This is our favorite restaurant in MA right now. The restaurant is small(probably only 25 seats total). Probably 6 or so seats at the bar. It doesn’t look like much from the outside(looks like maybe it was a Friendly or a bank or something in its former life), but don’t let that fool you. Inside it’s really nice, intimate and cozy. We visited the cape twice in the last few months, and had dinner here both times. The first visit, we didn’t have reservations so we sat at the bar. That turned out to be a blessing, since the bartender was excellent and entertaining. Drinks were superb(says my wife… I’m a beer and wine guy). The meal was fantastic. I had the Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew, and it was quite literally the best prepared meal I’ve had this entire year. So much flavor, the freshest seafood… oh my. We had desserts, port wine, more drinks… ended up spending 3 hours there. Left with a smile on my face, even after paying a very large tab. On our more recent visit, we sat in a booth. The waitress was pleasant, attentive, and efficient. Food was awesome again. Creative meals, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentations, great service… these folks are doing it right. I can’t get enough of this place!

Flawless on every level. Quiet setting, plenty of room between tables(the high top in the bar worked so well for us) exemplary service, lovely flavors, creative plating and an inspiring menu all around. LOVELOVELOVE Viera. The best part of our meal tonight was the deconstructed pumpkin cheesecake. Wow, such a memorable meal.

I rented a lighthouse in Pocasset for a month this October. Throughout the month, I had 3 sets of friends come to visit. And each time a new«wave» of friends came to stay, I took them to Viera’s(even though it is nearly an hour’s drive to Harwich from Pocasset). It is not possible that a better restaurant exists on the Cape, so I had to share it with loved ones. Since a picture is worth 1,000 words, I’m hoping that every meal pictured in my photos speaks for itself. If not, let me add that the chefs(both entre and pastry) at this restaurant are brilliantly innovative, and not only was the food clearly farm-to-table bright and fresh, but the service was also unsurpassed. Antonella(our waitress, who I specifically requested after my first visit there) treats all of her customers like family; I think she enjoys watching her customer enjoy the food almost as much as we enjoy enjoying it. And there is not a better hostess than Jen anywhere either. I’ve traveled to hundreds of cities inside and outside of the U.S., and I have never EVER had better food or service than I did in this small town in Harwich, Massachusetts. Is it cheap? No. Is it worth every single penny? Without question. If you have the chance… GOTOVIERA’S!

Though my wife and I were among very few diners on the evening we went here, our waiter did not think we were worth his time. Other diners(maybe locals?) were waited on attentively by another server; we were not. My wife started with an espresso. The dirty cup remained on our table for the rest of the evening. She might have wanted another, but our waiter never asked. Due to a food allergy, I could not eat potatoes, so I asked if the«shallot mash» that the steak was to be served on had potato in it… the waiter assured us, «no, it’s only shallot». So I ordered the steak, medium. It was served to me very rare on top of mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the waiter never returned to our table to ask if we needed anything, so I never had the opportunity to ask for this to be corrected. Instead, here I was at a $ 30+ entrée fine dining restaurant, scraping potato off my rare steak and eating it off of my bread plate. Again, the waiter never noticed because the only time he returned was to whisk our plates away and drop the bill. I would have liked a cocktail, too… but since the waiter vanished(again, the place was hardly busy… where did this guy go?) I couldn’t ask for one. Instead of the special meal we had planned for our night on the Cape, we left feeling insulted. When a meal costs this much, it stinks to leave with the crappy service as the lasting impression, not the food. I won’t ever return.

So glad we tried Viera last night! I was under the impression from previous reviews that they did not take reservations. They now do. No problem. They had 2 seats left at the bar. Josh(behind the bar) was great! We sat next to a very friendly couple and had a lovely dinner. Our oysters were perfect. I had the short rib, my husband had the flank steak. Both perfectly presented and cooked. A lovely evening with great service. A new favorite of ours! Amazing what can be done with a retired Friendly’s!

I had dinner at the bar. The bartender was knowledgable and freindly. The food was plated artfully and flavors blended perfectly. It is refreshing to eat at a Cape restaurant with a Cosmopolitan feel.

I must say, I’m always suspect of places with 5 star reviews, but this one lived up to it. Service was easily 5star+. I really haven’t had such nice service in so long, I almost forgot how much it could add to the experience. Food was a solid 5. We had the crab cake appetizer which was good, nothing to write home about, but good. The sea scallops and pork belly was a perfectly balanced dish, the apricots were a nice finishing touch on it. Would highly recommend this one. The short ribs were clearly cooked nice and long at a low temperature, the fat was still present but in a perfect state of suspended liquefaction(I’m making up terms lol) and the meat was amazingly tender and flavorful. Price was very reasonable for the quality and the portions were surprisingly filling. After viewing some Unilocal review photos I was kind of worried it was a restaurant we’d leave hungry from, but not the case. So much so that we unfortunately had to skip desert! If I’m ever back in Cape cod, I’m coming back, no matter where I’m staying.

