Went here on a Sunday, with the family, to get ice cream. The server was nice and friendly, the shop clean, but the ice cream was overpriced and average. We paid $ 17 for one double scoop cone, two single dip cups and a double scoop cup. Even-though the ice cream is handmade at the shop, we all thought it was just average in taste and texture. In terms of quality ice cream, a container of Tillamook or Umpqua would probably taste better but on the other hand, the ambiance of the shop, was nice.

I promised my boyfriend ice cream if he ran an errand with me, so I wanted to deliver with a fun experience. Goody’s is a cute little shop in cute little Orenco, right on Cornell Rd. We went in around 7 and only one other person was there. The three people behind the counter seemed mildly interested in helping us, but weren’t particularly enthusiastic or willing to engage about their products; however we didn’t let it stop us. He got a two teeny scoop cone, I got a two teeny scoop bowl– the scoops were pretty weak. I got an awesome marionberry sorbet, which was rich but light. Yum! He got cookie dough, with pretty legit chunks of dough. We also got a cashew caramel cluster apiece, and when we ate them later they were fantastic. Like other reviewers, the stale popcorn samples were noted but not tried. All in all, we’ll probably be back when I need to bribe my boyfriend again, but hopefully there’s a different crew working… Also– over $ 15, which is ridiculous but worth it had it been exceptional customer service.

I’m a regular at many of the other businesses in this area, but had yet to stop in until recently. I’m a sugar-a-holic, and I knew that letting me loose in a candy/ice cream shop was bad news bears. My sister was looking for some handmade candy to take home to Texas with her, and so I gathered up what willpower I had and took her inside. I wasn’t expecting much, given the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. There as a family already inside, ordering shakes and goodies, and the employee behind the counter immediately greeted us. She was energetic and friendly, and really engaging with the young kiddos picking their shake flavors. We had a look around while waiting — they have a huge selection of handmade chocolates, toffees(yay! what we were looking for!), caramels, chocolate covered potato chips and the like. A huge list of handmade ice cream flavors was on the wall, and if I hadn’t just had ice cream earlier in the day, I would have been all over that! They also have some classic commercial candies — Razzles, Chick-O-Sticks, etc with a shelf of jelly bellies, gummy bears, etc. Lastly, they had some specialty popcorn flavors that smelled heavenly. The price of $ 28/lb for the candy may seem high, but I don’t think most folks are looking to get that much — you’ve gotta realize that a pound of candy is actually a lot. Sister walked out with 7 huge pieces of buttery nut-covered toffee for $ 10. I got two sea salt caramels and some chocolate covered potato chips for under $ 5. After chatting a bit with the gal behind the counter, I know I’ll definitely be back to support this local business again.

Decided to stop at Goody’s today even though parking and access to the stores there is not convenient. Store is very cute and displayed nicely. Chocolate is $ 28.00/pound. I bought several pieces to take back to work and I have to say that the chocolate is bland — not much flavor. Probably will be my last visit — much prefer See’s candy because it tastes WAY better and easier to get to.

I always like to try a new place at least three times to have a solid opinion on whether I like it or not. So of the three times I’ve been there, tonight was the worst experience. A young girl was behind the counter chatting with what it look like were her friends. Besides my husband and I, there was another couple waiting for her to actually ask if they needed any help. I stared at her for a long time, to see if she noticed she had clients. She kept talking and talking. My husband finally decided to go to her and order what we went for. That’s when she finally realized there were other people in the store besides her friends. The chocolate popcorn was ok, but when she made the Italian soda, she did a crappy job. She poured way too much syrup and it was like she was fed up with her job. Customer service to me is highly important. They do not have that, therefore I won’t be going again. It’s a shame that on three different visits, I had crappy customer service each time.

I have mixed feelings about this place after a few times visiting. The vibe in there is, as another reviewer stated, «dull». It does not feel happy or exciting. I love that they have some of my favorite old school candy and some great chocolates. I have not tried their ice cream or anything else yet(I am really just in it for the candy) but I hope they continue to do business and tweak the little things like atmosphere(maybe have some great, happy music going on). Keep it up Goody’s, I will keep checking in on you now and again.

