Can’t go wrong here with the dosa. My favorite is the Mysore Masala Dosa. If you happen to be a Honkatorian who likes spicy food, you have to tell the waiter you want your food«Indian spicy, not white boy spicy» when you order. I can vouch that all of the following dishes are solid: Mutter Paneer(order with poori) Mysore Masala Dosa Paneer Pondicherry Dosa Gunpowder Dosa Healthy Salad Chili Pakora Any lassi drink. This place gets SO crowded, that if you arrive during dinner time, it’s like trying to get into the Super Bowl. I recommend that people stick with weekdays and off-how’s like 3PM.

Been going here for years & highly recommend this vegetarian place. From the chile pakora to the dosas, everything is excellent, even for a meat-eater like me. The dosas are the way to go & you can order them mild to extra spicy & not lose your sense of taste.

Bugs!!! Always loved this place for many years. During a recent visit with my wife and brother in law we had some apps. Then the dosas were served, trying to figure out who’s dosa is who’s, I noticed inside one of the dosas a large stink bug baked into it. Grossed me out so much I immediately got up, put on my jacket on and called over a servant. I said we got a big problem here as I pointed at the bug, I said I’m leaving now and walked out! Many people I know who also loved this place will no longer be going. It really sucks, it can happen anywhere but I’m going to have to pass on the bugs and do more home cooking! I only wish I had taken a picture to share.

I love House of Dosas. Went there Monday afternoon for lunch. I had Paneer dosa which is my favorite. It’s always so delicious. One of my family members enjoyed the masala dosa, while one order Sambar and Idli while the other had a Cheese Masala Dosa. We all enjoyed our meals. We had two orders of Badam Halwa, one with Vanilla ice cream and one order with Mango ice cream both of which were great. I personally love their Badam Halwa over most other places especially with vanilla ice cream. Their Chai is quite good as well. Their service was great and the waiter gave us three small warm sweets to try for free as well which was very nice of him. I would recommend coming here any day for delicious Dosas.

I’m not a vegetarian but this place is great! I’m more used to eating North indian food but this is something different — in the good way. I had their bhelpuri for my appetizer. That was the best! It was a great combo of spicy and sour. Then I tried the cheese dosa and onion uttapam. Good stuff! I liked the orange chutney better than the greenish coconut chutney. Also I’m not much of a sambar person, either. Too much cambell-tomato soup going on there. Their pakoras are great too — but the chili pakora literally burned my mouth — I MEANLITERALLY. Watch out for that one. My eyes were watering haha never had that happen before. I ended with the madras coffee which was yummy! Overall, it was a great experience and I will be back.

OMGWHEREDO I EVENBEGIN? I went to House of Dosas after CRAVING Indian food. I came on a Saturday night so you already know there was a bit of a line! Had to wait about 30 minutes. Come during the week and you’ll be seated right away! You have to remember this is SOUTH Indian so if you are looking for meat, go somewhere else! But don’t be fooled. No meat = EVENMOREFULL. Everything from the rice, the dosas, the potatoes. I’ve pretty much tried everything on the menu and hands down, the best dosas I’ve ever had! Won’t get my dosas anywhere else!

I came her on a lunch break for the first time during the weekend. The staff was friendly however inexperienced. I ordered a paneer dosa with no potatoes, and a mango lassi. The paneer dosa originally comes with potatoes, and since the potato mixture is premade and has nuts in it(I am allergic) I asked for only paneer in the dosa. When my order was ready, I was told that my total for a paneer dosa and mango lassi was 18.77. That is absurd. When I questioned the bill, I was told that I was charged an extra 5.00 because I did not have potatoes in my mix. I asked if the paneer had to be specially made– no. The answer I was given was that because I did not have potatoes, I was given more paneer. After discussions back and forth with the manager, My bill was reduced to 16.00 and change. When I went home, I measured out the«extra paneer» and it amounted to 1⁄3 of a cup. The cup was also mostly onions and not much paneer. The mango lassi was tasty. I have been to countless restaurants for dosa, and for the price and the amount of food, House of Dosas is NOT worth it. The staff is not friendly, and the prices are unreasonable– it makes no sense to charge EXTRA when something is removed from the item. I will not go here again.

South Indian street food is so good and this place does dosas right! So many options to choose from, too! The only catch were the bhel puri and rasmalai were way over priced. The rasmalai was delicious but tiny and we would have been better off getting a box of Nanak rasmalai from Apna Bazaar or Patel Bros down the street.

