Had to say not very pleased. Came here with some family for a nice dinner out and thank goodness, my company was the only thing I really enjoyed during my dining experience at 16 Front Street. At first it came off as a place that I really wanted to like. Modern dining room with a fireplace, coupled with a beautiful view of the Hudson River that really sets the stage for what could be a really memorable meal. However, the experience that followed shortly after being seated left much to be desired. Like the ambiance of the restaraunt, our server came off as smiley and eager to show what 16 Front Street can do. He was quick, attentive and there when we needed him. He was also very pleasant and willing to fix the things we weren’t happy about. However, one couldn’t help but notice his lack of refinement as a server. He made a few errors that were a bit off putting. As for the food I found it to be of very poor value. We started off with the Mozarella bites, which turned out to be mozzarella sticks in ball form ontop of marinara sauce. Not bad, not good. Just imagine any mozzarella stick you’ve ever had in a spherical shape and about seven dollars more expensive and thats what you get. Enjoyable though, pretty hard to mess up fried food and canned sauce right? The main courses were where things got pretty ugly. I ordered the seared tuna, my mother got the salmon and my brother got a pasta dish topped with ricotta cheese. My tuna was alright at best, you could tell the piece of fish was not fresh and probably delivered to the restaraunt packaged ready to cook. It was also a little cold. The tuna was cooked to rare which is how I ordered it but you could tell it had probably spent too much time in the expo window cooling off. Still had flavor though, enough for me to finish the dish. I found the quinoa they served with the tuna to be bad. I have had better boxed. The salad they served with the dish, topped with an asian ginger dressing was good and complimented the fish well. As for my mothers salmon, it was horribly overcooked to the point of being a crunchy dry piece of fish. She had to send it back and pick something else off the menu. She selected to tilapia which turned out to be just pan fried fish. Unfortunately, we found the Tilapia to be only slightly more enjoyable than the Salmon. Overall, I found myself very dissapointed with 16 Front Street. Service is alright and the food is absolutely not worth what they charge for it. For such a high priced menu, its a pretty cheap experience. One that leaves me chalking 16 Front Street up as nothing more than yet another Rockland water-front restaraunt that gets away with charging alot of money for poorly prepared food and alright service just because they have a view of the river and a little glitz & glam. I dont mind paying for expensive food, but its dissappointing when a restaraunt doesnt deliver on the quality in any way except the setting. Probably a good spot to get some burgers and beers at their bar. Bust as far as a fine dining experience, their food really misses the mark. Two stars for food that doesnt hold its value, alright service, and a good view of the water.

Let’s start with what was good — the atmosphere(nice patio on the river in good weather), and the waitress was nice. But, I don’t think the kitchen and bar help her out much. We had a table for 6 on a Friday night. They were about half full. Almost nothing came to the table at the same time. The drinks arrived in 3 waves, the appetizers in 2, and the main course in several. Usually that indicates problems in the kitchen. We had a steak come out over cooked, a mix up on the vegetables, and a pasta side wrong as well. The food overall was good or OK. Bad value for a fair meal. Much better choices out there.

Just finished a great meal with excellent service by Christian. The deck was open for the last night of summer. Burgers were cooked perfectly. I always try a burger on my first visit to an establishment. If they can’t execute a good burger, that’s telling. Well 16 Front passed the test and we will be back. Th inside is equally inviting so I can imagine us here during the fireplace months. Thanks for a memorable visit.

We were a group of 7 on a Sunday evening celebrating a birthday. I have some dietary restrictions, which I know can be a pain, but I have never had an experience like this before. The«chef» was unable(despite us being one of two tables in the entire restaurant) to modify anything. He was unable to cook fish without with tomato sauce because it would«stick» to the pain. I asked for oil to be used instead of butter, however he refused and said he could only use butter. Really??? I asked for suggestions, and he was unable to do anything without butter. I’m still shocked. Everything with butter? So I can’t eat butter, therefore I can not eat your food? You are trying to be a fine dinning restaurant with a beautiful view and remodeled building, but you have an inadequate person running your kitchen. One person in our party did order the Bronzino as was described in the specials, yet she was very unhappy. It made me glad that I hadn’t compromised. The tomato sauce was very overpowering. The mushroom fettuccine was tasteless and skimpy on the mushrooms. The bacon mac and cheese was so overwhelming, you really could only have a couple of bites. This place has a lot of potential, and it’s obvious that the owners went through a lot of work to give it a fresh look. However, the chef obviously has no idea what he’s doing and is going to be running the place down if they don’t find someone that is competent to take care of the back of the house. Save your money, go elsewhere. They’ve got diner quality food being masked by the façade of the building. Such a shame.

Just goes to show you can’t please everyone. In my opinion… Great food, excellent service, amazing appetizers, freshest fish ever, excellent wine list and drinks by a very well trained bartender. View amazing. Place is gorgeous. Clean as a whistle. Vibrant atmosphere. Plenty of parking. Had an amazing wine from Provence. Owners don’t know what else to do for you to make your dining experience special. Priced affordable. Not sure what else you could want from a neighborhood restaurant.

After reading all of the not so favorable reviews about this restaurant I decided to take a chance and was pleasantly surprised last night. We were met with a very friendly hostess who seated us outside on the deck to enjoy the beautiful view. We ordered 3 small plates and a couple drinks. Their specialty margarita on the rocks was very good as long as you like a lot of lime. The coconut shrimp was tasty & nicely presented. The fish tacos were really good and large enough to be an entrée. The mussels were plentiful & we really enjoyed the sauce. My only suggestion, I would have liked a small seafood fork instead of a dinner fork to extract the mussels with. Our waiter was personable and professional throughout the whole meal. We were the last ones in the place & never felt rushed. All in all, I think the place has a lot of potential & hope the management utilizes the outdoor deck into the cooler weather with some heat lamps or fire pit(if permitted by the town).

