this was an unexpected treat in this neighborhood. the rooms are located above a florist and the steps are narrow and high(may be an issue for older or less mobile patrons). the décor is very kitschy and cute. there are about 10 or so tea varieties — mostly herbal/floral/fruity. and the food isn’t particularly fancy or high-brow but it is all tasty, very fresh, and there were a few items that we thought were a fresh take compared to some other afternoon teas, which was nice. we had the tomato basil soup, which had a lovely sweetness to it. and the vinaigrette on the salad was just perfect. what really makes this location stand out from other afternoon teas(for me) was the host and owner. he’s very friendly and funny. he really makes it feel like you’re just over having a nice afternoon at an old friend’s home who keeps poking in and out of the kitchen. totally recommend for a nice local tea(not going into NYC).
