Great place! New to Hartford & the staff was very friendly. Going back there again for sure!

Have been coming here for maybe 2 – 3 years now and this is the best barbershop I’ve found. Always trusted in Madison & Sebastian’s skills because they’re simply THE BEST. Sebastian had the shop re-​painted & decorated for a while now and it’s immediately take you back to the classic atmosphere of barbershop style the moment you walked in. I’m now a regular customer, it’s great to have an awesome haircut & entertained conversation with my super barber/​friend every time I’m there. Absolutely love this place!

Sebastian (affectionately referred to as Sebby) is not only a great personality to chat with, but he is great at what he does as well. Madison has also cut my hair and done a fantastic job.
Cash only and men’s cut is $ 20, which is similar or lower than many other places I have gone. I now live in Boston, but when I visit Hartford for work, I try to make a stop at Constitution Plaza Barber Shop.
Reservation is Recommended as they fill up fast, but walk-​ins are welcome and I have called a few hours before and been okay.
The shop has changed significantly over time and has brand new infrastructure and a unique design that makes it interesting as well. I have visited that shop since 2011 and would not go anywhere else in Hartford simply because you cannot beat the price, quality and conversation.

These guys must be good, because they can never take a walk in, although I have never walked in with anyone in the shop and always are told they are too busy. They don’t offer appointments and even when I ask they don’t know when they are available. Disappointed, I must look like I shouldn’t be there.
Cuts may be great but service certainly isn’t.

GREAT cuts & atmosphere. After moving to Hartford from New York, I was worried about finding my ‘go-​to’ places again in the greater Hartford area. Madison and Seb put me at ease right away at least in the haircut department! They are both extremely capable barbers with welcoming personalities.
I have thick/​coarse/​straight asian hair but Madison always gives me a great cut.
Quick, easy, no frill cuts @ great price (at least compared to new york!)
Reservation recommended as they do fill up pretty fast. men’s cut = $ 20 (before tip, cash only)

As a female, looking for a barber shop has proven to be quite the challenge. After hearing about this particular shop by word of mouth, I decided to finally give them a try. Best decision ever! Sebastian & Madison are true professionals at what they do. Madison and I chatted about what I’d like to have done with my undercut as soon as I sat in the chair. She completely exceeded my expectations! Needless to say they gained a new loyal customer :-)

Constitution Plaza is a shining diamond in the rough of Hartford. Sebastian and team are leading a resurgence of quality driven services ever evident in the ‘artisan’ boutique mind-​set that is driving modern urban development, without even realizing it. The vision of an ‘old school’ barbershop is on display without the pomp and marketing surrounding other commercial ‘barbers’ popping up all over the country.
This is an authentic experience in a time where authenticity is hard to find. If you are a man looking for a quality haircut or beard trimming surrounded by personable individuals, this is the place to go.
Bottom line, great cuts, credibly outgoing and accepting people. The only caveats being cash-​only and reservations recommended.

Seby’s haircuts are reliably good, the price is right, and visiting the shop makes for a nice break in the day. I work nearby and appreciate that they take appointments and work efficiently.

Sebastian is great he knows what he is doing. I recommend this place you will not be disappointed. They even have free beer and whisky for you if you are waiting.

Sebastian is both a great barber and a nice guy. I went here to get my hair trimmed and he was willing to engage in conversation and do a great job. Pays attention to detail and is great at accommodating specific requests.

Just dropped in for a haircut and what a great surprise! Old shop with new owners, inexpensive yet Madison was very thorough. Best haircut in a long time. Appointments accepted but I walked in and was immediately accommodated.

I went in to ask if they could cut my kid’s hair and the guy told me they didnt have time for a kids haircut, to check back next week. :(

Fantastic. Sebastian cut my three-​year-​old son’s hair, and he did a great job. Sebastian was very confident and comfortable with a wiggly toddler, and his hair looks great. Will definitely be returning.
Only difficulty– no credit cards, so bring cash.

After working in Downtown Hartford for over a decade I finally decided to look for a barber near my job so that I could go on lunch and save some time (two small kids at home was the major driver here). My only referral for this place were the reviews on Unilocal.I did as others suggested and scheduled an appointment over the phone. Sebastian, the barbershops proprietor, was very personable and professional on the phone and booked me a noon appointment a few days after our chat. I’ve now just returned from that appointment and felt the need to let others know about my experience.
Its no wonder why the Sebby and his team earned a 5 star rating. When I arrived I was taken a few minutes before my scheduled time and sat in one of the original chairs from when the shop opened in the 60’s. As Motown tunes played in the background, Sebby did what any good barber does, he engaged me in conversation which did not include the weather or how work was. He cut my hair exactly as I had explained it to him and then surprised me by using a straight blade to edge out my my neck, sideburns and ear line. I just about always get a #1 guard blended up to the top which he faded perfectly, no lines and perfect transition from neck to scalp. And not only was the cut great, but the whole experience was also just as enjoyable. If you work/​live downtown and want a great cut from a great barber with a nice relaxed atmosphere then go nowhere else, this is your place! Needless to say i’ve already told myself that this is my new spot.

After many months of struggling to find a good barber shop in the Hartford area, finally managed to find one and stick to it. This place was recommended by my colleague as he is a regular over there. Sebastian (aka Seb) does a great job and the service is excellent, all for a price of $ 15. Do take an appointment in advance as you may not get a slot if you walk-​in.

Not only did I get the cut I was after, but I had a great time talking with Madison and Sebastian. Awesome folks (and great tunes, too.)
You could spend a lot more at a trendier place. But you’d be missing out. Great work, great customer experience. They’ve got my loyalty.

This place has 5 stars for good reason. The staff are extremely polite and accommodating. Good conversation throughout with each and every client. Haircuts are perfect too, nice to see the straight razors in action.
And um hello they are Sicilian so you know it’s the best! Anytime the barbershop has hairdryers with Ferrari designed motors you know you’re in a good place.
I recommend calling ahead for an appointment and not just walking in because they are booked constantly since they’re that good!

I used to pay a lot for haircuts because I wear my hair in a pompadour and it’s pretty hard to find someone who can do it right so I figured the more I pay the better the cut, right? Wrong!
After my expensive stylist moved away I had to find a new place for a cut and my first thought was Rooster’s in Glastonbury. It seemed to fit; the style of shop seemed to lend itself to my kind of cut, it was fairly expensive, etc. I walked out of there seething. For more info on that I wrote a review. After that I turned to Unilocal for advice which is how I came across Sebastian’s place. Holy crap! The cut I got was phenomenal, the price was right… I haven’t been this happy with my cut since… ever.
Highly recommended, Sebastian couldn’t be nicer, I just can’t say enough good things.
The only problem is that now I weep for all the money I threw away paying more and getting less.

The famous Madison made me look like a champ in a seat that’s been there since 1962. Owner since 1963 is 98 years old and still stops by and «has all his marbles». Amazing.
Barber shop talk is ripe, fun and funny. Excellent cut and trim for a very fair price at a true American classic treasure.
