This is a little hidden place, do know that if you choose to go to this restaurant is for the food and not for the looks of the place… I would’t say this is «The best» seafood place, but for the prices and for what’s around this is as good as it gets… The times I’ve been there I order Ceviche/Shrimp Ceviche, which I do think they put too much ketchup… but I do like it… Their shrimp Cocktail is very good and always their food tastes fresh. They also make their own tostadas… Keep in mind this restaurant is CASHONLY and No cards accepted, which sometimes has been an inconvinience.

This place is great! The ceviche de camaron is bomb, and super cheap at $ 2 a tostada! We usually hit this place for lunch on Fridays. They also make a killer michelada! Service is always good, and the beer is always cold. No complaints other than it’s CASHONLY! I mean, c’mon guys. Get together already.

This place is amazing!!! My family was in town and asked for the best seafood, so naturally, I brought them here. It’s a family operated restaurant and they treat you like family from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. We had the ceviche and it was pure bliss. Very relaxed atmosphere, great for the whole family and reasonable prices. We definitely found our marisco spot for good! This place is a hidden gem in Hawthorne.

This place deserves a 0. I fought my mother 3 tostadas the ceviche(camaron) and to her surprise it included a human fingernail! Are you fu***** serious?! Never returning to this place.

Mariscos guillen is definitely a place to enjoy great food. You get to choose from tacos, burritos to shrimp tacos and cocktails. Great experience, great food and service was excellent. My favorite, ceviche de camaron and the tostadas so addicting you can’t stop eating them.

We took the family here for lunch while we visited LA. Everything was very good. The chicken quesadilla was big enough for our two small children with leftovers for us to sample. And the aguachiles were wonderful. Very, very spicy and packed with flavor. A great experience if you happen to be in this part of the city.

Excellent burritos for a good price. Quickly became a lunch regular here. I like the chicken and vegetarian the best and the horchata is great too. Remember cash only. Space around the ordering counter is a little awkward when it’s busy, but I can’t blame them, it’s just a weird layout inside. They’re running a pretty tight ship.

Oh! my goodness. This place is gross.. When I first walked in the person just ask what would you like to order. I said cerviche. They have small, medium and large. I order large which was $ 14.00. He gave me a ticket and I sat down. He asked how did I hear about this place? I said, from Unilocal. I received my fish ceviche and when I tell you it was ketchup all through the cerviche. It was more for a shrimp cocktail. The fish was very fishy it almost taste like catfish. Uuug. Never never again.

No stars for this place. The ceviche is overpowered with ketchup and the fish tacos have no flavor. The coctel had no flavor either. Not the best place I have ate.

I was turned onto Mariscos Guilen by a coworker who«swore by» this place’s ceviche. Being that I have a fairly high stander for ceviche I decide to give it a go. This place is LEGIT! The restaurant does not have a ‘scene’ per say I mean we are taking basic tables and chairs and a sketch drawing of Cantinflas on the wall kinda of place. The ceviche here(I got the fish) is SOOOO good. It is somehow savory and tangy unlike any ceviche I have had. Ceviche tostadas are $ 3 each which they could easily double the price for the flavor. Also, the aguachile here is OFFTHECHAIN. I can’t stress the freshness of it all it is amazing and big enough to split between 2 people. This place has become a Friday traddition!!! My order usually consist of 2 tostadas of fish ceviche and an order of aguachile. I hear the tacos here are good too but I have never veered from my usual order. Worth the drive out here if you are not in the area.

