I’ll start by saying that the food here is very good. I had some bratwurst that was excellent, plus the potatoes and sauerkraut were good too. Everyone else at the table also enjoyed the food. The prices are a little high, but that’s Ok for this type of food. The service here is why I’m only rating this 3 stars. The two waitresses who served us were not very friendly, and never came back to check on us. Even worse, they rushed us to order and rushed us to get the check. That’s not how they do it in Europe.

I was really looking forward to a great German meal and a Gasthaus experience. The food was good but not great and the ambience was anything but a Gasthaus. The good: Spaetzle. And the sauce on my Jaegerschnitzle. You can’t get German pork in the US, so they took 3 pieces of US pork and sliced it thin. Actually a good plan. It was fork tender and the gravy/sauce on it was very good. Mom would have put a little wine in the sauce, but no one cooked as good as her! So I’ll give the food 4 stars. The not-so-good: I expected the ‘feel’ of an Austrian/German gasthaus, and it was 100% an American resturant. Sit down, order your food, eat it and leave. The waitress, who I think is also a part owner, was pretty short with me when I asked if they were from Germany or Austria. I was sort of hoping to try out my rusty German, but there was absolutely no opportunity to do that. Another waitress showed up and seemed to have an accent, but by that point I was hesitant to try to say anything not in english. No bar that I could see — and as far as I could tell they had only 2 beers on tap. They did have several bottles, but I never did get to see a beer list. Many Unilocalers are saying this is the best German food in the area. If that’s true, I’m so sorry for you. Ambiance: 2 stars. Also I spent over $ 30 for a Jaegerschnitzle and a couple of beers. Ouch.

Came for lunch. The food came out in about 5 minutes which means there is no way they freshly prepared the jaggersnitzel. The sauce was gelatin in texture and not great. The spatzel was soggy and must have been made in advance then heated up.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Every time I go, it’s a huge plate of delicious food that’s hard to find elsewhere. The variety is great and the daily specials do not disappoint. Most recently, I had lunch with a friend, she got the chicken pot pie and I got the Shepards pie, both of which were too much for lunch but it was so good, we finished them anyway and promptly went into a food coma. The prices are very reasonable. The only negative comment I can say is how long it takes to get your food, but since everything is made fresh, I can hardly blame them for that, and just plan a longer lunch or dinner than normal.

The food is ok not great but passable. Found it odd they did not bring out the usual sides. Great selection of beers. As a whole the dining experience is completely forgotten upon exiting.

I came in and ordered the Wiener-schnitzel with veal. The meat was pounded out so thin that I couldn’t believe it. The breading was about as thick as the meat. And somehow the breading stuck like glue to both the top and bottom of the veal. So I have decided that the next time I come in here I’ll order the Wienerschnitzel BUT I’ll tell them if it is paper thin, like the last time, it will be going back and they can recook it. I can’t make much of a comment on the taste of the food as it was almost too thin to taste.

Euro Bistro is the best European restaurant in Herndon. I have tried the chicken schnitzel, stuffed cabbage, pasta with meatballs. All these dishes were so delicious. If you want to try German or Austrian food, go to Euro Bistro.

Great German food! The wosrt part of this place is picking just one dish. You can’t go wrong with any of the schnitzels. My husbands favorite is Raumschnitzel with tender pounded pork in a delicious white mushroom sauce. A favorite of mine is the sauerbraten in a gingersnap sauce. And my daughter loves the weinerschnitzel. The spaetzle side dish soaks up the various sauces to prolong the pleasure. The portions are generous and the service is great!

I came here on Tuesday October 6, for their Oktoberfest special dinner. It was a five course fix priced menu for $ 35. I had a reservation for four people. When I came in it was a little crazy– the hostess/owner/waitress wasn’t sure where to sit my party. After figuring that out we were seated and served water pretty quickly. It was very busy and loud with the oompah band. The food took a little while but we enjoyed Hofbrau beer on tap while we waited. Each course was really delicious and just the right amount of food. Not too salty, not too much, just right! I would definitely go back to try other things off their menu. The only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is because of the chaos when we came in and not having a table ready for us. Also the staff was just ok, not overly friendly or attentive. I did really enjoy the Oktoberfest theme.

