Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa

A quick update after having spent a year as a client at this business. A few months ago I was ready to cancel my membership, I’d been cut short on my time again (and a 3^rd time recently) and hadn’t yet found a therapist worth the monthly subscription service. That changed, and now I’m happy I didn’t drop it. Cannot recommend Crystal enough — she’s knowledgable and listens to my needs. I leave satisfied and have even extended my massage from the 50 min to 90 min on a few occasions. I knock off a star not because of the therapist, but the late start times I’ve encountered 3 times now.

I came here around six months ago, and it was good, so my wife and I decided to come back and get a RELAXING couple’s massage. First, they charged us for a whole hour when they only did 40 minutes. Claiming the first ten minutes are for consultation, when there was only 2 minutes of «consultation». The therapist I had must have been on steroids. I had told them during the «consultation» that I had six herniated disks in my back and two surgeries. I had to ask the therapist three times to reduce pressure. Three different times! So much for relaxation. The worst part was that when we complained to the owner, he still charged us for the entire hour. I thought it was illegal to charge for something you didn’t provide. Lost my business.

Worst massage ever, the body worker talked non stop through out and asked personal questions that were so inappropriate. I called and complained and they didn’t seem to care.

Chris was amazing, one of the best massages I’ve had in awhile! For someone who needs work on there back more than just the relaxation he’s the guy. He’s very personable and knowledge and actually explains what he’s doing and why certain areas are sore/​bothering you.
The only thing I’d have to say is to get baskets for the clients clothing it’s a little awkward hanging your clothes up or just throwing them on the chair in the room. Other than that I have returned and will be a returning customer.

I just left from having my first ever facial and Bhamini was wonderful. She took care of my sensitive skin and made it feel brand new! She helped me to customize my facial without «selling» me on upgrades. Staff was wonderful, clean establishment, nice and quiet too

Let’s be honest is there really such a thing as a bad massage? I forget the name of the woman I had, she was pretty good. Not the best massage, not the worst. For the price it’s good but when I really want to treat myself to a wicked good massage I would head back to my regular place in DC! Nusta Spa!

I just went there today and I absolutely love it! The place is so pretty and luxurious. The staff is all so nice. The owner wad there as well and he was very welcoming. I had Chris who is amazing. I went in for a deep tissue massage. I had severe pain in my lower back and shoulders and he worked it right out. I feel amazing. I definitely recommend him! The prices were very reasonable as well!

I tried Hand and Stone out of a last minute effort to get a massage, as LaVida Massage (my usual place) was booked up that night. The initial presentation of the spa is very sleek and modern, and the employee at the front desk was very pleasant. The facility appeared pretty standard in terms of the set up for a massage place (comparable to LaVida Massage and Massage Envy), and everything appeared very clean. When my therapist escorted me back to my room I asked for a chest pillow, as I experience great discomfort when I lie on my chest during massages; however, I was informed by my therapist that they do not have a chest pillow there. That is my first main issue… not towards the therapist but to whoever owns the business; how in the world can you operate a massage business and not even invest in a few $ 50 chest pillows for your clients’ comfort? Anyway, so the room was also clean, but there was a metal folding chair in the room to put your clothes on which was tacky. Also, the sheets were very thin and the blanket was also thin and of poor quality. Lastly, the face rest cover smeled musty, and — I hate jumping to conclusions– but a day or so after my massage my face had the worst breakout I have had in years, and the breakout was primarliy in the areas which had the contact with the facerest cover!!! In regards to the actual massage, when I booked it I asked for a therapist who could do deep pressure, and I got «Karen», who was super nice and sweet, but did not do deep enough pressure for me despite me asking her to kick it up a notch or two during the actual massage. I have read other reviews on here that gave great ratings, so I’m sure I may have given it more stars if I had a different therapist, but my main complaint from a customer perspective is that the management needs to change a few minor things (the linens– quality AND cleanliness, the room décor, and buy some darn chest pillows!) which would have a major impact. If I had been more pleased with those aspects then I would say I would be returning to try another therapist, but because of those things I mentioned I will not give this place any more of my money… I’ll be sticking to my reliable LaVida Massage in Gainesville!

Wonderful experience! Chevisa gave me a really relaxing facial. Right now, their website has an offer for a free 10 minute foot treatment which I was able to take advantage of too… such a great way to complete the awesome facial:) Front desk staff were super friendly, and the owner made me feel welcome. I will certainly recommend Hand and Stone to friends! Thank you for making my visit a memorable one:)

I went to Hand and Spa for a facial. By far the best facial I have ever had! I bought into into their plan and scheduled a massage for next month.

One of the best massages I have ever had. Request Kassi she knows how to work the muscles. Very clean & comfortable. Front desk staff was also pleasant.

I stopped by on my way for Starbucks and found out they had a promo deal. I love a good facial and my hubby needs someone that can work his back. I don’t have enough muscle or skill to work his muscles!
Our appointments were made for the same time which was convenient. The staff are very friendly. My facial was great and the bed is heated!
My hubby enjoyed his massage and just to put any worries aside… they are professional and there are no happy endings. Lol. I had to say it!
They offer a great monthly plan. I would love to get a facial a month, but life gets too busy for that. I will be back for sure!

Experienced the Hot Stone Massage for the first time and OMG it was amazing!!! Highly, highly reccommend Hand and Stone Spa in haymarket to everyone in need of a massage or facial. Its the best way to enjoy quality «me» time!
