Me and my husband love coming here. We always get the juevos a la Mexicana with extra tortillas. This place is clean, attentive with great customer service. Perfect place for breakfast after church.

I ordered the red chilaquiles and I thought they were watery and basic. I read the reviews and was expecting more. The service was good and the food was made fresh which I appreciated.

I thought the food was good good. The French toast had a very good flavor and also the potatoes were very good. Although I absolutely enjoyed my meal I also had the chance to eat so of my fiancés chili chilaquiles. To be honest It was watery but the bean and rice were very tasty. The location is on the corner so you can’t miss it. Parking my be a problem if you come for breakfast on weekends.

The food was ok but nothing to write home about. I’m a gluten-free diner so the only things I felt were safe to eat was the chicken apple sausage breakfast plate with country potatoes and scrambled eggs. Basic food but I was hoping that Anna’s would’ve added some extra seasonings to add some pizazz to an otherwise plain meal. I would probably come back if I was in the area and needed a quick bite to eat, but definitely not driving out of my way to come here or see me craving their food anytime soon.

This is home cooking for sure. The refried beans are incredible. Just like home(they use bacon fat and it is simply delicious.) This is a hometown coffee shop at it’s finest and I wish there was something like this place back home. I had the nopales and chorizo scramble. Wonderful. I just finished eating and I can’t wait to come back again.

My husband and I went to Anna’s last Sunday. I had never been before and since I’ve been on a streak of trying out all of the breakfast places in the Hayward/Castro Valley area, I was in the mood to try somewhere new and picked Anna’s. We got to the restaurant around 10:30am on Sunday and the two of us waited about 10 minutes. The restaurant itself is cute — the building has a triangle rooftop with low ceilings and is cozy and comfy inside. The service was good and I like that their menu is extensive/options are inexpensive. I ordered their Chicken Apple Sausage Omelet which came with Country Potatoes and wheat toast. My order came looking great, a nice portion, and not greasy at all(plus!). The only thing that was missing was that my food was surprisingly very bland — after getting through half of my plate, I just didn’t feel that satisfaction that I get from a delicious breakfast plate. I added salt to my food which I never do. Maybe they’re better suited for their Mexican breakfast plates, which many of the diners seemed to order. Overall my experience was just okay — not sure if my meal was just a one off, however, I’m unsure if I would return given there are other favorites in the area for me.

I’ve been trying different restaurants whenever I decide to eat out and my favorites are small breakfast establishments. our hostess and waitress was very nice. she came around just enough to not make us feel like we were forgotten and not too much to make us feel like she was breathing down our necks. Their food is exactly what I expect from a breakfast restaurant. They even have a Mexican breakfast menu which gives it their unique twist on breakfast. I would definitely come back here for a quick, delicious breakfast.

Food was great prices were also great I will choose this place over any ihop or dennys in a heartbeat, the wait for our food was normal a little long but well worth it definitely especially since the waiters were also very friendly!

Never thought I’d have rice and beans for breakfast but I have been here 3 times and have ordered the house plate all 3 times. Its rice, refried beans with chorizo and potatoes scrambled. Always consistent! Very filling. Will be coming here atleast once a week.

This divey establishment has some really tasty food. Located on the corner(literally) of Jackson and Grand in Hayward, I left Anna’s Family Coffee Shop feeling like I just added a breakfast place into my rotation. The food was excellent and surprising; I got the pancake breakfast that includes two eggs, two sausage, two bacon strips, and hash browns for 9.95 – I went a little nuts and ordered a third pancake which was 2 bucks(yes yes, it’s a lot of food I know but the aroma in the air was so damn good). Everything on my plate was awesome(pancakes themselves are 3.5 out of 5), including nicely cooked eggs, well-done bacon, and high quality sausage. The hashbrowns were not greasy. My partner-in-breakfast-crime got the taco and enchilada plate for 9.75; she attests that it was really awesome and noted, «If taco bell made tacos like this they’d be rich.»(Editor’s note; they are rich). The restaurant has a counter where there appeared to be people grabbing stuff to go, tables, and booths near the window. They look like they have expanded the area over the years to include an extra dining room for overflow. Bathrooms were clean but had no mirrors(hey maybe they have vampire clientele). Anyway, one thing I have to mention is the restaurant seemed to attract ‘all walks of life.’ Hayward is a culturally rich and diverse area, I get that; but, I noticed that there was a disheveled man at the counter slumped over and wavering in his seat. He seemed to be sleeping in his coffee mug! Imagine, Tom Hanks from the movie Cast Away(the Tom Hanks AFTER he was on the island for quite a while) and you’ll get a picture of the type of guy I’m talking about. The silver-lining was that he seemed polite and also appeared to know the staff. So, looking at this observation from a «glass-half-full» kind of perspective, one may assume that the people who work at Anna’s are really nice and cater to neighborhood regulars(homeless or not). The glass-half-empty way… well I’ll hold judgment as see what it’s like the next time I’m there. And, by golly, there will be a next time.

