Pretty nice place. I’m a hot dog fan from back east so crave hot dogs every so often. Had the«sliders» and onion rings and they were pretty good. Wonderful staff!

The hotdogs were ok. There were a ton of topping option and gluten free options as well. The chili is made in house but its pretty bland. The staff seemed bored and annoyed but still answered our questions. I don’t know. I wanted to love this place but can’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t.

Well if you are not in the downtown Denver area and can’t make it to Biker Jims… this is going to be your next best alternative. If you want a normal hot dog, this is the place. If you want something a little more unique, this is your place. I tried a spicy polish with cole slaw, bbq sauce and blue cheese. Sounds weird, but tasted good. something different. They offer homemade chips, fries or rings. Good place for hot dogs. The service was good.

Another great experience at Bernie’s. Friendly people and good food. Had the Italian Beef this time. Very good. Next time I will try the Footlong dog I think. Great job Bernie’s!

I got two Bernie dogs, one Chicago-style, one Denver-style. The fries were good too. Chicago dog was spot on. The green chile wasn’t the best on the Denver, but still a decent dog. Saw that they had homemade chips, have to try them next time.

The bison dog with the PCH toppings was really good! I’m gluten free and they wrap the hot dog up in a GF tortilla for you! I will definitely come back!

OMG… just visited the first time. The Classic Italian Beef was to DIE for! The meat was fantastic, sauce even better, and the roll MELTS in your mouth. I just found my new favorite place. Thanks so much to the staff as well ! Cheers, Scott PS…$ 1.00PBR cans all day long… BONUS!

Bernies is back on my 5-star list! Everything was hot, fresh and as I demand it – yes, demand it – from my hot dogs. Plus, they remembered me even though I haven’t been there in months. Can’t beat that customer service!

Got the bison dog Chicago style since it was local and nitrate free. Excellent! And the homemade potato chips were amazing as well. The people behind the counter were extremely friendly — even let me taste the different chip flavors before I ordered. The only suggestion I would make is to add a corn dog option to the menu(not the mini corn dogs currently on the menu but a full sized gourmet corn dog). The mini corn dogs aren’t up to the same high standard as the rest of the food. Thanks so much! Will definitely be back.

Probably about two or three times per year, I find myself caught up into this inexplicable need for a hot dog fix. Last time stricken, the venue was a local Littleton Dairy Queen. Pretty dang good. The hot dog was, well, a hot dog(at least of Ball Park grade), the chili tasted like chili, and the gooey cheddar cheese topped off the near perfect blend(as far as hot dog lunch fare goes). But this review is about Bernie’s in Highlands Ranch… I had the«8 Mile,» featuring the frank with an actual casing(complete with«crunch»), «Coney» chili, yellow mustard and diced onions. Welll…I can’t knock the dog itself, as it was pretty much on par with the better tube steaks of today(decades after fillers and economy took over the notion of actual quality ingredients, gratis Oscar Meyer). The problem may have been in the combo. Unfortunately, I trusted the menu, comprised of named combinations. I should have relied upon my hot-doggary instincts instead. For example, if you want a chili dog, why on earth would you add mustard? Ingredients clash, anyone? Unfortunately, Bernie’s bland version of chili(«Coney») was a bit too mild to overcome even the slightest barrage of mustard. [When was the last time you added mustard to your bowl of chili?] I would have loved to have given Bernie’s at least four stars, being the grateful(if gratified) foodie that I am. However, given that my experience there turned out to be a culinary frustration, I can only muster up a stingy 2 stars. But… Being the fair kind of guy that I am, I’m willing to give Bernie’s a second chance… after all, the dog itself was not the real culprit in this gastric disaster, devoid of intrigue to the palate. Perhaps it was the mustard? Next time(if there is a next time), I’ll try some other combo(of my own design), and will definitely hold the mustard. Meanwhile, I’ll give DQ’s stock chili cheese dog 5 stars(by comparison). Hell, with their actual chili-tasting chili and gooey cheese blend, you could even insert a lowly Oscar Meyer wiener between the buns and it would still be better than what I had at Bernie’s. [Plus, the price was better at DQ… and I do not rate restaurants based on price.]

