Granny’s is the greatest. Excellent sandwiches and Andre is the coolest dude ever.

When you live in a popular beach city and don’t want to get in your car all weekend, Granny’s to the rescue. This grocery store is such a throwback to beach living in the 60’s. The owners know your name and are quick to say hi, even if you’re just walking by. The small store is stocked with essentials that you might run out of during your weekend bbq– condiments, deli meat, juice, soda, cat & dog kibble.
I love the convenience of the deli and the sandwiches are amazing. Order your sandwich on the squaw bread and ask for extra pickles. You will thank me later. Some tasty coffee drinks are available as are your usual snacks (chips, crackers, pretzles) and creamwiches. Granny’s also stocks some excellent wine and beer just in case you need to stock up again for an impromptu party. They also have some lovely tables shaded by umbrellas outside the store (dog friendly) to enjoy your sandwich if you just can’t wait to get home.
Wish they opened earlier– we’d be in line to get a cup of joe to start the morning surf session out right!

This place is cute and delicious! They have a really good sandwhich and salad menu, and you can make any of the sandwhcihes hot! Their breakfast items are quite good as well. You can get them regular size or super size for just $ 1 more. My favorite sandwhich is the Vegetarian (and I’m not vegetarian either!) It has sprouts, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, you rchoice of cheese and onion. Their potato salad is also outstanding! You can see from the photos, their sandwhiches are a really decent size. Can’t wait to come back and try out more sandwhiches.

Delicious Sandwiches and a great, Homelike Beach atmosphere. I love their Veggie and Granny’s Sandwich with Squaw Bread. They even gave my 4yr old son a free book. Very Nice, welcoming staff! Will definitely come back often!

Granny’s Grocery is such a little hidden gem. I’ve been here twice now, it’s walking distance from my friend’s house. They have all your essentials available here. Not only that but they also have a deli tucked in the back. Ordered a sandwich the last time I was here and it sure did not disappoint. I got the #11 Longboard, which has sprouts, avocado, tomato, onion & your choice of cheese and meat. Went with ham and
Chipotle cheddar on squaw bread w/​everything on it. The sandwich was packed to the brim and also came with a pickle. I took a bite and was amazed with the combination of flavors. Everything was perfectly paired & very delicious. Next time I think I will try the #1 and maybe try the bread toasted. The staff are also friendly. Cannot wait to come back.

It’s a small convenient store that has all the essentials for a picnic at the beach or that milk you ran out of! I love the sandwiches and people are so nice.

Such yummy sandwiches! The owner is super nice and helpful. I’ve been there a few times and have loved every sandwich I got from here. Besides being a little deli… it’s a little market with chips, drinks and misc items.

I’ve been coming to granny’s for nearly 14 years and I order the exact same sandwich every time (long boarder on squaw with turkey, Swiss, add peperoncinis, no onions)
I crave this bad boy on a weekly basis but try to make it down whenever I can.
Andre the owner is the best! He even went out of his way once when I called to purchase 8 bags of Isabella cookies for some client gift bags. This was before Isabella cookies were sold in whole foods. The delivery cookies were not in yet so he called Isabella’s delivery truck and they made a special stop to come straight away! Amazing!

It’s easy to miss Granny’s since it’s hidden right in the middle of a residential street a few blocks away from the main retail areas closer to the Hermosa Pier. This little convenience store/​deli is great for picking up a nice sandwich made with Boars Head cold cuts, drinks and snacks to bring down to the beach, or maybe just an ice cream treat on a hot summer day. Friendly staff and great mom & pop vibe make Granny’s one of Hermosa’s best kept little secrets.

One of the most charming little markets and deli in the South Bay! And they make a pretty decent sandwich too! I went with a veggie sandwich on wheat, piled high with sprouts and avocado — yum! For those meat lovers, you can choose any Boar’s Head meat and cheese in the cold case for your sandwich. Plenty of drinks, chips and cookies to choose from to marry with your tasty lunch. Bring cash, a smile and high five the staff. Sit on the patio in the sunshine and enjoy.

After eating here several times, I have finally decided to write a review. This is as local as it gets for a «local deli». It is located in the residential section of Hermosa. They are a complete local deli/​market. They carry everything from laundry detergent to freshly made deli sandwiches.
The menu for sandwiches is limited but offer a great variety. I ordered the pastrami sandwich which was served hot on a toasted French roll. I got it with everything on it. It was very tasty and made with quality Board Head brand meats.
The service was quick given how busy the deli was.
They also have a nice selection of drinks from «real coke» (from mexico) to a great selection of micro brews and even a few wines.
This is a great hidden gem in Hermosa!

Would have sworn I walked into a grocery store in Mayberry. Granny’s is located in the midst of Hermosa residential neighborhood and just a couple of blocks from the beach. This is truly a neighborhood shop. They seem to know everyone that walked in; including me and it was my first time! Good vibes and great sandwiches. What more would you want?! Tip: Have the Longboarder sandwich with your choice of meat. I had it with chicken breast on rye and provolone cheese. Oh my, the bread was soft and fresh and with just the right blend of vegies and sauce! The sandwiches also came with an exquisitely tangy dill pickle wedge. After we were done we packed our leftovers (too good to throw out!) and purchased some of Granny’s creamy Gouda cheese before realizing we were going to take a stroll along the beach. No problem — Granny’s to the rescue — «just leave it in our fridge and come back to pick them up after your walk» We happily took advantage of their offer and was able to enjoy the beach.
Next time? Longboarder with Hot Pastrami!!!
