Ana’s Elegant Braids

*****Update******2/13/16. I will never get my hair done here anymore. Again the ladies are friendly but that doesn’t excuse the way my twists look and how utterly disappointed I am with my hair.
I dont usually write reviews and I was going to wait to write a review until i went on Saturday ²⁄₁₃ to have my hair fixed but after a braid slipped right out in the front of my head today i couldn’t wait any longer. 1^st let me say the women at this shop are very friendly however I am very disappointed in the quality of the wotk i received. My hair looks a mess. I paid for the $ 200 Senegalese Twist but she did them huge. I told her in the beginning they were tooooooo big but the braider insisted that they were not and i would love them (NOTTTT). When she finished my hair i told hair again they were huge and she said nothing. I was in a rush because I had to get to work so i paid and left. When i got to wotk I inspected my hair. My hair looks like the braids have split ends and they were already starting to unravel on the first day ²⁄₅ (it hasn’t even been a week yet).
They are all different lengths and sizes (been getting braids since i was 12 and they have né er looked like this). I called the day after i got my hair done and got no answer so i left a message. I called several times from my cell and nothing, so i said let me try from my work phone, literally after i hung up for my cell with like the 5^th or 6^th call and still no answered i called from work and they picked up immediately (guess because they didn’t know the number). Anyway i spoke with the owner (I thought her name was Ana but it’s not) and she had the lady that braided my hair call me back to ask what was wrong and all i could think was hmmm you messed my head up and why are you calling me if i was speaking with the owner. Anyway i will update this review after Saturday when they fix it…

I have been coming here off and on for about 6 years and have never had an issue. They are friendly and accommodating and always willing to do whatever it takes to make you look and feel great! The woman that runs it, makes sure that all your needs are met and you leave satisfied. I don’t mind paying $ 180+ for great braids and amazing customer service!

I’ve been here on more than one occasion due to the fact that I don’t have the time/​courage to experiment with a new braider. I tried someone new at a different salon and had a HORRIFIC experience (read my other review). So while I absolutely LOVED the braids the first time, the 2^nd and even 3^rd times I came, I was quoted a considerably higher price ($ 40 extra) for larger braids in the same style. I don’t know if they were trying to pull a fast one on me or what. Since then, we have agreed on a fixed price. Also, you can expect that one too many braids are going to come lose or fall out. Sometimes there are even braids (human hair micros) without glue on them. I would only recommend if you are willing to pay $ 180+ for very nice-​looking braids and are willing to spend ALL DAY (and possibly nights in some cases) as they are rather slow compared to other places I’ve been.
Update: I had to add one more star to my rating. I’ve tried other places around the bay and even though they are a little bit slower here, the workmanship is definitely better than other shops I’ve been to. They are also very accommodating as far as fitting you in quickly. However, if you’re annoyed by people speaking in other languages while getting you’re hair braided, this is definitely not the place to come. Regardless, they are very sweet people and they definitely work hard to have you come out looking great.