Took my staff there for dinner and was not too happy. The place came out nice very energetic looking. The service was slow, and the Ribeye Steak was horrible. My guest wouldn’t even eat it. The appetizers everyone got seemed to be a ok. I would say good place for cocktails and a burger, and don’t go past that.

We were a little nervous coming here because of the other reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised. First of all the place is beautiful and the view is amazing. The service was top notch with our servers catering to our every need. The food and drinks all arrived quickly and all were prepared perfectly. The combination of great service and a beautiful atmosphere make this place definitely worthy of repeated visits. They also had a band playing outside in the gazebo by the river and that made the evening complete!

Had a wonderful experience. Ate, drank and danced here last night. Ron the bartender was attentive and made the best mojitos. My fiancé and I had the seafood taco as an appetizer which was amazingly delicious and the Salmon for dinner. I didn’t eat the Salmon because I was full but my fiancé stated it was delicious. After we ate we went outside to look at the view which was amazing. We could have eaten outside but we choose to sit at the bar. The doors were open so we could feel the breeze. Once outside we decided to stay a little longer because the music was so good and the view was so pretty. We danced for a little while then left. We will definitely come back. The staff was very nice. We couldn’t find a spot but there was someone outside guiding us to where we could park. When we walked in, more staff, very pleasant with a smile, greeted us and Ron the bartender was really nice and always friendly. I loved the menu because there was so much to choose from. They offered steak seafood and pasta dishes. The place was so pretty inside and out. There was a fireplace inside and a really pretty bar with a granite counter top. What I liked most was that the band was not so loud and you could have a conversation and still enjoy the music. They had the door/windows open so you could feel the breeze and it was easy to walk to the water. The area where the band played was really nice. There were high top tables and a nice dance floor. You can order finger food by the band/dance area. They also had seating to sit outside for dinner. This place has a lot to offer. The only reason I didn’t rate it a five star is because I didn’t eat a full dinner. Looking forward to coming back!

The place has a beautiful setting. It wasn’t crowded and the service was excellent. The food was mediocre. For a place that is charging NYC prices, the food should be exquisite. The staff was extremely attentive, however the manager or owner seemed as if he could care less. Perhaps the stress of a new restaurant, trying to make your numbers could wear on you. The chicken tasted old or pre battered. I was dissappointed…

I have been to 16 Front Street multiple times. The food is delicious every time. Also fun to watch a game at the bar. Drinks are great but a little pricey. Mike is a great bartender. Definitely worth a try.

I was so excited to try this place. My family and I went last night(party of 7) and sat outside. The views are great! The service on the other hand… We ordered 4 bottles of wine and each bottle our server would open and place on our table. He never once poured a glass or refilled any glasses leaving us to pour our own. Could you imagine? I asked him to refill our glasses and he thought I was kidding and walked away. The food is pretty good, nice size portions. What I guess was the owner/manager would stand outside and look at everyone never once asking anyone how their dinner was. The inside of the restaurant was empty inside which on a Friday night on the water in the summer should never happen. They have only been open about 6 weeks, I would wait a while till they work out the kinks before you try this place.

My husband and I love the location here and were sad when Civiles closed. Recently we tried the new restaurant but no matter how wonderful the scenery we shall never return. 1…ordered bottle Prosecco. Waited. Told they had to go in «back». Waited. Told Prosecco was being«chilled». We ordered a couple cold beers! 2…two waitresses came out, one holding our appetizers the other holding our main courses. With apologies they offered to hold our burgers under a heat lamp whilst we ate our fish tacos! 3…thank goodness we declined the heat lamp. The burgers were already overcooked. 4…when the bill arrived it was in full. Not even a couple of beers offered for such a terrible experience. 5…the view is obstructed now with a fence that sits at eye level. Either sit erect to see over or slouch to see under! When the waitress said«I feel so bad that everything seems to be going wrong», I wanted to say «no shit Sherlock».

THISDOESN’T DESERVEANYSTARS!!! Food and service leaves a lot to be desired. The only reason it’s worth a trip, is for the view. In lieu of straws, you get two stirrers?! It’s difficult to drink with stirrers and disappointing to have cold cappuccino. The first it was in cold, the second time, it was COLDER! SAVEYOURMONEY! ANOTHERROCKLANDCOUNTYDISAPPOINTMENT!!!

Agree with Jeff’s review! Disappointing, new restaurant already in need of services from«Bar Rescue». Waitress Kristen/Kristy very nice and attentive! Food decent but overpriced. Indoor restaurant in need of some sound proofing, way to loud couldn’t hear friends that we were dining with… Kristen tried to move us outside which is better dining experience… Some strange man walked over to our table and said rudely that table is taken??? Found out later he was owner… Never introduced himself or asked how our dining experience was? Spent $ 180 …won’t return… Will be spending $$ at Hudson Water Club… Have been there many times before and happy to return!

ZEROSTARS. AVOIDTHISDININGDISASTER. SECONDTIMEATTHISRESTAURANT. FIRSTTIMEWASGOOD. This time nothing but very bad service, inattentive wait staff plus an owner who wants to please his friends not paying customers. Two tables seated after us Were served first, appetizers came out before drinks bread and water. Meal totally not sequenced properly. Bartender could not make mojitos. Table not bussed. Had to ask for water bread and drinks more than once. Desert was a joke as waiter thought busboy would clear table. Go to Union or u Noodles instead. ½ a mile a way. A lifetime better food and service plus an owner that cares about paying customers
