Hialeah is full of little mom and pops like this one. Some of them are good. Some, not so good. I went here for lunch today. Had the mofongo con camarones. Very good– not the healthiest food choice, but delicious. They have a full bar and the staff was very courteous. My boss had the snapper. It was good. Fresh, normal. I think we paid 25 for 2 people for lunch. Not bad. Overall good experience. I would go back. The ambiance is ok. the location is ok.(it’s in a strip mall).

Live music, margaritas and the best appetizer plate this side of the Hialeah city limits! Puerto Marino sits in a small shopping center off the palmetto and at first glance you may think of it as just another hispanic restaurant in Hialeah, you’d be wrong! Inside this tiny bar/restaurant is a woman, Juana, who makes sure all her patrons are well taken care of. She also makes sure her staff is on their game 24⁄7 not to mention they make a pretty mean margarita! If you find yourself in Hialeah either hungry or looking for some merengue and bachata to shake your booty to go to Puerto Marino order a margarita and a what I can only imagine is called the sampler and have a great old time. Whether your are people watching or participating it is an entertaining evening on a budget!

went here on a week night who knows the owner(best way to go to a restaurant!) we were greeted and sat immediately. there was some nice music(live dj) playing, mostly Spanish music… i love fish and try to eat it everywhere it may be available so here was no exception. i asked what they had and the owner said — fresh grouper grilled! we first started with another love of mine, ceviche — handmade by the owner himself. even now writing about it makes my mouth watery… then onto the fish! it was a beautiful fillet placed on my plate with cut up wedges of lime… it had a nice crust on it and served with crispy tostones! the fish was cooked to just right and tostones were crunchy yet soft inside… the wine — a bottle picked by the owner not sure of name but even thou we were having fish, this red wine paired perfectly with the meal… my friend asked for a whole snapper deep fried!!! when it was placed in front of him i could not resist, took a piece — even thou deep fried, there was no trace of oil… its skin was cooked to a delicious crisp and the tender white meat inside melted in your mouth!!! not a fancy place, but it was good food… and service was great… and the good thing was we went back w/o our friend and they remembered us and treated us with in the same manner as in our first visit.
