Buffet at angeethi is always good with a lot of options. My only suggestion is to serve naan indian style. hot n fresh right out of the oven with some butter. The way they serve it now.. It becomes rubbery by the time one gets to eat it.

Original Review: They charged an automatic 18% gratuity on my bill for 3 people and when I asked the manager why that is so, he says because you know sir, Indian people don’t tip so we are charging without their permission. And food taste or quality has nothing good that I can speak about for their pricing. I felt more insulted that the restaurant as a policy is doing this against Indians and its sad that it is an Indian restaurant run by Indians. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — EDIT: After I wrote my review, the manager sent me a private message and I am pasting the entire message here: «Hi, i knew that you will write a review. You know what, the people like you want everything free. free food, free service, free restaurant environment, everything free. u think like the waiters and buzzers are your servant so they will pick up your plates, they will refill your empty glass, they will set up the restaurant for you, they will windup and they will everything for you free. After removing your gratuity you gave nothing to the servers. Apart of it you wrote a wrong review about the restaurant. The person like you will never understand the importance of servers and hospitality people. If we will not serve you, you can not go out for food and drink. If you can not afford just 6 – 7 $ for the servers after eating 43 $ food. Then i would like to give you a free advice to eat at home only. Don’t go to restaurants. Thank you so much for coming this time. Give respect and take respect.» — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – My Public Reply to him: Thank you for educating me about tipping and how we ‘Indians’ according to you don’t tip. After I felt humiliated and cheated by you, you still expected me to leave you a tip? Don’t take me wrong, I didn’t come for a free meal over to your place and I very well would have tipped as much myself. But you just insulted an entire country for your forced tip and I cannot stand that. It was ethically wrong, you disrespected me and my family and for that, you deserve nothing. Give respect and take respect applies to you more I guess. Don’t give me lessons about hard work and free money. It is sad that the waiters who work for you didn’t get my tip because of your attitude and your hotel, not because I didn’t want to tip them. Please don’t tell any customer that they came for free food because they don’t tip you. If your restaurant management doesn’t pay the waiters enough to work, don’t blame your customers for not paying them, go talk to your boss. A tip is an appreciation given for great service. In your case, the tip should be a negative number. Thanks my friend, your restaurant just lost business not just from me but also from the whole of my office, friends and family and anyone I care to talk about this incident with. Good luck!

Called them up on a Saturday night asking them if it was alright to come in at 9:45PM for dining in and was answered in the affirmative. Upon reaching there exactly at 9:45, we were told that kitchen was closed and that they cannot serve us. We would have ordered to-go or we would have dined at some other restaurant had we known they would do this. Terrible experience and very poor management skills on their part. One star just for this horrendous treatment.

Food is good in variety, taste and quality! … better than any other restaurant in herndon… Ambience is good too. Only thing that I did not like is the forcefull addition of tip in the bill. Tip is something that is to be decided based on service and hospitality recieved… not something added by the restaurant as money owed.

My husband and I tried this place before our concert started at Herndon Festival. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a gentleman who later turned out to be our waiter. His name was Parth; he was very nice and attentive and seated us right away at the bar. It is a wonderful family-owned restaurant with lots of charm and friendly service! I love the Chicken Biriyani and Goat Vindaloo. The fresh ingredients and tender goat makes it worth getting every time! In fact, I love it so much, I haven’t had the chance to try anything else besides the hot and spicy shrimp… which is AMAZING!!! My husband have tried other dishes, including the Tandori Mixed Grill and Lamb Palak and he give 2 thumbs up! On my next visit, I have to add Shrimp Tandori! If you are in the area, you must stop by Angeethi. It has definitely enhanced my Indian eating experience!

Food was not at all spicy even though we told very spicy. Food was more like a dessert. Chicken, raita and dal everything was sweet. Filled with cream. Biryani was good and spicy. Good atmosphere but not a good place for dinner.

This Restaurant is total rip off, the staff there has lot of attitude and the food is not even good, we entered there around 2:30 pm and the waiter came and told that it’s a last call at 3:00pm for a buffet, that they gonna take food off from the floor. Here is the interesting thing, they will charge you gratuity of 18% for Buffet if you are five and more for buffet which they didn’t serve any food at table, if you are a family of five you have to pay gratuity too and we confirmed with the guy at counter. They should be ashamed of charging gratuity for Buffet for 5 people. First and last visit. Beware guys

Went here awhile and back and forgot to review. A friend recommended this place to me, well I’ve had Indian before and compare to the places I go to this place was a dump. The place isn’t clean and clearly pitch black. The booths were falling apart and tables weren’t clean. I ordered the butter chicken, well I hate taking risks at places like this. Wasn’t the best and everything was simple. For someone who knows Indian food and been to several this place was meh. Our server was decent but there was barely anyone there. I would never go here again and after seeing there having several roach infestations I won’t take a chance. If I can recommend a great spot is Jaipur.

