Papa Pizza

Enjoyed the pizza. Not to die for, but very good for pizza delivered to your door.
Took more than an hour to arrive, even though we ordered before the dinner rush on a Tuesday.

Super disappointed in this place. After reading reviews, I thought it would be really great but it was just okay. I got delivery to share with my coworkers.
We ordered pizza & wings. We got a large pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and banana peppers. The pizza was pretty good. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. The wings were so bland. I asked for extra hot wings and it tasted like they hadn’t put any hot sauce at all.
I’ll probably just stick to dominos for delivery during lunch now. They have good specials if you’re looking to save money and not care too much about the taste.

We received a menu in the mail and decided to order delivery from here. My husband got the chicken parm sandwich with fries and I got the veggie grinder with fries. Both sandwiches were disappointing, especially my veggie grinder. Who puts lettuce on a hot sandwich? The onions, peppers and mushrooms were scarce and the roll wasn’t filled like the veggie grinders we get in Philly. I was grossed out by the wilted lettuce and raw tomato and didn’t finish it. If anything the lettuce should never be on a hot sandwich. Typical philly and ny grinders have sautéed spinach, roasted sweet peppers, caramelized onions, mushrooms, sautéed green peppers, eggplant, hots, mayo and provalone. This was a gross version of that with wilted warm lettuce, two mushrooms, a tomato, 3 peppers and and handfull of raw onions with a gob of mayo and two slices of provalone… disappointing! I had two bites and had to out it down.
My husband’s chicken parm was edible but nothing special. Our orders came with fries but my box had what looked like a pinch of fries while he had an overflowing mound of them in his box. My husband had an upset stomach after eating the chicken parm. It may have been from something else he ate earlier in the day but it came on pretty quickly after eating the sandwich.
We haven’t tried the «ny style» pizza here and since we had such a bad experience with the delivery food, I doubt we will ever try it. But I am sure it is safe to assume, if they are putting lettuce on a veggie grinder (so unbelievably gross), I find it hard to believe their pizza is anything close to ny style. One thing about natives here in VA is that they think they know what east coast (Philly, NYC) city food tastes like, but they don’t. You could give them a slice of pizza from papa John’sand tell them it is NY style and they’d believe it. Point is, don’t go to this place if you’re looking for authentic NY pizza and Philly grinders.
Consensus is we won’t be ordering from here again. We tossed the menu after the first order. This place is definitely not making philly or ny style food. I saw the Philly cheesesteak on the menu and I can only imagine what that would end up looking like coming from this place.

Delicious. Every bite. I have not had a bad pizza and I keep trying their specialty pizza’s they have on their menu.

I ordered delivery via Unilocal/delivery.com from my hotel room in Herndon. The garlic bread with cheese was rock hard and coagulated, the salad was OK (my request for extra tomatoes resulted in one tomato slice), the pizza was OK, and the chocolate cake tasted like it was frozen and then thawed. I had high hopes, was definitely disappointed with this experience. The order took just over an hour from order to arrive (not bad), and the delivery driver was very nice.

Very busy but food came out fast. Had to sit at one long table next to strangers which took some getting used to. Staff was nice and helpful.

I’d love to have a good, local pizza place in Herndon but, sadly, Papa’s Pizza just isn’t it. Although they have friendly staff and some pretty good specials, the pies are served on a thin, under-​salted, flavorless crust with neither the chewiness that marks a superior New York-​style pizza crust nor the char that makes good brick oven pizza. Instead, the pies here are just bland. Not awful. They do use a superior pepperoni product so I’d give them a few points for that. But not worth a trip; the chains produce better pies than Papa.

Not too bad, not the absolute best NY style I’ve ever had but for delivery it was better than most options around us.

Nice quiet place, good pizza, friendly staff. We aren’t local to the area, so we we’re taking a risk. Well worth it. Great price, good pizza.

Ordered from here again and it was great. Flavorful, good topping quality, and passes the «fold test», as others have noted. If you’re in Herndon and looking for quality pizza, definitely give them a try!

Excellent pizza. Thin crust New York style brick oven pizza. I’m really surprised this place isn’t busier, so want to spread the word that it’s worth a try.

I have to give them credit here. Pizza is very good, prices are fair, salads are fresh and sizable, and they are friendly people that work behind the counter. Thank you!

Alright, so we dropped in again to give them another chance. I do have to say they are really nice people. We just ordered the extra large meat lovers pizza this time. It really was one of the best I have had. It was New York style and it also passed the fold test. What more can I say.
They are one of the very few places near here that make brick oven pizzas and it is good to know we have a good one nearby. Next time, we plan to try some other items on their menu. I have high hopes and will hopefully give another review.
Also, it seems they closed last week because it was a very slow day for them. They are otherwise always open.

Papa Pizza is a little restaurant with very nice staff. In fact, I would come back just because they are so nice! I’ve had the supreme, which comes with delicious peppers, onions, and mushrooms. My favorite parts were the sausage slices and pepperoni. The crust has some char on it too, which I love. The top of the pizza, though, was a bit on the soggier side. Although I’ve definitely had better pizza, I think this is a good, local option in the area!

Really good subs, all my coworkers wanted a bite. Food quality is great here. Pizza is very decent. Would come back!

Toppings, cheese were just right. Best pizza I had in a long time. I got it for delivery but it still tastes pretty fresh when I got it.
Only downside would be that the crust wasn’t that crispy. It was a softer kind of crust which I don’t like that much.

The pizza is really really good! Went here last night and got a large Hawaiian pizza. One of the best Hawaiians I’ve had in a while. The cheese was really good, the crust was good and the toppings tasted really fresh. My kid commented how sweet the pineapple was. The place is decorated pretty cool. TV in the corner. Fountain drinks and bottled drinks. Service was good, everyone was pretty friendly. Asked how the pizza was when we finished. I’ll def be coming back. Saw some other things on the menu I want to try.

I’ve tried lots of pizza places, but to me, this is the best pizza between Tyson’s Corner and Leesburg.
It’s close to my work in Herndon, so I come in for the lunch specials often during the week. The pizza is great and I like the sandwiches too, especially the Mediterranean ones.
It’s not close to my home in Sterling, but I find myself making the trip on weekends to order carry out pizza. The portions for the salads are generous too. I like the Greek salad.
Owners and staff are very friendly and hard working. Overall, a very good brick oven pizza place!

Have only tried the pizza. Was excited for the brick oven style — but alas it was just OK. It was undercooked and a bit soggy and didn’t have that signature crunch or char from a brick oven pizza. As a consequence the flavors just fell flat. I typically rate pizza by how excited I am to eat the second slice. Hence the three stars is about right.
This was a carry-​out order. Perhaps they undercook those thinking I was in a rush? And normally they are more crispy? I’ll try again and request ‘well done’ and rate again in the future. The staff were very friendly.

Best New York style pizza in town by a whole mile. I have tried every pizza joint in VA/​DC/​MD area and nothing compares to papa’s. Thanks for the excellent service and great taste!!!
