Ristorante è fantastico! Our trusty GPS discovered Italia’s as we passed through Virginia on a roadtrip. We were skeptical at first, since the restaurant is located in a unit in a doctor’s office complex. The inside was small and homey, like eating in your mother’s kitchen. In fact, we thought we might have walked into someone’s residence. We were greeted by an older gentleman like he had been expecting us all day. We were seated and looked over the detailed menu. One item caught both of our attention: eggplant parmesan sandwich. We’re both eggplant lovers, especially parmesan style… but on a sandwich? Genius! We ordered two. The wait was a little long, but totally worth what we were about to experience… First bite: our palates trembled with delight! The bread was firm but soft, and was able to contain the sandwich ingredients without getting sloppy. The cheese was warm and bubbly, surrounded by a flavorful, homemade marinara sauce. Then the eggplant: fresh, large slices with crisp breading. This sandwich was a godsend. As I neared the final bites of the sandwich, I began nibbling. I didn’t want this experience to end! Since this visit, I have searched far and wide for another place with a comparable eggplant parmesan sandwich. Nothing has come close. I’m destined to make a journey back to Herndon just for this food.

Ugh! I wish there was a way to rate a place with zero stars!!! I ordered from here with a house full of hungry little ones and basically my entire family was there craving pizza. Now, I’m all for giving everyone a chance, but whenever a pizza place tells me that delivery will take 45 minutes plus, I am a little hesistant. I’m mean really, its dough(that you make in bulk in the morning), sauce, cheese and toppings. If you are a pizza place, then why does it take you that long?! But i digress. Needless to say, TWO whole hours went by and no pizza! I called three times and the owner kept saying it was on its way. Second call, the driver had left ten minutes ago. Third call, the driver was in my parent’s neighborhood and just looking for their house number. Now, I happened to be looking out their window when I called and they are one of the first houses in the neighborhood so I knew he was lying. I told him if his driver wasn’t there in two minutes we didn’t want the $ 70 worth of pizza we had just ordered. My other half left for work on an empty tummy so needless to say, I was pissed. When the delivery driver arrived 45 minutes later, all he said was«I don’t care it’s not my problem!» I can’t even begin to describe how ticked off I was. They’ll never get another chance. Bums!

Calamari I ordered with the office’s delivery was fine, but I wouldn’t recommend their chef salad. It wasn’t terrible but didn’t live up to the standards set by other local Italian delis(and to be honest this neighborhood is surprisingly packed in that niche). Most notable complaint about the salad was the poorly packed dressing that leaked all over the bag, and the bland pre-pitted kalamata olives. Nicely roasted red bell pepper slices compensated somewhat, but realistically that’s pretty elementary. Steak stromboli was actually pretty good though they didn’t provide plasticware and it was a bit juicier inside than expected. Filling enough for lunch, but next time I’d probably give my coworker’s choice of lasagna special a shot. This place is tucked away into a small business complex, and looks remarkably like my orthodontist’s office until you walk in the door.

Thanks Neal E. for discribing the place so nicely! Now I won’t have to do it. This is mu hubby’s 2nd fav steak n cheese place. Him and his dad come here all the time when they are pretending to be at work.(Caught ya!) He’s brought me here several times and the sub IS delicious. Not too greasy or dry and just the right amount of meat and size for the price. I only had the pizza one time and I must have enjoyed it because I don’t remember otherwise. Of course it’s not no Manhattan Pizzeria or anything. I can’t rate anything else on the menu because this is all I’ve had but when I do I’ll be sure to let you know. Thumbs up to this hole in the wall.

Italia’s is easy to miss — it’s in one of those brick office buildings — right at the corner of Eldon Street and Sterling Road. It’s a little place — there are five tables to eat in — and a small analog-style TV in the corner of the room. You can also get orders to go, or opt for delivery. I’ve gotten food here twice — dined in once — had the Classico 12″ Deli Sub — on delicious sub bread with genoa salami, ham, mortadella & provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, roasted sweet peppers, banana peppers, and an oil and vinegar dressing. The sub was huge! And delicious! The bread was fantastic and lots of ingredients stuffed in that bad boy! The second time — this evening — I got a pizza to go — the«Italia’s Combo»: which is a NY style pizza with sausage, ham, salami, pepperoni, meatballs, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, olives, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. Excellent pizza! I am not an expert on quality NY style pizza — but this was very good — nice thin crust, fresh, tasty ingredients — that all melded themselves into a delicious, flavorful yummy taste! They also carry lots of other stuff on the menu — Stromboli’s, Calzones, hot and cold subs and sandwiches, Gyros, burgers, Italian pasta dinners, and a lot more! Their web site appears to be under construction — so visiting the URL listed on their to go menu takes you to a site that is under construction.