To preface, when I last went here(which was early summer 2015) it was great food for a decent price; I’m not sure what happened since then but its changed a lot and for the worse. Food: Very lackluster; I ordered the vegetarian thali and my wife had the chicken biryani. My food definitely tasted like a brick of jaggery(basically cane sugar) was mixed in, which for reference included palak paneer, navratan korma, and dal makhani(they can be made sweet but not so much so that you are eating a mound of sugar). I couldn’t even eat a small portion because the amount of sugar was just nauseating. My wife’s biryani had no spice at all and basically amounted to rice, saffron, and chicken. The best thing about the meal was leaving the table. Service: Non-existent. I was told that my order was too much work for the kitchen and to try to get something else. Why put something on the menu that you aren’t willing to make? I can understand if you run out of ingredients to make something, but why be in the service industry if you are going to be lazy? My wife and I struggled to get the attention of servers and even the manager despite being only one of 3 groups in the restaurant. Finally, when the meal was completed, I was presented with a receipt that had an automatic gratuity tacked on. I thought that was only for larger groups, not for two people. When I asked about this(which was a 18% tip), the manager insisted this was a typical practice, which was just a straight lie. I had enough of this place and just wanted to leave as sleazy practices like this was just the final nail in the coffin. Final Thoughts: Don’t go here, there are plenty of indian restaurants in the area that deserve your patronage; This place is not one of those anymore. The current management and staff are doing a disservice to all of us that loved this place before by tricking you all into thinking this is exactly the same.

My husband took me to this restaurant for Valentine’s day and I was pleasantly surprised. I had been going to Rangoli’s in my neighborhood for years and he knew I was very picky about Indian food. We just visited the restaurant last weekend and brought my mother. The food was amazing, they catered to our palates, and the drinks were good as well. The manager Par learned how to make a new drink as well… :). This will be my new restaurant of choice for Indian food.

This is the best Indian food I’ve ever had, without question, and the service is top notch. The buffet always has plenty of variety for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, and the best part about it is, it isn’t the same 6 dishes every day. Chaat station is awesome and on weekends they also have a station for masala omelettes and hakka noodles. Worth every penny. But where this place really shines is in service… staff always treats us like family and makes every dinner feel like it’s a special event.

awesome indian food, lovely staff & ambience atmosphere at Angeethi. We went there for celebration of my friend’s birthday party. As per our request they provide as a special arrangement for the seating. I would like to say thanks to a manager, Parth patel for their kind support and help which make our dinner party more enjoyable. The food came out within 10 minutes and we got busy on sabzi pakora, papdi chat, vegetable balti, rice, naan, and spicy Paneer tikka. I’d have to say that the Garlic & kashmiri naan and Paneer tikka were the highlights. I’ll definitely return and try something else as their menu is rather large and seems to have many options. food + services = they really deserved 5 star…

Disappointing! this restaurant has gradually gotten worse over the years. Ambience is the only positive that I can think of. The service was terrible, wait staff rude, inattentive and were only interested in their cell phones. The food in the buffet was not well prepared and just did not taste good. At one point they ran out of naan breads and we had to ask several of the staff multiple times for it to be brought out. The only saving grace on the buffet is the omelet station. This will be our last visit to this restaurant which is such a shame because this used to be one of the better Indian restaurants in Herndon.

Six years later I come back here but my opinion and therefore, rating for Angeethi has slipped unfortunately. The buffet still looks expansive but not great food quality wise. I just wasnt impressed and the weekend buffet was too pricey for that. I was horrified/mildly disgusted by the fact both nearby Indian spots I held dear in my mind have recently been blasted for major roach issues by quite a few Unilocalers. But as luck would have it, no roaches were spotted during my visit, although I was sorry I chose Angeethi over Mayuri in retrospect. The hot tea they have out was really disappointing, more like watered down milk water. Naan wasn’t worth filling up on here, not good. I was served a full little plate of a chickpea dish that was in the hot bar area. Hot it was, why on earth do they serve scalding hot food on metal plates? I burned my hand on it and nearly dropped the plate! The potatoes at the buffet were pretty good but unfortunately, no other real stand outs.

