Best Cook Express

Not sure if this place’s name is still Best Cook Express (neon sign was partially off), but it was still easy to find.
There was a line (a good sign!) when I arrived, and other people seemed to be regular customers (another good sign). There was no sign to tell which item is what (you know at some places, you can’t tell what’s in the food) but food looked fresh and identifiable.
The florescent light box menu was hard to read. When I asked the server how much it will be to have STEAMED rice and 3 items, I was told it would be same as fried rice/​noodle + 3 item combo. So I decided to have just ‘lunch box’ which is one item w/​steamed rice, and I am glad I did. They used the same container as for other combo and filled ½ with steamed rice and another half with my choice of entrée, chicken asparagus with black bean sauce. It was less than $ 4 for so much food; enough for my dinner, lunch and more.
Will have to go back there to try other entrees.

Im still not sure what to think of this place

not the greatest but definitely better than the venue a block away. The tell tale sign is the fact that the kaiser nurses frequent this place rather than the other place a block away.

Inexpensive, delicious and treats my anus like the delicate flower that it used to be. My buddy jim and i feasted like kings and gossiped like queens all for under 10 bucks. I may have found my new go to spot for delicious flavorful chinese food. Only 2 blocks from school, looks like my anus is going to get pampered this semester… p. s. order the chicken special. It is very special indeed, if it were a girl, i would never, ever cheat on it.

I love this place. You can get a 2 item for less then $ 5. YOU HAVE TO GET THE SPECIAL CHICKEN. That is the best item on the menu. The food taste good and its cheap… perfect for lunch because they have fast and friendly staff. They know me since i go there a lot. I would A++ the management.

Best Cook Express Chinese and Dim Sum To Go is a fairly new chinese take out. I started coming here when China Cook (about 1 block away) started to raise their price to a point that I was no longer interested going there except for the soup.
I am glad that I found Best Cook Express so that now for lunch I can get my Chinese Food and not feel that I’m overpaying. Though they don’t have the selection as China Cook, their food taste just as good. While they don’t have the BBQ Chicken or soups, they do have here the BBQ Pork Buns. Also they have this item called the «Special Chicken» which is really really good.
Also their prices are about $ 1 less for the combo meals than China Cook. You can get a 1 item plate for around $ 3.50 and a 2 item place for arount $ 4.00 here where as China Cook it starts around $ 4.50 +.
So overall, if you don’t mind driving the extra block and just looking for Chinese Food, I would recommend Best Cook Express for your quick in and out Chinese take if you’re in the area.