The food is always fresh and service on point! I recommend the Cheese Dosa with mango lassi! It’s a good place to have a quick lunch when you’re around the area doing some of your desi shopping!

Order anything on this enticing menu; there’s virtually no way to go wrong. Vegetable dishes, cheese and of course all these wonderful dosas choices. We enjoyed a spicy cheese and spinach curry and the semolina potato dosa made it very yummy(even for one who doesn’t like excess spice) with basmati rice. A great place for authentic southern Indian cuisine.

I love House of Dosas! The décor of this place is very simple and clean. Their price is right and their portions are perfect. The service was also very fast and friendly. I came here for dinner around 6pm on a Saturday and had to wait around 20 minutes for a table for 2. I didn’t mind waiting at all because the wait was definitely worth it. I ordered the Paneer Pondicherry and it was spicy goodness! The best part about this place is that they do not serve meat. I am a pescetarian who is trying very hard to transition into being a vegetarian, and this place definitely makes that transition a little bit easier :)

If there was a 10 star option, I would give it to House Of Dosas!!! I’ve been here 4 times and I think I’m obsessed. Ok can u tell that I love this place? So don’t come for the décor or the ambiance because you will be disappointed. The waiter was nice, being that we were the only non indian people in there. And he had a lot of patience. This is a vegetarian restaurant and they do not serve alcohol, not my usual but I did not miss the meat or a drink because the food is fabulous. And they serve their water in a silver teapot and silver glasses. Bonus points for that! For sure get the appetizer of this puffed rice thing, I can’t live without it. It has a sweet and spicy taste that is unique and addictive. I also recommend the firecracker dosa. It is filled with potato and ?? Hmm, I don’t know what but it is insanely good. The coconut rice was die for, it had pieces of roasted cashew in it. So yum! I want to go back tomorrow…

I eat here for lunch at least once a week but sometimes two and lately have been getting takeout for dinner also… I am fairly new to South Indian cuisine but I was told about House of Dosas about 6 months ago and I am hooked. I try to try at least one new thing each week and I am obsessed! EVERYTHINGISMEATLESS! My absolute favorite dish is the Uppuma((Crème of wheat w/mild spices served w/sambar & chutney) and I find myself craving it daily. They use fresh parsley which to me adds the perfect finishing touch to such a delicious dish. I ALWAYS start off with the Uppuma! I never even would have tried it if a friend of mine didn’t tell me how good it was and I am so glad I listened. My absolute favorite dosa is the Onion Rava Masala Dosa. The potato mixture inside is amazing and it is the perfect amount. One thing I truly hate is the oversized portions that restaurants serve today and at the House of Dosas, the prices are so low and the portions are just right for me. I recently tried the vegetable curry Aloo Palak(Potatoes & spinach cooked w/spices) with rice and both myself and my husband loved it… I ordered it medium spicy and it was just that, not too spicy but enough for me to really taste the spice! The Vegetable Biryani(rice cooked w/garden fresh vegetables & spices) is also very good and I have enjoyed every dosa I have tried so far which is quite a few of them. If you don’t eat meat, you will love the fact that you can eat every single item on the menu. I ask a lot of questions because I really want to know the food here and the staff is always accommodating. I learned from a woman at the table next to me about the UUthappam, she described is as a pizza but with different toppings than a traditional pizza so I tried the Onion Garlic Chili Uttappam and it was amazing. My husband usually orders that and I know he was skeptical at first but he is now a fan!

How have I been eating here for so long without writing a review? This place is great. It’s inexpensive, the service is friendly, and the food tastes great. My sister got me eating here and now she’s on a first name basis with the friendly owner. When our chef brother was in town from Las Vegas, he and his wife had lunch here just about every day. Overall, it’s a friendly happy experience.

I traveled from Brooklyn with my motorcycle crew to eat here and I was quite disappointed. The staff was great, the bathroom is clean, and the tables were full so they must be doing something right. Rava Idly — it’s basically like a soft coconut cake that isn’t sweet. I love that it wasn’t sweet but it was toward the dry side. Pondicherry dosa — it’s basically a potato dosa… I was expecting the mixture of spices to make me enjoy it even though it had potato masala. ONLYONECREDITCARDPERTABLE. THEYCHARGEFOREXTRASAUCE.