I like the food at Angeethi, and I want them to do well. I think the business/operations need a little tightening up. With three recent orders, I’ve experienced the following issues: 1) Pick up Order placed through their website was never received. I had to wait in the restaurant while they made the food. 2) Spice levels of several dishes were flipped; those meant to be spicier were milder, etc. 3) One dish in an order was completely incorrect. Had to wait additional 40 minutes for correct dish to be delivered. Their prices are high and the delivery wait is routinely an hour or more. I often do order pick up, to avoid this. I hope they will read this review and work to resolve some of these issues, as I’m sure I’m not the only person who has them. Again, I think the food is generally very good, and I’d like them to remain a part of the community.

View the reviews of Angeethi on Unilocal. There is a trend. Indians are giving it poor ratings, Americans are not. So I have had food in Angeethi twice. Both times were lunch buffets. My first experience was in Oct 2015 with my colleagues. The food was good that time, even though the spices were toned down considerably to please American taste buds. So I went again in 14th Jan 2016 this time with my wife. And the experience was horrible. 1) The butter chicken was neither sweet nor spicy. It lacked the texture. They clearly made a generic curry and put chicken to make it butter chicken and put paneer to make it Shahi Paneer 2) Tandori chicken was authentic — even though it was cold sitting on a hot plate. But after 1pm when I picked tandori chicken freshly brought from kitchen, to my surprise it wasn’t tandoor at all, it was now fried chicken. Tandoori chicken is supposed to be cooked in a clay oven(Tandoor), instead they fried the 2nd lot. 3) Gulab Jamun: This dessert is supposed to serve hot(warm) in a sugar syrup. It was cold and the felt like it came from a can. 4) Kheer: after tasting one spoon, we left it. Enough said. 5) The pepper chicken was good though, or at least it had some texture given the spices and corn in it. I talked with some of the American folks eating there, and they seemed pretty happy about it. I guess it’s just another Indian restaurant playing to please American taste buds and trying to sell their target market — Americans — the Indian cuisine experience. I would rather be happy to at least some Indian restaurant grow a spine, and have courage to cook Indian food the way it is supposed to be — Flavorful, tender, tasteful and heart warming.

I’ve eaten in the restaurant during the buffet times and ordered take out… by far this is my favorite Indian Cuisine in the area. I’m pretty obsessed with their butter chicken, naan and roti and find myself craving it quite often. Their buffet food is delicious, fresh and they offer a pretty wide variety, paired along with wonderful service… you can’t go wrong!

Did a take out. Ordered 2 dishes — kheema(minced) lamb and Dal(lentils) makhani… al I can say the food was not up to par. I have eaten in here and always enjoyed the food. The two dishes each had issues. The lamb was way too salty, and I always eat more salt. So go figure. And the lamb also had th full coriander, a little too much. If you have had the solid coriander and bit i to it you will understand not a fun taste esp if it is overloaded. The he daal makhani was so so too much cream and not enough daal. Just my $.02. On another note tried their buffet and was charged %20 tips. WOW. for a buffet and without any warning/notice. I understand the buffet crowd does not tip well but 20%… Hmmm. The food in the buffet was good.

Horrible place. I would give a 0 star if there was an option. They served us only cold food. They took ages to clear our plates for the lunch buffet. They made chat for us. Even that was cold. How can someone cook cold food? When we asked the waiter about the food being cold, he only said ‘i’ll find out’.it was very expensive for a poor quality serivce. I will recommend this place ONLYIFYOUARESTARVINGTODEATHANDNOOTHERPLACEINTHEWORLDISOPEN We went to dinner at this place today and I would say everything is Pathetic right from taking an order to misplacing the dishes to other table(apparently there were only 2 tables occupied at that time and the guy gave our order to them and realized after 5 mins that he misplaced it) I know that the place is too expensive for the below average food that they serve but they charged 4 $ for a 1OZ of Raita and it was so stupid on their part not to serve the rice on the side with the curry because we order Roti with the curry. I would strongly recommend NOT to ever visit this place, this is absolute waste of time and money

This was a fantastic Sunday buffet experience! They really have a wide selection of foods. They even have a bar area where they have some unique preset dishes, that you order on request(included in buffet at no extra charge). The one amazing dish I would recommend is the slow roasted eggplant(Baingan Bharta) Wow! Slightly tangy, perfect inside some naan. Service and atmosphere is wonderful. Really beautiful décor and furniture. Even the silverware was very high quality. Definitely will be coming back when we’re in the area.

