Great place to spend time with friends. Wide and delicious selection of wines and and great beer options for non-wine drinkers.

My favorite place to go to wind down after cross country skiing, hiking, work, or just to meet up with up with friends. Excellent options in wine and snacks too. Extremely friendly, genuine and knowledgable staff and owners, a great addition to Helena.

Let me start by saying that I was not expecting much in my visit to Helena to visit family, but this place blew me away! First off, this place is a serious wine bar, which thrills me as Helena seems like more of a beer out of place. I found bottles of JJ Prum mixed with Li Veli and the like… SUPERIMPRESSED! On top of that the bites they offer are fantastic and fairly priced($ 4-$ 9). Our server was attentive and super knowledgable– which cannot be an easy talent to find in this town. Anyways…This is a fantastic place with fantastic staff and I wish them the best(selfishly, because I would like a place to go out if/when I ever come back to this little corner of the world)! This is my number one favorite place to hang out in town. The atmosphere and service is always warm and friendly, the wine choices are expansive and delicious and the snacks are tasty. I probably spend more time and money here then is warranted, but it’s all worth it!

Not a better place in Helena for wine, great service and company! The snacks are top notch as is the section. Affordable and fun. Jill and Colleen the owners have done a great job training staff and building and loyal clientele.

Cute wine bar. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. She even went out of her way to help find the perfect wine for a gift. A refreshingly friendly venue with quality customer service is rare to find in Helena.

What a delightful addition to the downtown scene! Hawthorne features a eclectic selection of wines not only from California and Oregon, but from around the world. The flight selections are creative and whimsical. The service is friendly, knowledgeable and unpretentious. Snacks include a nice selection of cheese to go with the wine. Definitely a winner!

Looking for a great place to relax with friends over a glass of wine or beer? This warm and welcoming little wine bar is the place to go! Friendly servers help you find the best drink option to fit your mood and occasion — and try out their assorted cheese platter if you get hungry. The variety is fun and filling!

Very good wine at a very affordable price. To eat, we got the charcuterie and the cheese, both very nice. Service is nice and friendly. Last but not least, you can write a postcard and they mail it for you, even to Europe :)

The Hawthorn delivers consistently good customer service, wine and food. I enjoy coming here with friends and dates alike to sample new wines and experience tasty beer cocktails. The food is always changing and at a very reasonable price point. The staff is knowledgable, personable and accommodating. Wine flights are fun if you’d like to explore a region or varietal. Cheese and meats are constantly updated and snacks are made in house. The high quality, pleasant atmosphere and value make the Hawthorn a positive experience every time.

Taking one star off because it is so dark in there, and the menu has impossibly small print. The service was awesome. The wine was great. We will definitely comeback again for some of the food.

This great new wine bar is just what we needed on Last Chance Gulch’s walking mall. Wonder wines. Cool atmosphere. Super service. Fair prices. Good pours. Go try a flight. .. or two. You will love it, too.

This place is awesome! The décor is European, modern and very cool. The wines are great. They let you taste the wines before you order which is a pleasure and nice if you’re not sure what you want. wait staff is super friendly and knowledgable and fast. Their chicken pâté is Amazing! Loves the cheese plate and the jimmy crack corn(I’ve been 3 times– ordered something g different each time). So glad this place is in Helena. They’re now open staring at noon. Great date place or meeting the ladies for a glass of wine!

Ok, I was in Helena for a long weekend and I swung by here.(Disclaimer: My daughter is working here.) I loved it. Great experience. This would be a great«Date» place. From the wonderful selection of wines(many I suspect you won’t find anywhere else) to the cheese plate and another plate I can’t remember the name of… everything was nothing short of amazing. ALL the staff was SUPER fun and helpful… and you could tell that everyone there was seriously enjoying themselves… yes…even the staff. Smiles all around. And this was on a Thursday night! Stopped by on Sat and the place was packed! Tip: Come by 7 or 8 on a weekend… especially if they’ve had a event.

Happy to enjoy the soft opening of this fantastic win bar. The ambiance is fantastic and a fresh addition to the Helena scene. I appreciated the wine variety and the knowledgable staff. Reasonable prices and a delicious selection of appetizers to compliment both red and white wines. I’ll definitely be back. My hats off to this happening new scene and a warm welcome to all they offer. I’m a fan.

Stopped by this evening for a pre-dinner drink and appetizer and ended up staying for over two hours and bagging dinner. A nice variety of wine choices without any of your standard Helena restaurant options. It was busy, but not too loud and there is a nice energy to the place. This is something that Helena needs; quieter and classier than the Helena tap rooms but still lively. Our initial service took a few minutes longer than we might like, but one of the owners took notice and came over and took care of us with great information and advice. They allow you to taste several wines before you order, even for just a glass order, which is nice when you are exploring unfamiliar wines. We had the chicken pâté’ and cheese board plates, both of which had ample food for 3 or 4. The pâté’ had a nice flavor without the mineral notes(which I find difficult to do in my own kitchen) and the cheese board was a nice mix of soft to hard cheeses. They provide a little Montana honey with the blue cheese(can’t remember the cheese name); which was a great combo to take the edge off the sharpness of the blue cheese. The Hawthorn is a much needed addition to the Helena food and drink scene and another reason to go downtown. The only disappointment was I couldn’t convince my wife to go to the Big Dipper for dessert.
