Just heard the K K in the name could possibly stand for KKK. Is this true, please clarify.

I had heard all of the great reviews about this place but things aren’t the same. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and it was dry and flavorless. It was hand breaded and all but that didn’t mean it was good. I thought the pie was overrated too.

Great mom & pop diner. Hamburger was done well. Giant serving of spicy curly fries. Need to share! Next time onion rings! Pies looked super, but we didn’t have room. Next door is a fabulous chocolate store. Great stop.

We always look forward to coming here however, today was a huge disappointment. We ordered the lunch special of fried chicken, potatoes and dessert. The chicken tasted as if it had been sitting quite a bit. Granted we always eat breakfast and thought today we are going for something different. That was a mistake!

Decent food. Large portions. Fast service considering how packed it was. The pies were really good. But… they do not take credit cards. Not the best place I’ve eaten, but, certainly not the worst. Regarding another review I saw, the place didn’t look dirty to me. It just seemed dated. It could definitely use a makeover.

I didn’t taste their pies, which they are famous for, but the food was bland. Their batter for frying is delicious, but the chicken fried chicken was without seasoning. Seems like they season less and makeup with their batter, which doesn’t always work. Receiving your food also takes quite some time, We dropped in for a quick meal on our way home to Dallas and it ended up being a 2 hr dinner. Yes, there were 12 of us, but still. I think I’ll skip it next time and just drive straight thru.

I normally don’t write bad reviews much less give just one star but this place has fallen off pretty badly. We have a ranch in Hico and get our pies for Thanksgiving from them. They are normally pretty good! We’ve eaten at KKC like 10x over the past two years and literally each time the place is dirtier, slower, & the food tasteless. Whoever is in charge needs to get a grip on the service and pace of the kitchen. It took 45min to get a breakfast plate(which then had to be sent back because the pancakes were burnt), corn dog & fries, and chicken fried steak out last night. My Chx Fry tasted like nothing. No salt, no seasoning, nothing. It was awful. Like we may never go back unless we HAVETO awful.

Stopped in for pie on our way back to Dallas. Hubby had Banana Blueberry and I had Dr. Orders. Big slices −1÷6. May have to wait, there was a crowd at 1:44. Yummy! Biscuits looked really good!

This little gem surprised the heck out of me. We were passing through from Dallas and decided to try. I love a good burger, so I am a little picky. I ordered the jalapeño cream cheese burger. I have always said you can put cream cheese on anything, and by golly the Koffee Kup proved me right. The meat itself had a great flavor, but throw some cream cheese and jalapeños on it and, you sir, are a frickin genius! The wait staff are lovely, and very accommodating. To finish my taste bud euphoria I had a piece of coconut pie. Delish, not too sweet. I just love these little Texas town diners/cafes. Stop and try. You will thank me!

Wow I’m impressed with the food and service provided by the Koffee Kup staff. I ordered the Scottish burger. It was a ½ lb. Burger with bacon, jalapeños lettuce and ranch dressing on an open face bun with onion rings. This was one of the top burgers I’ve had in the past 20 years. And the onion rings were hot and fresh and cooked to the right crispy texture. My mom had the chicken salad and it was piled high with lettuce tomato bell peppers pickles and at least ½ lb of chunks of chicken. It was great. I highly recommend you give them a try.

Disclaimer– This review is for pie only. Coconut Meringue– Let me first admire the mile high meringue. Never have I seen such a wonderfully shaped and consistent meringue. The Koffee Kup has clearly perfected this art and it should be photographed and framed on the wall. The coconut pie portion was a delicious delight with just the right amount of coconut(coming from a coconut admirer). It’s also finished with coconut shavings atop the meringue. Yum! A Koffee Kup favorite. Chocolate Meringue– Another beautiful meringue display. The chocolate was not overwhelming or too dense. It had more of a pudding consistency and was very tasty. A recommend for the chocolate lover. Pecan Pie– The description reads that it has a Carmel center which is a bit misleading. It is a standard pecan pie. Very good, not too sweet with toasted pecan crunchy top. Recommend if you enjoy pecans. Reese’s Pieces Pie– A very good choice for the peanut butter lover. It contains two different layers of peanut butter, the first was a bit more dense and the second was more fluffy. Followed by a white whipped topping. Was a bit sweet but not overwhelming. I give it a peanut butter covered thumbs up! Banana Blueberry– For banana lovers only. The base of the pie is filled with sliced bananas-lots of them. The bananas are then covered in a cream cheese filling, with a small amount of blueberry filling on top. I was most disappointed in this pie. I love banana and blueberry pie so I was curious to try the marriage of the two. The cream cheese filling was too sweet and too dense, it needed to be cut with something(sour cream perhaps). I also was not a fan of the thick blueberry filling which tasted artificial. Overall was ok, but would not get again. Other useful info– You can pay with cash or check only. They also have a drive thru to order your pies or other tasty food to go! Still have a sweet tooth after you’re done? Head next door to Weismans Chocolate for some more homemade treats!

