Some friends and I were on a road trip to Florida and discovered this little place as we were trying to find something to eat. My friend and I both ordered a burger. My friend told our server, Alyssa, no pickles twice and even said make sure you write that down(she hates the taste the pickles leave even if she picks them off). What do you know, the burger came with pickles. I can’t remember what my burger was called, but it came with an onion ring, bacon, and bbq sauce. I enjoyed it. I got cheese fries, they were ok. Our other friend got a chicken sandwich, she was very disappointed. The bun and veggies were soggy, she took a few bites and didn’t want the rest. The food was over priced for the quality. Our server checked on us once. She seemed like she didn’t really care for us. It was a classic diner, nothing special. Cute atmosphere. Probably wouldn’t come here if I lived in town.

I really like this place! Their breakfast is delicious, fast and they make sure it’s just the way you like it. My favorites are the omelettes and their grits… being from Ga I’m kinda picky bout mah grits and The Diner does ‘em right! My other favorite is their sandwiches… the Reuben and the roast beef I’ve eaten many times and have never been disappointed… gotta get their perfectly cooked French fries to go with… Crisp outside… steamy inside… Plus I’ve always gotten very attentive service each time I’ve visited the Diner. Another great feature is their covered patio with fans or heaters as needed for us outdoor lovers. Try it!

An excellent diner with excellent breakfast and they also have bangers and mash. We plan to try these for dinner. Get your food on while you are getting your tanks filled near by

I’ll start off saying this: the food isn’t amazing. It’s good, but it’s good for a diner which already sets a low bar. Some friends and I all had burgers, The Diner’s signature piece. They were heavy, hearty, and quite filling. The Wall is great so don’t be intimidated by the size! Food is a bit pricy too so I wouldn’t recommend adding much onto the default options. The milkshake tasted great, but it was a little too thin. The real strength of the place is the décor and the general atmosphere. It feels incredibly 50s all the way down to the«Guys and Dolls» restrooms and the vintage jukebox.

Classic diner. Good fast service. Had a grilled cheese on rye the with tomato and bacon. The chocolate milkshake was excellent with a very generous portion. A very good experience.

We have lived here in the fort white, high springs area for four years. We have been here a few times and in the beginning it was really good. Then it changed owners more then we can count and it has been crud ever since. The service is so slow by the time the food gets out it is cold. The food it self is lacking in basic flavors. Needless to say we won’t return

Kinda hit and miss with the quality of the food lately. Sometimes we go and it’s really good other times I leave less than pleased. Don’t know what’s going on in the kitchen to get such inconsistent food. We always order the same thing. :-/

We were at the river digs on the July 4 weekend and went into High Springs looking for dinner. We took a chance on The Diner. This place is a classic, shiny-steel 1950’s-style diner restaurant with vintage diner décor. I was skeptical going in and hoped I was vaccinated. The first thing that hit me inside the door was the smell of cooking fish. Ugh. That didn’t do my appetite any favors. The place looked fairly clean and we were greeted by friendly staff. The menu had classic diner fare, and I decided I wanted breakfast, so ordered grits, eggs over medium and toast with bacon. The Boy ordered a classic club, my GF ordered a Reuben. I was pleased. The eggs were done perfectly, grits were the long-cooking type, and not too thick or too thin. Bacon was a good thick slice, though a tad salty. Toast was crisp and they used real butter. My GF said her Reuben was too fatty, but the Boy said his club was perfect and he ate every bit. We’ve marked this as a good spot for breakfast or lunch-but don’t recommend the Reuben. Service was excellent.

I had the French dip and Vanilla malt. It was very tasty and service was very friendly. Diner vibe is really nice, I love the pink chairs, flamingos and vintage artwork. Definitely will be back.

The food is ok… it’s not horrible but it won’t leave you feeling satisfied. This is definitely not the place it used to be when it was floyds. When we walking in no one seated us… we had to just find our way to a seat. Our server who I suspect to be the owners daughter was not that friendly. She took our order and that was the last I saw from her until we got the bill. While we were ordering I was talking to her and she walked away mid sentence. I’m a firm believer in customer service first… product second. Neither was great here.

I have to say, the food was good. But I’m a person who believes in soap and water and a little bleach. Where do I start. lol The bathroom which only has two stales, we’re not bad but not clean. I know a bathroom that has smelly good over dirty. Listen you can’t hide uncleanness with smelly good. It’s like putting on deodorant and your musky, no. It was just, yuck. And the smell was horrible product over dirty. The vents that were over our table that blows out the cool air?, were so over due of a change the lent almost blew on my husband food and I fanned it to keep it from hitting his burger. The waitress was so good at memorizing orders she got a simple cheese burger with ketchup and mayo only WRONG. The waitress also gave me a to go box under 10min of eating. They tend to stare at you while eating. I wasn’t sure what to think of that. Never had a waitress stare at us. Maybe she thought we were talking about her? No. It was worst then shopping at Beauty Max on Main Street.(Read the comments there, we live it so we know how they watch you like a hawk watching a chicken) Over all it was good food and drink and very appealing when it comes to their 50’s décor but we will not come back due to just nastiness. I don’t play that.