I was excited to check this place out with some friends and their kids. My husband and I entered the store and no one was there other than the one employee. The employee was quiet and was not much of the customer service type. The rest of our group came in a few minutes later and the employee still was not up to par. Cute store with a variety of candy, flavored popcorn and ice cream. I don’t think I would be coming back to this store. There really wasn’t anything there that I couldn’t get at the local chain store for cheaper. Just lacked the customer service and special experience feel that would set it apart from just going to the local grocery store for goody’s.

We decided to check this place out after they opened a few weeks ago. I was somewhat excited that Hillsboro finally got a «local» ice cream shop but it was disappointing, The scoop are way way small. Decent flavors but definitely spendy. I had the lemon ice cream which was borderline soft serve. Wife tried the coffee which had really good coffee flavor and had a firmer texture. No where near the value or quality you would find at Salt and Straw or Ruby Jewel.

Aw shucks. :(First off, it’s hot outside today! I’m a straight thru and thru pure Oregonian, therefore I enjoy my rain and/or 70 degree mild sunny weather… not when it’s pushing three digits hottt! Damn. On that note, ice cream was calling. We to wanted to try something new, as we do have a few nice and comfortable ice cream, gelato, or frozen yogurt places in our little area. But I was watching an episode of Bizarre Foods on the travel channel and they featured Salt and Straw in Ptld. YUM. I want a creamy milky made with love scoop!!! I just heard of Goodys coming to our neighborhood, so that was our ice cream of choice tonight. The exterior of the little sweet shop was adorable! Orenco area, so of course… Cutesy as heck! But walk inside we did… the vibe was dull, and didn’t put a smile on my face like a candy/ice cream shop should! It had a large selection of nostalgic candies and chocolates, which was cool. They seemed to have lovely looking homemade chocolates, which I did not try, so this review is not covering their candies. The ice cream… I sampled five until I decided on the PB cup… Flavored. It really wasn’t though. Truthfully, as I sampled I couldn’t find a one I liked. They just didn’t have any taste. Really. Like no sweetness, no luciousness, no… nothing. I wanted to just leave and go elsewhere, but I thought that was mean so I got the PB. :(disappointed. We also got a bag of their«fresh» flavored popcorn. We left with the jalepeno, and the taste was right… But dang it… It was STALE. Chewy stale. Had to throw it out. All in all not a good experience. I hope they iron out the kinks, as I know opening a new store there will be some at first for sure. But as for the ice cream… I don’t think that’s a kink… Just not that great of ice cream. I will go back here tho to try the chocolates and to grab a pixi stick or goo goo cluster though!!! :)

Just eh. I was excited to take my kids here for their ‘last day of school’ ice cream. My first impression was ‘cute’. Very retro candy shop. It appeared that ice cream was an afterthought. There was a small list of flavors on the wall(with pricing nowhere to be found). The restroom was dirty and out of paper towels. Upon asking the girl behind the counter how long they’d been open, I was surprised to hear they’d been open only a week. I think the bathroom was cleaned on day 1. There was a great candy/chocolate and popcorn selection. The employee was very nice and offered us samples of ice cream. My son ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone($ 4.25!!!). I ordered a single scoop in a cup(along with a waffle cone to take home for later). The cost was the same, but his cone contained twice as much ice cream as my cup. They did allow us to sample the many flavors of popcorn. We tried the bacon/cheese and the chocolate drizzle. They have about 10 flavors to choose from. The bacon/cheese tasted rather stale. All in all, it was just an okay experience. I set my expectations too high, I guess. Figuring it was the first store of its kind in the Hillsboro area, and having been to the Goody’s in Bend, I was very excited. Next time we’ll just go to Cold Stone or Baskin Robbins.

Stopped in on this lovely sunny day with my daughters. The smell of waffle cones is fabulous! They make their own ice cream as well as the cones. The shop is filled with all kinds of goodies from lollipops, candies, gifts and gourmet popcorn. We only got the ice cream; it was pretty tasty(I got the Butterfinger flavor). I think the overall atmosphere is so fun and reminiscent of the ma & pa parlor. They used to have fro-yo, but alas not anymore. Still worth visiting to satisfy that sweet tooth.
