Fish is mostly frozen. I’m not really sure what is fresh here. Honestly I expected a trout dish, as the place is right next to the Russian river. Not many new people come in, very local community. The décor is awesome. Plus the AC is always on. Honestly, I’m pissed I spent 32 $ here.

I have to say… Sake O is getting better and better as the years go by! I’m only writing a review in this moment because I’m craving their rolls! They have a new roll(I think it’s new) that I tried with my son on Mother’s Day. It’s called the Lion King Roll. Oh my gosh! To die for!!! It surprised me. Sake O has never been fancy or pretentious, I don’t feel as if they are trying to be anything they are not. Simple, consistently good, Japanese food. True, the owners are not Japanese, but the food is. I read someone complaining about the décor… don’t dock them for that… it just ads character to the place. I even gave them some Japanese art at some point… I don’t know where it ended up… clearly not on the walls! But Sake O is not out to impress with anything but their food… which is why I love it. Good price points. Consistent quality. Service is ok, not the greatest… and the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars… but it’s not because of attitudes, just sometimes slow. Not always. Sometimes. They have their core staff, all family I think, so when it gets busy… you can tell. I always find them friendly and committed to their clients. Rainbow Roll, Lion King Roll, Miso Soup, Hot Sake… done!

Good but not the best. I would return here again, and there were some things that I did enjoy. This is an interesting sushi spot given that it is not run by Japanese. I believe the main lady is a Chinese woman. She works at the sushi bar but is regularly barking orders at the rest of the kitchen and wait-staff. Friendly and stern woman. She clearly runs the show. While there for lunch we ordered the following items: Hawaiian roll, carburetor roll, hamachi crudo with jalapeño, salmon and mango roll, and spicy California hand roll. Of the food we had, I would recommend the hamachi as the best dish. The fish was of a higher quality, the sauce was very tasty and fresh. Yummmm. The hawaiin roll was ok, nothing special. I would say their sushi rice could be improved(a little bit). Their salmon and mango roll was ok but I wasn’t a huge fan of the salmon. The salmon tasted ok but it definitely wasn’t super fresh or of the highest quality. The carburetor was good but not the best that I have every had. They do not have fresh real crab for the«crab salad» portion of the roll. While their imitation may be «good» it still isn’t the same as having a fresh crab salad. Two places come to mind that do a better version of the carburetor(Jojo sushi in Santa Rosa and Sushi Hana in Sebastopol). Overall, I would go back if it was convenient but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return here. I would give it a 6 out of 10 rating for sushi bars in the area. No question that Hana Sushi in Rohnert Park is the best. Jojo Sushi in Santa Rosa is second. Ume in Windsor is Third. Sushi Hana in Sebatopol would be next and rated fourth. I would then possibly rank Sake O next up on the list. Pros: open all day, quick service at the sushi bar, extensive sake list, some tasty items on the menu. Cons: fish is of decent quality but not comparable to the«best of the best» fish quality. This is a good spot for local sushi… maybe more of a lunch occasion.

This restaurant is EVERYTHING I love about a Sushi Restaurant. It is very cozy with a nice sushi bar. There are two VIP booths that face the entire restaurant that make you feel important. The Unagi was flavorful and crisp, the avocado was fresh, the Salmon was delicious, the Ikura was very very tasty and the ginger salad dressing was really yummy. The prices are affordable which I feel is almost impossible to find now. I can’t wait to go back. I am so happy to have found this restaurant.

Atmosphere very mellow and relaxing. Service was very exceptional. Miso soup was very very good. Over all, other food was pretty good too. We enjoyed our experience and don’t have anything bad or negative to say about it.

Sushi was delicious with very fresh raw fish and very reasonable prices for Healdsburg. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the restaurant décor needs some work. But I will be back when I’m in the area and want sushi/Japanese food.

Great sashimi and sushi, lacking in service! The sashimi combo was fresh and 5 star quality. The sushi rolls were great, especially bathe Crazy Roll and Tokyo Roll. But the most unbelievable were the art pieces on the wall — especially the Wooly Mammoth 3-D painting — definitely a prize-winner from the Best Kitsch Museum in the World.

Had a long wait to be seated and service was on the slow side. Sushi was not fresh, which for me is a no go. I will give them a thumbs up for their vege tempura, was quite good.

