A-1 Transmission Service

This place is a Catch 22.
Why? Because the prices are great, but service is horrible. I needed to rebuild my transmission on an older Hyundai. Went around to about 8 shops for quotes including A-​1 and they were the cheapest by almost 25%!
So we agreed to move forward and was informed the car should be ready in about a week and a half. Almost 5 weeks later (yes, you read that correctly) they were finally done. Luckily I did not need the car immediately so I was good to go. By coincidence when I was dropping my car off the owner was arguing with another couple about why their repair was taking so long relative to what they were told, I guess I’m not an isolated incident.
Here is the other issue. We agreed for $ 900 flat, when I pick up the car firstly, they wouldn’t let me test drive it. Only the mechanic was allowed to drive the car with me in it. They told me they never had anyone ask to test the car before payment. I thought that was really weird but didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. So now comes the invoice and it is about $ 100 more (charges for fluid and tax, etc) than what we agreed on! Basically trying to change the price on me last minute. I told the owner we agreed to $ 900 and he quickly changed the price back down to $ 900 (plus $ 52 for changing the speedometer sensor of some sort that wasn’t part of the transmission).
Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. They are however one of the cheapest transmission shops in town and their work comes with a 1 year /​12k warranty. Hopefully I don’t have to run into a situation where I put their warranty to the test.

before going here i called around many different shops and A-​1s price was lower than most. their customer service and effiency was outstanding and quality unmatched.
i would definitely recommend this shop for anyone who wants awesome service and most important, a peace of mind of quality and realiable work.
