This is my second visit to chaat café and it has gone worse. The first time we had I felt food was greasy but then this time food was bland! We had the Paneer roll Bhel puri papadi chaat and chole bhatura! The Bhel puri was dry and bland. The papdi chaat had too much yogurt and bland. The chole was watery and the bhatura was good The Paneer roll was the only saving grace for the evening! I am not visiting this place again unless I see some rave reviews for this place

This business is very close to our work so when the owners buy lunch this is one of our first go tos. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service there is great and it is well priced.

Irfan, the Chef and the owner is one of the most expert Indian-Pakistani cook in the country. After spending years cooking in Pakistan, Germany and Bay Area, he is now in Hillsboro taking care of cute little Chaat Café. The food is delicious, prices are reasonable and his service makes you feel like you are eating at home. We call Irfan«Maamuu»(Uncle in Urdu) with love and affection.

Not fancy but authentic and homemade. Owners are friendly. Great for takeout. Get the chicken or lamb dinners; they’re all good.

We love this place! We have been coming here since they opened and have had nothing but exceptional service. When you come here to eat, yes you have to wait a while because they are making your food fresh. Not food that has been sitting in a food warmer all day. The staff is friendly and helpful not to mention happy every time we come in. My kids and I eat here all the time! Definitely recommend this place!

Tried this place on 2 occassions — once for lunch and once for dinner. I tried the Spicy veg kofta curry with Naan during lunch. The curry was spicy but was too oily that it had a whole layer of oil floating on top of it. Not sure why the dish had to be so greasy. Naan was just average. When i went for dinner the second time, tried the Papdi chaat which was very poorly made as the Paapdi was not at all crispy and they added too much potatoes in it. The Paneer wrap was too soggy and the taste of Chutney was too overwhelming. Also, the wrap felt cold as if it had been kept refrigerated.

I will never eat here again. I got chicken tikka masala with extra vegetables to go and received a bowl of dried chicken leather in curry sauce. The chicken was so tough, hard and chewy that it was inedible. A waste. I’ll never be back. You would think the owner would care about the quality of what he’s serving since he’s a small operator, but apparently doesn’t based on what he served. Past meals have been good but I’m done. I’m all about supporting the small local businesses but the owner still has to pay attention! Beware and stay away :-(.

I have only been here one time so far, but I tried two dishes at lunch with my brother. We are of Indian descent, so we love Indian food and know what is good. The Palak chicken was AMAZING! I loved it! The chicken was dark meat and very juicy with wonderful flavors. The greens were very flavorful and abundant, which is not common. My brother had the Chicken Vindaloo, which I also tried. It was delicious, as well. He has been coming here often, and has always had consistently good food. I am headed back again after only 2 days, since it was sooo TASTY and YUMMY! HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!

Took takeout from this place in downtown Hillsboro. their samosas are excellent, freshly fried and the chutneys are great. Also had the Chicken Kadhai and Chicken Achari. Very oily but very tasty too. not the healthiest meal but the gravy was delicious, especially the Achari. Some of the best non vegetarian mughlai food I’ve had in Portland till date.

Killer! As bad as the English grammar on every piece of printed material is… the food is equally as excellent. Papri chaat, samosa chaat, and spicy chicken wrap… I WANTTOHAVEANOTHERRIGHTNOW! GIVEITTOMENOW. I want that sauce to drip out of the cheap tin– foil wrapper, scald my hand, and dare me to like it off in public. NOW! Dive? Yes. Fun to try and communicate with owner? Yes. Other-world feel? Yes. Flavor? Yes. Excellent flavor? Yes. Hand made tandoori slapped naan? Yes. My wife and I have come back… how many times now, honey… 5. 6? Can we go tonight? Look the kids are not even here… Let’s go and get one. As a downtown Hillsboro resident, I am truly proud to point you toward this establishment. I hope they manage their books better than their grammar because they need to stay around here… Potentially the best set of real flavors in our town.

Absolutely authentic Indian food. I didn’t expect to find something like this here, but if you want to find the best chicken vindaloo within 50 miles, you’ll find it here. I hail from the Silicon Valley. One of the best parts about the place, in my opinion, is the stellar Indian food. But it’s hard to find the same tastiness when you’re not there, which is why I was elated to discover this place. It’s definitely a hole in the wall, with most dishes being served in to-go containers. The owner doesn’t speak much English. But the thing that matters to me much more is that the spices and cooking are without equal. Eat here. You won’t regret it.

If you have ever made any trips to India, this place will make you think you that you are there. I started with Pani Puri, crisp shells filled with potatoes and spicy water. Samosas were a great size and good and hot. Chicken Curry dinner was amazing! Boneless chicken in yogurt and onion based curry. Plenty of food for two or three to share. Highly recommended.

I was so excited to try this chaat place. First time it got closed at 2:30pm. Online time mentioned is 3 pm! Never mind finally got to try it for lunch. I am disappointed as none of the food items stood out for me. 1)Papdi chaat: average preparation. Too much of cold yogurt and bland taste. Just 2 chutneys, potato and papdi with yogurt used. 2)Paneer tikka masala: excessively sweet, too much cream and grease. Fried paneer with no fresh taste. No flavors at all. I will give this dish 1⁄5.:(. Didn’t taste fresh at all! 3)Chole bhature: this tasted better than rest. Not very spicy and tasted good. 4)Chai :Not strong and flavorful as per Indian chai standards. Customer service: order food on counter and they get it on table. I did mention about my disappointment with paneer tikka masala, the person on counter said he will let his uncle know and next time we should tell them to make it spicy. I am going to give this place a miss. Unless I hear something good about the place. From my experience will give it 2.5 stars.

This is a small restaurant with about 5 – 6 tables. The kitchen is open, so you can see what and how they are cooking which I think is nice. The owners are very friendly. Now coming to the food, I have had a few items on various occasions. Their chaat items(aaloo tikki chaat, papri chaat, etc) are the best you can get in Portland. Chhole Bhature were a good portion size for the money and the chhole was good but the bhature even though not super oily like other places in Portland were a little thick and bready which is not like real bhature. They should be on the thinner side. But again, best in Portland. Their wraps are good and are a great value for your money. The owner really wanted us to try fish kabab but I wasn’t a fan of them after trying. All in all it is definitely a place to keep going for good Indian/Pakistani food.

We were looking for a place to have lunch on Saturday. I was upset to find out that the restaraunts that I wanted to eat at were closed. So I went to this café for the first time. I am so glad that I did. The servers were very friendly, and seemed happy that we were there. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. It is wonderful to have this Eastern Cuisine in the middle of Hillsboro and so close to my home.