I had the Wienerschnitzel(with chicken) on a rainy Wednesday for lunch. It came with potato salad and maybe three pieces of lettuce to give the appearance this was healthy which it’s not. The breading was very light and the gravy was just ehhh. This was my first time trying German food – not impressed or disappointed. It was about halfway full on this day so obviously some fanfare considering it was rainy. The potato salad had a balsamic vinagreitte taste to it, which was pleasantly surprising. Come check it out – but please for God sakes get the pork not the chicken like I did. The Germans love their pigs.

Truly wanted to enjoy this spot but it failed for me on all accounts. My wife and I tried Euro Bistro for the first time after I received a gift certificate for my birthday. We ordered the Jaegerschnitzel and Swedish Meatballs with a side of sauerkraut for us and a side of spaetzle for our 2 year old. Everything was flavorless with watery sauces and obviously canned ingredients(I’m looking at you mushrooms and sauerkraut). The side dishes were extremely small given the price and I’ve never encountered a side of spaetzle that isn’t folded with cheese and herbs and placed under the broiler– at Euro Bistro you get a small bowl of lukewarm mush. At best the food approximates cafeteria food, at worst well… you get the idea. Obviously the work of a lazy chef who just doesn’t care any more. For a meal that included 2 entrees, 2 sides and 2 beers our total bill(pre-tip) came to just under $ 70. Even with the gift certificate I felt robbed. Fool me once…

Euro Bistro on a weeknight is quiet and relaxed, which is rare in Northern Virginia. Our party of four ordered schnitzel paprika, meatloaf, and sauerbraten. The meals were so delicious! Wonderful flavors, tender meats. The service was friendly and responsive. If you’re looking for high quality German Austrian food, try Euro Bistro!

We had the schnitzel and jagerschnitzel and it was fantastic! We also had spatzle and kartofflesald(potato salad) and it was great also. There are a bunch of restaurants to choose from on Herndon but this one stands out. I drive from Fairfax to get authentic german dishes and beer.

It’s hard to find German food in the area, you almost have to go to DC to find the next closest. First and foremost the sauerkraut is by far the best fresh sauerkraut I’ve ever had. The only thing deterring me from giving it the full 5 stars is the price… This place is expensive no matter the time. I am aware expensive is relative but for the area you get one German dish and a side and you’re looking over $ 20 dollars with tax and tip. other than that. It’s a great place for great eats. Good luck finding another German restaurant within a 10 mile radius of this place.

Maybe it’s because we came primarily for German food that we were so disappointed(especially given the cost of entrees? Sauerbraten was very tough and not real flavorful, the smoked pork & sausage platter was OK but the pork was very tough. Sauerkraut and red cabbage lacked much in the way of flavor. Spetzele and roasted potatoes were good. I’ve had much better at other German restaurants(and in Germany). Prices seemed very high, more than $ 20 for most entrees.

The décor is lacking, the server wore flipflops, shorts and pink & blueT-shirt. Really un professional. Layed the menus on the next table instead of putting them away. The food however was very good.

Euro Bistro has by far the best Austrian/German food in Northern Virginia. My mom is Austrian and this is her favorite place to get authentic Austrian/German food. The chef, Riamond, does not dissapoint! We had Euro Bistro cater my wedding and all the guests raved about how great the food was. Even the picky eaters loved it all. Euro Bistro is the place to come enjoy a long dinner with friends and family. They even often have live authentic music.

I truly love Euro Bistro. It isn’t the spot with the best seating or the nicest décor but the food is outstanding. Euro Bistro could certainly stand for a remodel. It needs to be modernized and reworked. That said, it is hard to argue with outstanding food. The food is the key here. Yeah, Thai dishes and Italian dishes don’t really make sense in a ‘German’ restaurant but I never order them anyway. Get the spetzel. Seriously. If you buy anything, buy spetzel. Also make sure you get the sauerkraut and the potato salad. Get a beer too. That always makes everything better. Sure, you’ll be a bit gassy later but it is well worth it. Get your butt over to Euro Bistro and enjoy some out standing German food. Seriously. Go.

Well prepared fresh food. Most everything matches up well with what I’ve had in Germany. The smoked pork chops are outstanding, as is the sauerkraut. Don’t fill up on the breads since the entrée portions are substantial. One unique twist: there are some surprising menu items like Thai iced tea.