Thanks to Unilocal we checked this place out. It’s small and gave us more of a hometown than touristy feel which is what we were looking for. The bartender was happy and nice to chat with, he helped us pick a bottle of wine and was pleasant when we asked if we could transfer it to our table.(We were told it would be an hour wait but were sat in 10 minutes– bonus!) Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating, she set the mood just right. We ordered the calamari which was ‘upgraded’ that evening to include shrimp, scallops, hake and some veggies– all very tasty. The main courses were great– especially the braised short ribs– those were out of this world tender and flavorful… would’ve eaten a whole other plate if given the chance! The homemade fettuccine was great in texture but the sauce(a carbonara/Alfredo mix) could’ve used a little more flavor to kick it up. For dessert we ordered the mandarin orange crème brûlée– i love crème brûlée plain so the flavored one wasn’t for me, but my fiancé loved it. Finished the night off with expresso and we happened to think for all of that the meal was reasonable if not on the cheaper side! A great spot to check out that is not full of tourist and offers a great meal and great service!

If you are looking for that special meal away from home and happen to be in Cape Cod check out Viera in Harwich. Great food accompanied by equally great service. Very limited menu with quality food and prep. Start your meal with a signature drink from the bar followed by outstanding food. Will definitely be back in the future.

Had a great meal here. Ordered chocolate cake as appetizer. Why not? Lol. The scallop tasted so fresh and delicious. My boyfriend had steak and it was well done. We would come back here again when possible.

Viera is great case for not judging a book by its cover. Housed in an old Friendly’s Restaurant building lies the heart of a really excellent, limited menu prepared to perfection by the chef-owner. My Wife and daughter had the scallops. I had the yellow fin tuna special after a Caesar salad made with homemade dressing and served with homemade bread. Nary a sound was heard except the occasional ummmmmm. And the same sounds were made by the ladies over their deserts. Their last opportunity to lose a star was the coffee and it didn’t disappoint, being freshly ground. There is a lot of competition from restaurants on the Cape during the season and the food at Viera would stand well with the best of them

Small, but inviting and distinguishably upscale restaurant is a much needed break from all the fried seafood places in the Cape. Staff was friendly and accommodating, even to our six-year-old daughter who didn’t want a full entrée. Frito Misto was the highlight of the meal, featuring sea scallops, shrimp, cod, in addition to delicate, tender calamari. Funny — I just mentioned I wanted a break from fried food, but this wasn’t your run of the mill fry-o-later seafood. It was light, crispy, and served with squid ink and an Aoli. Fantastic. The Wagyu Flank Steak was packed with flavor and the farm to table heirloom tomatoes it was served with were the perfect accompaniment. Even though I wasn’t drinking this visit, I did spy a bottle of WhistlePig Rye Whiskey on the bar shelf — a sure sign this bar has the good stuff. Highly recommended.

Molto Bene! Viera was outstanding! The service was perfect, exactly what you want, they are super friendly, polite, and timely, but not over the top. After researching on Unilocal and reading all their awesome reviews, my husband and I decided on Viera. The food was incredible with fresh ingredients and a simple, elegant menu. We ordered delightful crudités & crab cakes for our first course. And they were both well seasoned and excellent, paired well with our bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Our dinners were exceptional, super fresh with simple and delicious ingredients. I had the Farm Chicken and OMG so tender, juicy and delightfully yummy with home-made whipped mashers! My husband ordered their Fettuccine, home-made pasta, with a very light white wine sauce, the flavors were delicious! You can just tell the chef truly cares about his cooking, with such attention to detail and perfect presentation. If you are down the cape and would like an excellent meal, we highly recommend Viera, Cheers!

Went here a few weeks ago(end of May) and was able to get a table even though we didn’t have a reservation. Our waitress was great, the food was decent, but my drink was unpalatable. I got one of the special cocktails off the menu and it was just too strong for me. Our waitress noticed and took it to the bartender to ask him to lighten it up and I could see him(we were at the table right by the service part of the bar) shake his head no. Eventually he gave into our waitresses pleas and added soda water or something but I will say that his reluctance to appease the customer put a bad taste in my mouth worse than the straight burning from the cocktail.

Found this DIAMOND of a restaurant by searching Unilocal.Best decision on our long weekend there. The service was top notch. The food was well beyond what we expected to have. The plating and ingredients were up to par with some of the dinners we’ve paid over $ 500 for. Bravo to the chefs! I got scallops with pork belly, carrot purée, fiddleheads and apricots. My husband got salmon with a nice thai style rice. We also shared the fried seafood appetizer. I hope everyone eats here. Over and over again. Forever.

From the outside, the building is entirely unassuming, as it was originally a Friendly’s restaurant. But upon entering, the décor and overall atmosphere immediately tells you that you are in for a treat. The Slow Braised short Ribs($ 28), served with Creamy Polenta and Broccoli Rabe, was just amazing! The short ribs were«fork» tender, seasoned perfectly, and literally melted in your mouth. The Sautéed Cape Sea Scallops($ 32), were served with squid ink risotto and kale. The dish overall was delicious and the scallops were moist, with tender centers. The squid ink added a briny, yet nicely balanced earthy flavor to the dish. It’s clear that only ingredients of the highest caliber make it into this Chef’s kitchen! Nice selection of medium and full bodied wines as well. Highly recommend!