Well if you ever find yourself in Hico Texas and you’re hungry the coffee cup is about the best bet. This is the second time my family has eaten there. My sister is on a mission to eat Texas monthly’s top 50 hamburgers. So the coffee cup was a must stop for her. If you are in a hurry this is not the place for you! Expect to be there for an hour. I ordered the chili cheese burger… They need to rename it. It’s really cooked hamburger meat on top of the hamburger patty. Don’t get me wrong it’s good. But it’s meat on meat. No chili. I got a side of onion rings. They were fresh and crispy! I bet we will stop in the next time we pass through Hico!

Pie stop, blueberry banana, trying something new here. Sunday morning 11ish, seated quickly. Ordering slow… delivery of food… slower Blueberry Banana is super super sweet, had expected a vanilla like custard in the middle, nope, just the overly sweetened topping, richer than cool whip, but… did I mention super sweet? Recommend you stick with Doctors Office, Black Forest, etc. anything but blueberry banana.

Was looking forward to an old fashioned chicken fried steak, they brought out a beautiful golden chicken fry that about the size of my cows watering trough, tasted like it had been soaking in it for days too! About one third if it was burned(under that beautiful golden crust), should have just got a piece of pie. Don’t take cards either.

I was really impressed. I had one of the best burger in years there. The onion rings were amazing and every single thing that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. If I’d been hungrier, I would have ordered the chicken fried steak, in fact, next time I will. And then there are the pies… Just don’t forget the cash!

Stopped in for launch headed back to Houston after being in Lubbock for the weekend. The food was typical diner food that you can find across Texas and any small town. The apricot cobbler was amazing. Food was hot. Waitress was friendly. They need to do some spring cleaning around the corners and edges. Pretty rundown dirty place. You could barely see through the pie case it was so dirty.

Saw this place on Texas Country Reporter which highly suggested the pie. My daughter had the tortilla soup. Different from the typical as it was creamy. Very good and I highly suggested it. Didn’t have room for pie as lunch was more than enough. But, they brought out bread pudding as part of my catfish lunch special. I have never been impressed with bread pudding in the past and would never have order it. Their bread pudding was the star of the meal. They only serve it twice per week(Tuesday and Friday). It is created from their in house made biscuits and served hot with a rum sauce. Skip the pie if your here on bread pudding day.

I have only been here once before and that was back in 2009, but I don’t even remember how it was. I was told that the chicken fried steak was made fresh and so was the gravy. Well, I am a chicken fried steak lover and I know a good one, so of course I ordered it. Oh, I guess I should mention the once again robotic service I got. I tried the chicken fried steak and it sure did look pretty, but the looks didn’t translate to taste. There was absolutely no flavor at all in the CFS and the gravy tasted like a mix, looked like a mix, but they sure assured me that it was fresh. Ok, I will let them have a play on the word fresh, it may have been fresh out of a box, but it sure wasn’t from scratch! I sent the food back and the cook got offended and made sure I knew about it. Well, that kind of attitude never works! I did however like the green beans and had 4 dishes of them.

If you’re going to the Koffee Kup, order diner food, folks. I saw one review where the guy didn’t like the tacos. Really? Don’t order tacos at a diner. That said, we really like this place and always stop here(and immediately afterwards visit Wiseman’s Chocolates across the street). I had a half order of onion rings, which consisted of about twenty crispy huge onion rings. They were really good salted and dipped in ketchup. Yum. Also had a side salad because was going to save myself for pie. Didn’t work, I was too full for pie. DH had the hamburger, which was cooked to his liking, and the peanut butter meringue pie. He loved both. When we walked in it was very crowded and we were prepared to wait, but a nice couple just passing through Hico on their way home to Waco, asked us to sit with them at a table for four so we wouldn’t have to wait. Good ‘olé Texas hospitality. That’s what this place is. We’ll be back when we’re passing through!

Actually not crazy about the coffee but everything else is pretty good. It’s a great rest stop from the long drive on highway 281. Chili cheeseburger with onion rings is a meal. Grilled chicken salad is loaded with hot chicken. The real winner at this place is the pie. Numerous selections of homemade goodness. Be patient though because it is usually crowded.
