stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

ExSmall Family Italian restaurant. Nice and quaint. Bread is good. I ordered the Gnocchi with chicken and had them spice it up. This is a good restaurant to bring someone to make it appear your a true foodie and you know where all the small jewels are. The chicken cutlet is GGGGOOOODDDDDDD!

Mixed bag of reviews for my favorite little local Italian eatery!?! Well, I’ve got no complaints, been coming here for years(it’s funny how we forget to review the places we go to the most). I love everything i try here. Usually I go with whatever the fish or pasta special happens to be, order a glass of pinot noir and enjoy the complimentary bruschetta served as you wait for your meal to come out. I’m not going to rant and rave how great it is or how perhaps this or that might use a little work — sorta want to keep them as my own little local secret. Shhh…
