Very bad service. Place is good with good atmosphere and good equipment and looks like a high end salon but the owner and barber don’t speak English. Apart from language issues, the barber was very rude. I had product in my hair and asked for trim keeping my current style. After shampoo he asks me which side I part my hair from. I am like neither coz you saw my hair when I sat here earlier… its pulled forward and spiked up. He wasn’t understanding it. Then when I raised issue with owner that barber not understanding he asked me to leave since I am not getting along w barber!

I was in town for a few days due to work and needed to get in a haircut before the big meetings. First off, the online reservation website was easy to navigate and I found plenty of convenient times to reserve on a Sunday.
When I got to the Barber Lounge the next day, I was immediately greeted and my appointment was quickly confirmed, resulting in the barber seating me within a minute. He was an older Asian American man with glasses. After a quick question or two about my haircut preference, he got right to work with a very methodical and precise manner of cutting, trimming, checking, and brushing. The straight blade shave and hot towel treatment was very nice! When it was all said and done, I had been in the chair for nearly 30 minutes, but it felt like 10 – 15 minutes.
Quick disclaimer: my barber was not very chatty. In fact, he hardly said a word during the entire haircut except to check my thoughts on how it looked near the end. But, that was okay with me since it enabled me to focus on the TV screen which had an international soccer game on (TVs are at every barber’s station). I was very pleased with the haircut and will definitely return when I’m in the area again!

I have used Barber Lounge twice for both haircuts and beard shape-​up and both times I can honestly say they provided the best haircuts I’ve ever had. This is far and away superior to anything other discount styling places might offer.
The highlight for me is the real shave of my neck after the haircut is finished. Many places inly use clippers to trim the neck, but here you get warm shave cream and a straight razor to help you look your best. After the beard trim, they apply beard oils to leave your face smelling and feeling wonderful.
The prices are very competitive and only a few dollars more than what you would expect to pay at one of those discount places that just give a quick buzz with clippers.
The staff is very friendly and make you feel welcomed. The shop is kept orderly and clean, and you’ll leave there looking and feeling like a million bucks: men’s grooming the way it was meant to be.

Nancy is the best but everyone cuts well here as well. I even brought my son in for his first haircut and they turned cartoons on the tv for him. Usually they gave sports on which is great also!
The prices are very decent and the get the beck area with a fresh blade for a clean cut.

Even though this place was rated very high, I was a bit nervous when reading a handful of negative reviews. But this is the best haircut I’ve had in years. He asked at every single turn if the length was OK, before he cut. Very patient, no rush, great service, great price. I wish there were a place like this where I lived.

Made an online reservation for 10AM when they opened. When I got there, the owner didn’t realized I made a reservation and told me that I would need to wait 20 minutes for another barber to get in because he was the only one.
When you have a sign on your front desk that reads «Reservations preferred» and you don’t even check your online reservations, that is just bad business.
Plus, having other barber shops pamphlets to compare with their price. Keep it classy…

This is the best place to get haircut in this town. I was impressed with the perfection in cutting my hair and style that I always wanted. Antonio is the best.

You just cut my hair like 20mins ago. to be honest i was okay with the horrible hair cut. but when you walked to me the register and showed me that my $ 24 hair cut is now $ 42 shit Mark. you charged me an extra $ 18 for a beard trim and there was no trimming done it still looks the same, you didnt even give me FADE or a shape-​up like i asked. oh you should change the name to HAIR Cuttery becuase you are far farrrrrr away from ever being a barber shop. thanks again for the worst expensive hair cut ever. just another Asian sweat shop!

Came here based on reviews. Had Marc the master stylist cutting my hair. Unfortunately he, like everyone else who works there, doesn’t not speak English. No problem I thought, I showed him a picture of a previous haircut I had. despite seeing pictures of the front and sides and saying «ok ok», the haircut came out nothing like it. I also tried telling him what I wanted done throughout the cut and he said «ok». It was just a simple fade on the sides and leave the top longer but instead he put the Clippers on the shortest guard and shaved the sides all the way up, still leaving the top long. It was also expensive for such a terrible job, I’m never going back.

Outstanding. Previous negative reviews were not my experience. I appreciate the fact that the gentleman put a fresh blade in the straight razor, lathered up my sideburns and eyeballed them twice in the mirror to ensure they were lined up. THAT is attention to detail. Shaved the back where it meets the neck, too. Well worth it! My new favorite place.