I agree with the others who say it’s a good place if you want a cheap mariscos fix and that’s exactly what I had. The first impression when I walked in was that it was clean and had the common blue/white interior color scheme. I waited on one side of the dining room so I only saw a handful of Jesus-related items, but I wasn’t too creeped out… anyway. I ordered the shrimp ceviche tostada and a cabeza torta, totaling $ 7(NOTE: cash only and their prices include tax, which I like). It was a pretty busy lunch service so it took a good 10 – 15 mins before my take-out order was ready.(NOTE: if you’re pressed for time like I am for lunch, call ahead for takeout orders). For $ 2, the shrimp ceviche tostada(deconstructed tostada) comes with a small container of ceviche,(4) tostada rounds, limes and hot sauce. That’s a damn good deal if you’re on a limited budget! I understand what people were saying about the ceviche not being tart but I definitely wouldn’t call it sweet. It’s a different style of ceviche with more of a tomato base and lacks that super sharp citrus bite than most shrimp ceviches have, but you can always add more lime. It’s also chopped pretty fine so it spreads nicely on the tostada. This was my first experience with this type of ceviche and I really enjoyed it. I’ll pull my punches a little on the torta since this is the turf part of their repertoire. They need to trim their cabeza/cachete. There was way too much connecting tissue that made the torta unpleasant to eat. It was like eating a torta filled with moose gash that had bits of meat nestled between. I’ll go with another meat next time. Aside from the barbaric preparation of the cabeza, the torta was well-constructed with a nice roll and all the components worked well with each other. I’m going to place an order over the phone today and see how it goes. I see myself becoming a regular here. FOLLOW-UP I called in my pick-up order 20 mins in advance and my order still needed a couple minutes before it was ready. This lunch was even busier than last time, so I’m going to call in my order 30 mins ahead to give the necessary time to make it. It’s a little chaotic at the registers when it’s busy. I tried the carnitas torta this time and it was much nicer than the cabeza nightmare previous. There were only(3) tostada rounds on this trip and they didn’t include the plastic bag with radishes and pickled carrots/jalapenos for the torta. It seems like they are inconsistent when it comes to takeout orders.

I had the ceviche Cameron tostada for 2 bucks and when it came to the table it was a fully loaded shrimp tostada. It was very delicious and a great price. I also tried the al ajo Camarones and that was so tasty and it came with rice avocado and like side Krinkle lettuce for $ 10 I will definitely be back do them. I tried the cocktel de Camarones and it was very refreshing. Last but not least the French fries were very crunchy and soft. I loved it. Will definitely be back for a second round. Also they didn’t charge tax and they take cash only p. s. If you like coke in a glass bottle they are served here as well !!

Best Ceviche de Camaron and tacos de pescados chauuuuu perfection. The most convenient place for a great hangover cure, shrimp cocktail is the best hangover medicine for a crazy night, also I think they should consider expanding the menu to other Mexican items since they serve tacos and burritos why not expand the menu, this spot should expand and serve some margaritas for the lady’s. They should also get a CC machine instead of only cash!

No frills. Good food. Cheap. That’s the best way to describe this place. Honestly, this place has some excellent mariscos and you’re not going to find it for any cheaper anywhere else. Only bummer is that they’re cash only. I’ve had their shirmp quesadilla which was huge. The shrimp were seasoned well and super yummy. Plus, the quesadilla came with rice and beans… all for $ 6.50! You can’t beat that. My boyfriend got a torta mixta and it was a huge heap of seafood. So yummy and only 5 bucks. They serve bottle beer here and also offer Micheladas. Need I say more? No frills. Good Food. Cheap.

Definitely one of the better hole in the wall mexican spots! I am a huge taco fan and this place has one of the best carne asada tacos I’ve ever had. And trust me, I’ve been to 90% of the taco trucks in San Diego. There home made chips and salsa is spicy but not overly spicy where its impossible to enjoy. The chicken taco was good, kinda of tasted like the el carbon chicken taco from el pollo loco but better. I also had the shrimp taco which wasn’t bad but the carne asada was by far, the best. You can expect me back!

Camarones a la diabla. Ok well the name of this dish says it all. It’s suuuuuper spicy. This is not for whimps… It’s deliciously spicy and the red sauce addicting even though it’s so spicy. This dish was made for those who love extra spicy shrimp. My mouth was on fire and my lips were numb by the time I finished my meal… With that said, this was so good. Oh And the campechana is the the bomb too.

Chicharron burrito! ;) Small mom and pop local joint that serves up some pretty aunthentic Mexican eats! Nothing fancy to see here with the décor from the outside and inside, just some delicious goods to chow down on! They have a pretty large menu with something delicious for everyone from meat to seafood they got it and for very reasonable pricing. My all time go to dish here is the Chicharron burrito! Just something about the way the meat(pork) is crunchy yet meaty and juicy at the same time gets me! Definitely a must try! And it’s not too fatty either like some Chicharron can be, it’s just perfect. :) I usually order to go and enjoy it else where because the dining area is not too welcoming for my dining taste and on hot days it’s really hot in there! Also it’s a hit or miss with the person at the cash register taking orders, the guy who is usually there is not very friendly but I just want my burrito THAT bad that I look past his attitude and enjoy my meal anyway; I hope they do something about the service soon though. So if you want some well made Mexican burritos and for a good price, this is the place for you! Happy eats, loves! ^_^