Anna’s is my new best breakfast to beat in Hayward! It’s a very unassuming little shack on the outside, but it’s so cute and homey inside. Our waitress was really sweet. The price was right too — $ 12 fed two people. Enough about that — the food was great! This is a rarity for breakfast in Hayward. My friend got the waffle combo, which comes with 2 strips of bacon and some eggs. I just got a side of country potatoes and took the waffle. Eggs and bacon were both reported to be «good». I’m very picky about my potatoes, and these country potatoes were fab. Soft on the inside, crispy and crunchy on the outside. That’s a potato done right! I could’ve been happy with 2 orders of these. The waffle was done a little more than I like, but it was very thick and soft. Very nice and sweet with the syrup and butter. There are a lot of Mexican items on the menu, and most customers around us were ordering those. They also have a lunch & dinner menu. I’ve been searching for a place that can do a solid and cheap breakfast in Hayward. I think I’ve finally found my spot. Thanks, Anna’s!

I’ve driven/walked by this place my entire life and always wondered how it was. This past weekend, I finally decided to find out. The place was bigger than I thought it would be, but it’s still very small. We were told it would be about a 20 minute wait, which was fine. I spent the next 20 minutes perusing their vast collection of religious paraphernalia. Hats, jewelry, brochures, comics… You name it. I found it pretty strange for a breakfast place to be so obviously(almost forcefully?) religious, but hey, to each his own. I ordered the linguica and eggs while the boyfriend got the house special. Both were fine, but what I really appreciated was the house-made salsa that was served with it. SO good.

This place is disgusting… dirty dishes crappy food they don’t give a crap about customer service and over priced for the quality of food horrible coffee … wish Unilocal would give option to give zero stars… probably one of the worst breakfast spots I’ve been to better off going to Mc Donalds up the street

Love the chilaquiles in red sauce here, and that they do not charge for things like extra salsa and sour cream — but the service leaves a bit to be desired. My friend and I waited almost 40 minutes for our food and all we ordered were pancakes and the aforementioned chilaquiles. I would still come back though! I hadn’t been back since I was in high school(they happened to be open on Labor Day and I was meeting a friend for breakfast) and it’s great that they’ve stayed open all this time — one of the longer running mom and pop places in this neck of the woods.

decent service and good food We ordered the Chorizo omelet. IIt was Mexican style. How to describe it? It was different. Their chorizo is fresh and homemade. It was on the meatier side for me but it was still good. I think i am used to the traditional American style omelet. It also came with toast and hashbrowns ! 3.8÷5 I would def come back to try the other dishes !

Anna’s is very close, so it’s not surprising we’ve been here three times for breakfast already. They serve up traditional diner breakfasts and Mexican specialties. Don’t ask why, but I’ve ordered the same thing every time — The Mix Plate, which comes with eggs scrambled with chorizo and cactus, rice and beans. It also comes with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. I always get corn. It comes with a small side of salsa. Don’t skip it! It compliments the breakfast perfectly. The cactus, something I’d never eaten, gives the meal a delightful tang. Each tortilla is filled with some of the egg mixture, rice, beans and a spoonful of salsa. So delicious! There is always plenty left after the tortillas are gone. Everything on the plate gets mixed together(Mix Plate — get it?) and topped with salsa. It’s very tasty. I’m considering skipping the tortillas next time. It is a lot of food and I really enjoy the flavor of the meal by itself. Perhaps next time I’ll try something different.

This is probably my most-frequented diner-esque place in the Bay Area, and I’m usually rather apathetic about breakfast food. It’s a great stop for really well-made, quality breakfast food and super friendly service. The restaurant itself doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and cozy, with booth seating as well as table seating. The waitresses who work here are incredibly friendly and attentive, and they always seem like they’re having the best time working here. The menu has traditional breakfast foods, burgers, and Mexican options that always look so good(but I’ve yet to try because I can never escape the allure of the breakfast foods). Scrambled eggs, two sausages, two strips of bacon, two slices of French toast, and hash browns: ( ) This is my favorite breakfast combination to get, as it has the protein, the carbs, and the indulgence. For around $ 10, this is a satisfyingly generous plate, and the quality is there as well as the quantity. The scrambled eggs were fluffy but not overly so, and I could taste the freshness of the eggs. The sausages and bacon were decent, but I was really a fan of the fragrant hash browns and French toast. The hash browns were mealy and soft on the inside while crispy on the outside, and the French toast was really fresh and flavorful. It maybe fell a tiny bit short to the French toast at Denica’s in Dublin, but it was more than reasonable for the asking price. Mediterranean omelet and hash browns: ( ) This omelet had a filling combination I hadn’t seen before, but it was delicious. The flavors of the olives and feta cheese really came through, and there’s something about the creaminess of feta mixed with eggs that is so satisfying. This combination also came with toast, and there’s the option of having wheat, sourdough, an English muffin, or white. The toast does come buttered though, so if you don’t like butter, let the waitress know beforehand. Two pancakes, two eggs, two bacon, two sausages, and hash browns: ( ) This is essentially the same plate with the exception of replacing French toast with pancakes. I’ve always been a French toast girl(if you couldn’t tell by now), but these pancakes were incredibly fluffy. If I had to be nitpicky, I’d say they were almost a bit too fluffy and veered a bit towards the sweet side. If airy and sweet is what you like though, this would be a good bet. The over easy eggs are always done well here as well, and I generally switch it up between that and scrambled. I’ll definitely continue to be back. See you soon, Anna’s!
