First major complaint!!! Food takes forever! Literally forever!!! It’s a small fast el Salvadorian style taco shop but those are sometimes the best!!! Yah no not this time!!! The elote was it dead piece of corn on the cob with ketchup and mustard with a very cheap version of Cotija cheese. Honestly it almost made me sick… Papusas would have been good had not been smashed all over the grill and the cheese burnt… My husband had three Carne Asada tacos that were edible… The place was small the TV was loud… just not what we expected after some friends had told us it was pretty good… But the service has to be the worst part .the length of time waiting for that type of food is just unexpectedly disappointing. Prices are low. . maybe that’s why. I just can’t seem to find any good Spanish food anywhere in Virginia…

Very okay pupuseria. Although the service was very nice, the food was only okay. I got a platter that included eggs, a pupusa, a tamale, and avocado. All were okay but not exceptional. I have had much better in Fairfax and Manassas. The pupusa in particular had a cheese that I found unappealing. Parking in front of the location is limited and shared with several other businesses. Immediately in front are 220 minutes only spots for picking up food to go which many patrons seemed to do.

Food lacks flavor, I would most likely head somewhere else since there are a lot more central american restaurants in a close proximity that are more authentic

Great tacos and pupusas and made on the spot(so not very fast) but they had some sketchy kid passed out on the bench right where you walk in. Terrible first impression… Almost turned around and walked right back out.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! Delicious breakfasts any time of day, and you will never get an unripe avocado with your meal. Do I wish they had better coffee? Of course… but thankfully the Green Lizard next door will hook you up with that! The ladies who work here are super friendly and love to see happy eaters enjoying their tasty food.

Dropped by for carry-out while biking along the WO&D. I was the only non-latino for the 15 minutes I was there(which I took as a good sign). You order at the front and either pick up carry out in the front or pick up dishes at the end if dining in. Basic Décor. We tried the quesadilla and torta. The quesadilla was ok but came with rice, salad, guacamole packet and refried beans. The torta was really good, kind of like a steak and cheese with avocado. I didn’t realize until later they have traditional«american» fare too. If I frequented the place and tried more things the rating might get bumped up. Also there was only one gatorade in the fridge in case any bikers/runner are wondering.

Excellent pupusas & authentic Salvadorian tamales make this place my spot for some good Latin fix in old town Herndon. You better brush up on your Spanish before heading in here though. I learned how to order my #8 to go very quickly… you should too. ‘Dos tamales y dos pupusas de queso para llevar’ Not sure how accurate that was, but it worked. Got my food, enjoyed every last morsel.

Stopped in here after I drove by it a few times. I am a fan of a good pupusa, since they have it in their name, how bad could it be? The pupsa itself was just ok, nothing to write home about. What did amaze me was the steak quesadilla, the steak in it was amazing, if I ever go back it will be just for that. On a side note, no one spoke english in here. If you do not speak Spanish you can just point at the menu though, which worked for me. They were friendly and patient about it.

For what you get, this place is overpriced. Some of the dishes are good – My fiancée’s pechuga al grill, for instance, was quite tasty – but my pupusas were leaky and runny and partly burned and gave me serious indigestion, which I don’t usually get with Salvadoran food. I’m not sure I trust their curtido either – is it really supposed to be bright yellow? There are a zillion other pupuserías within a stone’s throw. I have no reason to go back.

Service is a bit slow but well worth the wait. I am a huge fan of pupusas since my wife is from El Salvador and her fam makes them all the time. The last time I had pupusas this good was when I was actually visiting El Salvador. So cheesy and fresh! My wife got carne asada tacos which were also very, very good and fresh tasting. A small and authentic place and well worth the visit for any true fans of this type of food. Even my wife’s grandmother who lives in El Salvador and is visiting right now says the food tasted just like home.

This is a tiny little El Salvadorean place in Old Herndon Town Center. It has both Mexican and El Salvadorean food. It seems to be a popular place, however, in comparison to other restaurants serving same food, I have had much better. The papusas here are very thin and tasted like they were cooked on a dirty grill. The fried plantains were good. Very casual place with limited seating that is crowded. Some of the staff are very friendly. Nice selection of Mexican sodas.

Very little place that I visited one chilly afternoon. I think that many of the offerings are Salvadoran; these are far superior to any Mexican or Tex-Mex offerings like burritos. The yucca, which looked very appealing on the visual menu, did not disappoint. The burrito kind of did. What to expect: Telemundo and your food to be prepared and brought to the counter. What not to expect: Exceptionally good or very cheap food. Unlikely I’ll be back, but it fit the bill.

Got to hand it to Neal E that guy gets around and finds all sorts of cool little places in NOVA. This place is just about as close as you can get to El Salvador without a long trip. Lovely place, big menus, lots of choices, kitchen is at front and café is in the back. Neal, this«little shack» is how the food is made in the owner’s hometown and you can see, feel and taste its marvellous autheniticity — a wee bit on the lbnad side so you might need to spice it up with the condiments — but definitely a place to try.

**3.5 stars** This little joint sits right off of Elden Street at the edge of Old Town Herndon. I’ve driven past it a zillion times and wondered about it — so this evening I stopped and took the plunge for dinner. First of all — if anyone cares to interpret — what does«Pupuseria Mi Champita» mean? Also, on their business card is the following: «Se come como en mi Pueblo» AND Comida Hispana y Americana Latinamerican & American food Interpretation anyone? On to the food. I ordered a #30 — which according to the visual menu — was a Burrito of sorts with a side of fries. I added a 20 oz. bottle of Aquafina water — to eat in. I grabbed a table and sat down to wait. There was a large flat screen HDTV on the wall showing what appeared to a Hispanic version of a soap opera — all in Spanish of course. I watched and have no idea what was going on — other than there appeared to be a lot of sexual innuendo going on — also of note — every woman on the program under 30 was extremely well endowed and was dressed in skin tight, form-fitting outfits designed to show these assets to their fullest effect. When my food was ready, the lady appeared at the counter with it and motioned for me to come and get my tray. The French Fries were traditional crinkle cut, hot, crisp, and cooked perfectly. They had absolutely no salt — which is fine — I can choose how much to add — and I did. The Burrito had a rice and beef filling — with some sort of white sauce — I couldn’t identify it. It wasn’t spicy at all. So I added doses of Cholulu sauce to the Burrito as I worked through it. Overall — a decent Buritto — not the best but serviceable. Dinner was $ 9.00 and change — you pay at the time you order — I paid with a credit card and was not sure about the place, I assumed they waited on you(they don’t) — I left a $ 2.00 tip on the receipt. I’d be interested to hear what other folks who eat in Herndon think of the place — Paul M. — are you listening???