The Diner is interesting to look at. However, not being nostalgic for the good-olé-days of the 50s, it wasn’t much of a draw. The food was OK. Not bad but not good enough to go back for. The mains were fine but all the sides were really generic tasting. The only veggie option was frozen mixed veggies and the bfast sausage patty seemed like it had freezer burn.

Lunch today was a pleasant surprise. A friend and I decided to give it a try since we hadn’t been here in about a year. The Diner sure has had its ups and downs through the years and I want this place to be successful. The High Springs dining scene is full of mediocrity and I know The Diner can pull through. When we walked in the Diner we were warmly greeted. Every open table was clean as well as the counters and floors. The menu hasn’t changed much through the years and thats good. The newer menu is easy to read than the last one I remember. Most of the indoor seating is booth seating which I prefer over a table. Our waitress was quick to take our order and it came out of the kitchen in a timely fashion prepared as advertised. She was also quick, courteous, and efficient. Very nice. I ordered a mushroom swiss chicken sandwich. It came with fries and slaw. The sandwich was wonderfully prepared. The grilled chicken breast was moist and juicy, the mushrooms cooked just right, and swiss cheese dripping over the top. Served on a nicely sized bun with lettuce and tomato. The crinkle cut fries have a nice seasoning on them and were hot and crisp. The slaw was simple. Not too creamy, sweet, or tangy, sort of plain and nonchalant but it was a nice compliment to the meal. My only suggestion would be to put the bun on the griddle to warm/toast for a minute before serving. My friend had the grilled fish sandwich as they were also pleasantly surprised. It was also well prepared and tasty. I’ll be back soon to patronize the diner. I have high hopes that they can keep up what they showed me they can do on my visit today.

Eh not impressed. My meat and cheese omelette was overcooked, Texas toast too well done. The hash browns were decent. Not worth the money.

I always drive right by this place in Alachua. but Fri morning I was out of the office and I decided to stop in for some breakfast. This place is full of 1950’s décor, a very young and friendly staff, and reasonably priced menu(may be too reasonable). I had french toast, 2 eggs, and bacon for all under $ 7. Lets not forget the FREEWIFI which made my breakfast experience 10x better! It was so good to my tummy and my wallet that I went back for Round 2 on Saturday. The Diner is definitely one of my fav spots now. Must try!

0 stars but that’s not an option. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. We sat there for an hour and a half before we even saw our food .the food came out hard and cold. In the meantime getting sweet tea or coffee was impossible. We finally asked for the manager and he said it was busy it’s a long weekend… let me tell you there was 4 cars in the parking lot … If that’s busy than they have a serious issue. The manager did end up comping our meal but the 2 hours of my life I’m missing plus the fact that I’m still hungry sucks! It’s time for lunch now though so I guess I’ll go wait somewhere else for food. We will never be back!

We have taken almost all our meals here at the Diner after finding it. The food is very good, not fancy but delicious, hot and fresh. The entire staff is extremely friendly and efficient at the same time. Yes the burgers are great, so is the meatloaf and breakfasts too. Don’t miss out on there homemade pies. One day the owner overheard us talking about key lime pie and the next day he had some ready for us to try. Yum yum. I wish this place was in my home town.

It’s an exciting place to visit just for the 50s décor, but the one menu item I tried fell very short of expectations. It just wasn’t that good. Coming in, you’re greeted with a large Elvis-doll at the door you can take pictures with. It’s a «non-authentic» 50s style diner, meaning it was recently built. In fact, this one was built outside of the area and transported in with a huge trailer. Despite that, this place has an undeniably fun atmosphere, a well designed menu and friendly staff. Our waitress was jovial and jubilant and really made our dining experience that much better. As far as the food — we came in hungry, starved and excited. Our waitress mentioned a special: «three pieces of chicken with ham on top served over angel hair pasta and covered with cheese.» She assured us that the portion was huge and the table who ordered this dish just before us loved it. Most of us ordered this, while my fiancé ordered a veggie burger. The special came out(see picture) and it was OK. Three small pieces of chicken meat with some ham on top and melted mozzarella. The chicken had no discernible seasoning on it. The angel hair pasta was just cooked in some oil. It was overcooked. It tasted as if I was heating up some left overs for myself. Perhaps this place is better off serving burgers and I should have ordered one of those instead of a pasta dish. Or a breakfast item. It is, after all … a diner. I would still come back here to try the burgers(The Wall burger seemed like it would be delicious) if I was back in the area. The atmosphere alone made dining here fun, despite our subpar meal.