I’ve been here about 3 – 4 times now and have had a cut with the Director Mark each time. As much as I want to love this place, they couldn’t cut a simple clean hard part. Granted my Asian hair can be difficult. This last time was probably the worst cut… the others were ok considering the price. This place has great décor and ambience, but my ends were uneven every time, some stray hairs… this time my hair was thinned out and the ends on the part are all jacked up… I’ll be looking for a new barber next time.

I can’t speak on behalf of their haircuts, but if you’re looking to get a beard trim from this place, I would steer clear. For lack of more appropriate words, it was a hack job. The trim was very uneven/​choppy. I would post a picture, but my beard probably couldn’t handle the embarrassment.
I went to a woman on the right side of the shop. She was super pleasant and she may be able to give a decent haircut, but her beard trimming skills were subpar — I should have trimmed it up myself.
Anyways, lesson learned. After much trial and error with a number of barber shops in the area, my conclusion is that they are all lackluster when it comes to fixing up a dude’s beard.

Terrible place. Guy cutting my hair couldn’t speak English and when I told him to stop cutting, he said «it’s ok, it’s ok» and kept on cutting it. Now I just lost an inch of hair that I spent months growing. Not worth it.
EDIT: Just when I thought this place couldn’t get worse, the owner comes out and essentially calls me a liar. Not sure what my incentive would be to make something up about my experience here but either way, I will definitely be avoiding this joint in the future.

I used to go to Bubble’s in Reston, but after the 4^th different person in 12 months and a bad haircut I had to find a new place.
These guys are top notch, nice little TV at each station and minimal talking, which I appreciate. Above all just a really good haircut, even for a guy who normal thinks that «Barber Shop» stylists aren’t very good — this was very, very good. Highly recommend.

I just recently moved to the area from another part of NoVA, and had been bouncing around from «barber shop» to «barber shop» every now and then with mixed results, and mostly just keeping up with my own hair using a home clipper set. I’ve wanted to try a modern take on the classic Mad Men style hard-​part and combover. My last cutter butchered this during the summer, and having shaved my entire head afterward I was hesitant to try the Barber Lounge, even with all the great reviews on Unilocal.I’m really glad that I did!
I booked with Master Barber, Mark, and had an excellent experience with fantastic results. The shop is adorned in reclaimed wood furniture and each station had its own mini-​flatscreen TV. The barbers are well-​equipped with all of the professional tools they need, including many extras like ultraviolet sterilization machines for the clippers, towel and shave cream warmers, straight razor and strop kits, and a variety of high-​end hair and skin product. Despite the luxurious environment, the prices were very reasonable. Men’s cuts are between $ 18 and $ 23 before tip, and women are $ 23+ depending on the style.
I would definitely recommend this shop for anyone looking for a decent barber and a relaxing experience at a reasonable price.

I was searching for a new barber as my old one left unannounced and the other barbers there were below satisfactory, sometimes leaving cut hair on my face and head. I found Barber Lounge using Unilocal!and all the reviews are spot on. This place is great!
Sarah cut my hair and I was most impressed by not only the time she took to brush cut hair off my head, face and neck while she was cutting my hair, but also took the time to ensure the back of my high fade was done properly. time and time again, when trying new barbers, they always leave the top back of my head uneven.
After my cut, I spoke more w the owners and they were really proud of the fact they don’t reuse combs or razors and everything is sanitized. I never really thought about the importance of that before today, but can totally get behind sanitation!
They are a little more for a haircut than I normally pay, but I will happily pay more for the full service they provide. I have found my new barber.

Just moved to the Reston area and experienced the anxiety of choosing a new barber. This is the first time visiting and I will certainly continue. The barber, Jason, immediately understood my desired hairstyle and was absolutely meticulous in ensuring my haircut and overall experience was excellent.
Would recommend to friends and other residents to the Reston Herndon area.

Barber Lounge is an upscale barber shop mainly targeted at men. I usually go to the Barber Shop in Herndon, and have found them to be mostly reliable.
This place, however, is just a notch above the Barber Shop and the other places focused on men. They have a «master barber» on site. I’ve honestly not heard that term before, but it must mean something good. The other 3 barbers are apparently not masters yet, but the guy I got my basic cut from did a good job and paid attention to detail. He even used a straight razor on my neck. Very classy. I should also mention he gave me a halfway decent neck massage afterwards. I haven’t gotten that from anyone state-​side ever.
Pricing-​wise, they are competitive. $ 18 for a basic cut, $ 23 for anything fancy. They use a Square-​type service for payment, so you don’t have to have cash, even for your tip.
Their other services include hot towel service and shave.
They have a modern décor that anyone can appreciate.
Nice place. I’m glad they’re around. Will definitely return.