Service: had to wait to be seated, and have had to wait for to go orders on a weekday, Every time! If you are a known customer, you get treated better with quicker service than a non-regular. Pushy and rude service, when you are waited on. Food: prawn appetizers look like Cisco or US Food pre made quality. And, to go potions, the quality is poor! 3 pieces of broccoli and not even a half of a wilted potatoes with 3 small carrots to go with teriyaki beef. The restaurant serving was twice as much. Price: WAY expensive give service and food provided. You don’t have to charge high prices because it is located in Healdsburg with high tourism. Consistency would be nice! I won’t go back, and they do not have my recommendation. I will go to windsor or santa rosa if I want Japanese food!

Great sushi! We weren’t expecting much, because Healdsburg isn’t really a place you’d expect to find much sushi, but it was really good. Reasonably priced, clean, good fast service, and tasty. It looks like a small run family business, which I love supporting. We had the shrimp shumai, really good! My husband ordered the spicy tuna roll, and the philly roll. I ordered the tempura shrimp roll and the California roll. They were all tasty, and the sauce on the spicy tuna roll was so good! My only critique would be that I prefer a bit more rice on my sushi, but we ordered a side of rice and ate that with our sushi, so it was no big deal. Great value, fast and courteous service, authentic delicious food! We’ll definitely be coming here again!

Sake O is a yummy little sushi place in Healdsburg, CA. I love coming to this place because the sushi is always delicious and the ginger isn’t the nasty pink one!!! The service isn’t off the charts, because there is usually only on server and another who is bringing out the plates, but this is not an issue that ruins the experience just something to remember if you are waiting on any refills or sides The Martini prawns are thick, juicy, lightly breaded, and smothered in a creamy yet slightly spicy sauce! A MUSTTRY!!! It comes with 6 little prawns so they are perfect for 2 people :) The dynamite roll is fantastic it is served baked with salmon on top of a California roll and drizzle with the martini prawn sauce! The carburetor roll is topped with fresh crab so it’s really filling and quite tasty! Lots of great things to try here and I have always had fresh tasting fish!

Sake O is my go-to sushi place in Healdsburg! My parents live here and I live at Sake O whenever I’m home. I’m a sushi fiend and this restaurant has some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My favorite dishes: –Martini prawns a a must. The lightly breaded prawns are crispy and warm, tossed in a creamy and decadent sauce with the perfect hint of spice! –Shumai is a much lighter appetizer option and is served in an adorable dim sum container with a spicy chili sauce for dipping. –Dynamite roll is so good — a California roll topped with cooked salmon and smothered in the same sauce as the martini prawns and torched just enough to caramelize the top.(My mouth is wateringgg, isn’t yours?) –Utah roll is the most filling sushi roll I’ve ever had. If you’re someone who isn’t exactly satisfied by sushi, this is the way to go! Carborator roll(aka California roll topped with crab) topped with fresh raw tuna… it’s like sushinception! –Volcano roll is one of my favorite rolls, spicy and light, with tuna that’s always perfectly prepared and presented on a beautiful plate(I LOVE spice so I think this roll is delicious, but be cautious if you can’t handle the heat because this has some kick). –Caterpillar roll is solid and beautifully prepared. Really love how fresh the avocado always is and the eel is so tender. –Lemon chicken is my favorite entrée plate and is a great option if you’re not in the sushi mood. Ok being honest… I’ve never ordered this because I’m always in the sushi mood… BUT my brother is a tank who always gets this in addition to sushi and I’ve picked off his plate and know how good it is! –Mango mochi is totally an acquired taste since not everyone is down for ice cream wrapped in dough but I dig it and these are good in that it’s not too doughy. I also hate green tea mochi which is usually the only flavor most restaurants carry, so I appreciate the selection. Be forewarned that they don’t have a ton of mochi on hand and sometimes run out! I’m also pretty sure it’s store bought so don’t expect something homemade. Still whatever brand they’re buying is prime. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As amazing as the food is here it fell short of 5 stars because it is on the pricier side(even for sushi) and the service can get a little slow when the place gets busy since they only have a couple servers. That said, this sushi can’t be beat. For sure the best I’ve had in Sonoma County, top three in Northern California.
