I was seen for an eye problem and then for contact lens fitting. Doctor Malara was thorough and patient. The first type of contacts didn’t work for me so I was scheduled for a follow up appointment at no cost. She spent a good deal of time with me trying to figure out which lenses would work with me and provide the most clear vision. I didn’t have to wait too long in the waiting room, and when I needed to be seen to adjust my contact lenses they scheduled me within days. I also had to cancel an appoint at the last minute and they were very polite about it. I have not had to see any of the ophthalmologists so perhaps there are issues with that side of the eye care business.

The people at front desk are totally rude. just horrible. i like the doctors but they need to fire the front desk staff. because of this looking for another doctor. i will NOT allow anyone to talk to me anykind of way.

I think many of the complaints of the other reviewer, respectfully, are standard business practice, such as signing in, asking for an address, and asking for insurance. Some medical insurance includes ophthalmology, which is why they’d ask for that. I have found the office to be bright and cheerful, the staff friendly and efficient, and the clinicians skilled and thorough. The waiting room is large, has a television, and has complimentary coffee(and water). The office is accessible — you have to walk up stairs to get to it, but they also have an elevator. Plenty of parking, including handicapped spots near the entrance. My only complaint, really, is that 9 times out of 10, they really keep you waiting. I think perhaps they overbook. I have heard other patients get pretty snarly about it, too. So take a book or something, and try not to have anything else scheduled right after your eye appointment. They recently have acquired all of the technology for advanced eye testing, so you no longer have to go to Abington to get those tests done. They answer your questions, and show you the imaging, if you ask. They have an eye surgeon and an optometrist on-site, as well as a glasses shop. The glasses shop doesn’t have as full a selection as a glasses store, but they have a reasonable selection, and get your glasses to you in a reasonable amount of time. I have complicated eye issues, and this office is a one-stop shopping kind of place, which is really nice. But for the tardiness issue(it can really put a cramp in your day), I wholly endorse this business.

There is absolutely no privacy in this office. The people at the desk demand that you give them your insurance information. And when you tell them you don’t have vision, they want your medical. Then when you don’t want them to know your medical insurance information — because it’s none of their business — you are sneered at. The office is set up so that when the staff is on the phone, the people in the waiting room can hear every single word of their conversation. So when the staff repeats your name and address and phone number, and of course medical insurance information, everyone in the waiting room can hear it. Then when you go in in-person, you are forced to sign a sheet that’s out in public with your full name letting the staff know you’re there. There is no need to write that information, just do your job and SPEAK to your patients! When they tell you that they are here, type that information into the computer!