Best Detroit coney in the Denver-area that we’ve had so far! Fairly legit Detroit coney sauce and natural casing hot dog! They also offer a bunch of other signature city-styled dogs from around the country. If you want to build your own dog, they have a huge variety of fun toppings. Fries were yummy and crispy. Owners are extremely friendly and nice. A little pricey, but you’re getting a higher quality hot dog, flavor, and experience. Will be back again… and again… and again!

This place is awesome. I’ve been here about 10 times now. I usually order the bison dogs, sliders, or just a regular beef hot dog. Everything tastes great & they so many fresh & great options for toppings. The service is fast & friendly. For me, there is nothing negative about this place. Great place for lunch. And to reviewer who would rather goto Home Depot to save a dollar or 2… go right ahead bro… enjoy those nasty 2 day old dogs they sell at Home Depots parking lot… w/only option is ketchup packets, while u standing in a middle of a crowded parking lot. Yeah. Go for it bro.

Great concept and fun environment — I mean who doesn’t like hot dogs. I took my little niece and she went nutts — she was singing«Bernie’s Bernies Bernies.» The selection was good and I could customize anything I wanted. PLUS… they have $ 1PBR or Rolling Rock all day long.

Prepare to get messy! I’m pleased to see a solid hot dog joint in the south metro. We came here for lunch a couple of weeks ago, since it’s one of the only non-chain spots near my wife’s office. I had a spicy Polish, PCH style, which included bacon, guac, and tomatoes. Really good, and definitely worth repeating. My wife ordered another spicy Polish, but did it Colfax Ave style, which is basically a chili dog, but uses green chili instead. Very tasty. I ended up not giving this one back to her once she invited me to try it. The two Polish dogs plus an order of onion rings(plus my stealing) seemed to be the right amount of food for two people at lunch. I don’t agree with the other reviews that it’s overpriced. Sure, they’re just hot dogs, but they’re GOOD hot dogs!

Out and about over the weekend and was looking for anything non-chain related, eating local businesses you know. I came across Bernie’s Hot Dog Co in my bookmark list and decided to give it a go. It’s an order at the counter kind of deal. I decided on trying the Bison dog with coney chili, onion, and neon green relish(Chicago relish) and a side of onion rings. The Bison dog was delicious, perfect amount of toppings with the ability to eat without making a complete mess. Bison was flavorful and juicy, not your typical dog. The bun was steamed in a bun steaming machine(can I get one of these please). Steam my bun twice please is what I wanted to say. Onion ring were good, real onions, frozen coming out of a bag though(wish they were made fresh). They also have $ 1PBR’s all day everyday, nice touch Bernies’. Pictures of actual dogs on the walls, very tongue and cheek if you ask me. A dog place with a sense of humor — I love it. If I venture into the area again Bernies’ would definitely be a stop.

Very high quality dogs, a great selection of toppings and such along with a daily lunch special. I’m thinking the price is a bit steep for a drink, a footlong with some chili and rings for over 10 $. Really? Oh well, I guess I’m paying for the location… ??

This is how you do it! Great tasting dogs and polish sausages. Went here with 4 other people and everyone enjoyed what they ordered, even the little ones. My first round was the beef dog, round two was the polish sausage. Next time I’m starting with a polish, then maybe finish off with the beef sandwich, which I have yet to try. Nice view of the mountains in their outdoor seating. The owner’s are nice and accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Had the Colfax Dog, just to see how their Green Chili tastes. The chili was good. The dog lacked that certain«snap» I remember from Nathans, or for that matter Epsteins Deli in Syosset/Plainview. French fries were crispy & tasty. Decent dog at a reasonable price. When venturing down to the Ranch, it’s worth a stop.
