Love, love, love my local bookstore! They always have the books I am looking for, and they even know my name — I just love how friendly everyone is! It is my first stop for kids books and gifts — they have a great kids section!

Met my sons favorite author there, Dan Gutman. He arrived promptly and we were first ones there. He chatted with my son and signed his book. Thanks Dan! What a great experience in the cutest book store well kept and organized with a great friendly staff. They even offer free coffee and select teas… How nice is that? Loved this store, we will be back. Thanks for encouraging young readers like you do:)

I heard about this place randomly through the owner’s wife(Full disclosure — she was my son’s nursery school teacher a few years ago). I decided to stop in once just to see what was going on and say hi. Now, though, it’s my default stop for any gift occasion, and with a first– and second-grader, kid birthday parties roll around constantly. While the store is not a giant chain, they have a good mix of books that cut across genres. They’re friendly, pleasant, sincere, and I shop there every chance I get. You should too.

When you walk into the book shop, you immediately get a sense of the owner Bill Skees. There is a warm, inviting, friendly feeling to the store & you just know that all your questions will be addressed. Although not a big store there is a great selection of books for every category. Bill is a wealth of knowledge & very accomodating. It is a wonderful place to frequent & certainly a great alternative to the big chain bookstores.

I stopped in here the other day to see if I pick up a book while visiting the area. This was a nice little place, clean and in order. The owners were very friendly and overly zealous to help in any way they could. Unfortunately this place doesn’t have much of a selection within each category. They did seem to have an ample amount of teen vampire books… Nice place, nice owners, but I won’t be coming back on any other visits to the area.

New bookstore located on Lafayette Ave. The owner is very friendly and was able to answer a few questions we had on availability of some books. Nice atmosphere and good change from going to the«big box/chain» bookstores.

Take the time to visit the Well Read Book Store. It is not on a highway but a few turns off Rt 208 at 425 Lafayette Ave in Hawthorne. It is a deep store and owner Bill Skees, who can walk to work and often does, has put to good use. There is a wide selection of mostly new but a few used books. (He does buy used books for store credit.) There are(2) very comfortable stuff chairs They offer complimentary coffee & tea. Bill’s specialty is sci-fi but that is a small section of the store. I was looking for a book from a small press in TX. Bill was able to get it for me quickly. Since I purchased 20 for gifts. He gave me a decent discount. There hours are 9 — 8 M– Th 9 – 9 fri & sat, 1 — 6 on Sun. Web site: Gift it a try and let me know what you think via Unilocal.

An great new Indie Bookstore that is comfortable and covers all the categories from children, teens, health, fitness, to travel, sci-fi, fiction, non fiction, etc. Both new and used books, large selection of note & special event cards. Good parking available. The owner Bill Skees is dedicated to helping you find a great read. My husband and I highly recommend this bookstore.