Went here with family because we had a groupon that was $ 40 for $ 80 worth of food. We enjoyed the chat papradi appetizer — it was light and refreshing. The assorted appetizer was only okay — all fried stuff, just one of each item. For our main entrée, we had garlic naan, lamb biryani, chicken biryani, lamb curry, aloo gobi masala and chicken 65. Garlic naan — super delish and garlicky! Chicken and lamb biryani — really good and flavorful! Lamb curry — nice and smooth, good for dipping with the naan or the white rice that they provide Aloo gobi — this might have been my favorite one. It was well seasoned, the cauliflower was cooked well and the potatoes were good too Chicken 65 — this was the worst thing ever, it tasted like a chinese take out’s sweet and sour chicken dish. We didn’t like it at all, it wasn’t spicy or anything even though it was supposed to have chilis in it. Overall, the place was good and we would eat it again. But only if we have a coupon again because it can get kinda pricey. Definitely get the garlic naan and the aloo gobi!

Went here with a group of friends for lunch. It was a buffet and the lunch timings are upto 2.30PM. We had reached there around 1.40PM which is a good 50 min before they actually shut down the kitchen. The hostess was polite and we were seated. On the menu there was a lot of variety but to our shock, most of the food containers were empty. The plain rice, biryani, veg and alu pakoras were not refilled for a long time. Finally we had to ask them to do it. The staff was active but none kept an eye on the food refilling but either was busy wrapping up stuff and arranging tables. The chat section displayed chola bhatura(which was filled with chola), dahi papdi(empty) and had no one to serve. After asking them to get the bhatura, they took their own sweet time and got it after we were done eating. And to worsen our dissatisfaction the dessert — Gajar Halwa was cold. A true disappointment! The food was not great either especially for the price they charge! To top it off, when the hosts asked us if we enjoyed, we gave our honest comments, they didn’t even bother to apologise. Instead made a weird face. Never going back to this place and will never recommend it to anyone.

They were courteous to allow us to be seated till they were ready. They did come by for a drink order… But it’s now 11:55 and we have finished and I have yet to see any nan orders coming out. Seriously??? Now it happens that today I didn’t want but that’s not the point. My husband would have liked. I shouldn’t have to hunt this down. Notice today that all the employees are different. So thinking there was either a management change or ownership change… Good food is key but you also have to focus on service!

Went here for Sunday buffet and then solo dined the next day for lunch! I couldn’t get enough the first time! I’ve been to Rangoli, Bollywood Bistro, Rasika and Minerva and so far THIS buffet is my favorite for the selection and quality. The weekend buffet: $ 15, had a couple more things like goat, the potato/pea naan(which was delicious), mango lassi and dessert was made of sweet carrots. The weekday buffet: $ 11, had most things(3 chicken curries, vegetarian curries, tandoori), they had cabbage masala instead of cauliflower and dessert was the fried milk balls or rice pudding. I loved the flavor of the tandoori chicken here, perfectly spiced and a little tangy. Also liked that they have an area where they make things fresh. I got a dish of fried bread + chickpeas as well as this biscuit in yogurt and sauce. Service was excellent – even if it’s not that great, who cares? It’s a buffet. The waiter came by and chatted with me a bit too; nice people and great food!

The food is really good. But the guy who takes the order does not know what he is doing & on the top of that he is rude. We asked if they have Gobi Manchurian & he replied to my surprise that they do not keep South Indian dishes as we do not want to mix North Indian cuisine with that from the south !!! I could not stop myself & told him that it is not a South Indian dish but Indo-Chinese which then he acknowledged. Also, the service was very late from starter to the entrée. When asked that we have been waiting for more than 30 minutes, the reply was again that the wait time on our menu is 35 minutes. What kind of customer service will do that? Instead of pleasing your customer by re-assurance, he is justifying for the late service. The food was good. If not for the customer service, I would rate it better.

First time i came here everything was amazing, service and food were outstanding BUT this time around, no idea what happened! Serviced was horrible! We got there got seated, sat down for about 5 minutes no one came to pour us water, we had to wave a server down. They were supposed to bring the basket of complimentary chips n condiment tray, they didnt do that either. We orderd about 4 entrees, took so long to come out and when it did the lamb/chicken curry were both cold. Had to send it back for them to reheat SMH. The food ended up being good but serviced was horrible eventhough it wasnt that busy in there. They had plenty of waiters working so i dont know why my table received such bad service! We never saw our waiter again after he took our order, that shows you how neglected we were there SMH.
