Studio Sublime Paul Mitchell Focus Salon

My hair looks better than ever after going to this place! I got a cut and style and a free glass of wine for a great deal. I would definitely recommend this salon, especially Kelsey. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.

One of the best haircuts I’ve ever had but… Where’s Dorian! I’ve had my haircut twice since he’s gone and it’s just not the same. He’s on a whole different level!

First time here. Came in for highlights. Nene was my stylist. She was so sweet and took her time to look at my hair and decide which was the best option for me. I really liked how the stylists consulted with each other before she colored my hair. I was offered water, wine or a mimosa. She also massaged my scalp, shoulders and hands. This place is a little pricey for me but I loved it. I will definitely be back.

I was traveling for work and my hair really needed some attention! Being new to the area I was unsure where to go and I am always nervous about trying a new salon and stylist. I was more than pleasantly surprised with my experience at Sublime! Nene listened to what I wanted and delivered! I got my roots colored and a glaze. I couldn’t be happier. I also got a fantastic blow out. Nene was very skilled, sweet and professional. Plus, I was offered wine and mimosas to boot. I will definitely be going back!

My husband and I decided to try the salon after reviewing all of the Unilocal reviews. I must say this is the best salon I have been to in a long time. The stylist I had was Tina and she did a remarkable job on my hair. She took her time and gave an awesome massage while washing my hair. My husband had kailyn who fixed his hair from a previous stylist he went to. I can say his hair looks better and he is as handsome as ever. I can say I have found the permanent salon for my husband and I. Thanks so much for making us feel comfortable in your salon.

A friend of mine recommend this salon and the stylist I should see. I’m so glad I took his advice. My first experience at Sublime was incredible. As soon as you walk in the door you can tell the owner, Tina and the stylist really care about their work. All of the stylist are so friendly. As soon as I got to the chair I was offered a drink. Choices included cucumber water, coffee, or an alcoholic beverage. My stylist, Dorian, is fantastic. He don’t just cut hair, he’s an artist. After my cut I was taken to the wash house where my hair was shampooed and conditioned. I also received a scalp and neck massage. A warm towel was placed on my face and lotion rubbed on my arms. This was a first for me. I was so relaxed and happy with my cut. Just about every time I go in for a cut I leave with a new product too. The stylist are so knowledgable about the Paul Mitchell line of products. Give Dorian or the other stylist a chance, you will not leave disappointed!

I don’t even know where to begin.
The consultation means nothing. Basically, no matter what you ask or show the stylist, he or she will do what he or she wants. They make it seem like they don’t have any secrets because of their «open color bar» or whatever, but unless you’re a stylist yourself you won’t know what they’re doing. Even if they show you a swatch, they’ll mix something they think is better for you and tell you after they’ve applied it.
Or worse, show you a color and lie about how it will turn out. I realize that color takes differently to different hair, but in my experience, this was a flat out lie. And it’s not like they’ll pretend they did exactly what you asked of them, oh no! Once it’s dry, they’ll say something like, «I knew what was better for you. And you wanted color similar to that picture HA!»
Also, no one even taught them how to brush hair. They’ll rake through it from top to bottom like a three year old and wonder why your hair is giving them such a hard time and tangling at the ends. And they’ll bluntly insult you. I was asked how long it took me to curl my hair, and the stylist chuckled and said «probably because you don’t know what you’re doing.» Then it took the stylist the same amount of time to do it as I do! (Yes I timed it!)
To top it off, it’ll cost you an arm and a leg– more expensive than Charlotte salons! (And they flat out ask you before they do anything how much you want to spend. Like, no. You’re supposed to have a price, I pay that, we don’t haggle in the hair salon.)
And when you tell them it wasn’t even close to what you expected and you don’t like the color, they want to make another appointment– full charge.
I’ve never been a box dye person, but I have never wanted a nice natural dark brown as much as I do now.
Needless to say, unless you’re extremely and painfully blunt in the consultation and remind the stylist at every moment what you want exactly, you’ll probably leave with a monstrosity that will take months to fade into something you can dye over.

I couldn’t believe this salon had an African American stylist who could do my natural hair but they do! Thank God for Né Né who knows how to do natural hair styles or straighten natural hair. I’m new to the area and am so happy to get high quality styling so far from Charlotte. And they serve wine! #winning

I happened upon this salon by accident. (walking past going for frozen yogurt) So I made myself an appointment with Dorian. He is a miracle worker. My hair was in desperate need of help. He gave me a transformation. Cut and color. Red ombré. Amazing!!! I get compliments everywhere I go. Dorian is fantastic!!! I love him and the staff. Everyone there is so nice. I highly recommend it!

This was my third visit to Sublime. I found this studio after I had such an amazing experience at a Paul Mitchell salon out of town. I can not say enough good things about this place and the staff! Dorian, the hair whisperer, is one of the best hair stylists I have ever met. He not only knows the most in fashion styles, but, he also knows the science behind them. He could tell me exactly how, and why, the products work by breaking down the elements. I have gotten my hair color changed all three times, and I love Dorian’s color design more and more. He is an artist. Paul Mitchell always has the best products but it takes a talented staff to really make those products shine. The other members of this studio also help to make the place a friendly atmosphere to spend an afternoon. Go get some hair magic there, today! You won’t be disappointed!

Came here after having an amazing experience at a Paul Mitchell salon in Savannah, GA and finding them on the PM salon locator. For the most part the staff were all very warm and friendly. I brought the formula the stylist in Savannah did (or close to what she could remember while calling me out of the office) and was slightly nervous when my stylist here seemed stumped; the owner helped her out through most of the appointment so I felt relieved. Overall I really liked the (super cute and very sharp) salon and staff.
VERY affordable (compared to the same service being done in Savannah or downtown Charlotte)
New salon and mixed stylist experience.
