The waitress was nice and attentive. Food was great and beautifully plated, decently priced as well. I couldn’t be more happier to come here with my friends and enjoy some good sushi on a Friday night. I would definitely eat here again.

Excellent friendly service, a very comfortable atmosphere, and the food is always on point! I go all the time now that I found this little treasure in Hillsboro. I recommend the salmon sashimi! Every time I get it the salmon is so good I have to get 2 orders… Crunchy spicy tuna is my favorite thought! Avocado cucumber role is a must have of course… Easily my favorite spot to eat in Hillsboro

Lunch bento for $ 8.95 is really hard to beat. Portion is great. I always get salmon and tempura and it even comes with 4 pieces of California rolls, soup and salad. Comparing to all other hillsboro Japanese restaurants, this is the best price/quality/service/parking Bento place. It’s my go-to spot for Japanese lunch bento!

Came back here on Saturday night and it was peaceful inside. We ordered house salad which had a great dressing and good amount of salad for $ 3.00. California rolls and Spider rolls are also great. Fresh and tasty . Adeghasi tofu was different than the last time I tried yet the quality was still great. Overall, we had good experiences for the 2nd visit and I will definitely be back to this place.

I was introduced to this place by some family who lives close to this restaurant and they took me here during happy hour. I ordered the udon noodles recommended to me by my family members and I love it. The portion is big, it tastes good, it has mushrooms, good mushrooms! I also had a lemonade and it was good lemonade too. I cannot speak on behalf of the sushi there because I didn’t eat any sushi, but the place was clean, welcoming and very comforting to be in. I docked a star because as stated in another review, the customer service could have been a bit better. I ran out of lemonade and was never offered a refill(I would have been more than happy to pay for another one even if there was a charge for a refill) and I felt kinda iffy because it seemed like one of the servers/waiters there was kinda being passive aggressive with us. My group honestly felt like we did something wrong that we didn’t know about.

Was looking to try a new sushi place and decided to give Hero Sushi a go. The dishes were beautifully plated, very fresh, and hands down delicious. The staff was very polite and told us all about their menu when I mentioned it was our first time there. I will definitely be coming back!

I think the first question that comes to everyone’s mind after dining at a new restaurant is would I ever eat here again. For Hero Sushi, a definite YES. There are at least 5 other sushi restaurant w/in 5 mile radius which I have tried and I would pick this place first. Food was good, clean and tasty. Quick and Friendly service. One small complain, a tad bit too much rice. Overall an experience this diner would like to repeat in the near future. I would definitely recommend.

Time for an update, 8⁄15 I have been here several more times and I have to say things have greatly improved. The last time we went there was a new Waitress and she was absolute perfection, I hope she is there next time we go. They have a lunch Bento Box which I really enjoy and the Miso is still excellent as is the salad. It is nice and clean and never super crowded which I like. Parking is convenient and you can get your coffee on the way out of the complex at Insominia. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star is their absolute unwillingness to substitute anything. My hubby likes the Bento Box but is not a fan of California Rolls he is happy to pay more for Spicy Tuna roll but they refuse, their excuse is «they have no idea how to price it», which is kind of BS because we are able to do it at many other restaurants.

Wow! Finally! Good and affordable sushi! Right in front of my friend’s home! We went here couple days ago! Miso soup was great! We got few rolls and I forgot the names but we are all happy with our meal! I will return! Finally finally good decent sushi!

I went there for lunch on a weekend. This was my second time here and service was excellent like last time. I had the lunch bento combination with the bulgogi and sashimi. While the sashimi serving was generous and equally tasty, the bulgogi was not up to the mark at all — not cooked evenly and not marinated enough. Rest of the components including the salad, miso soup were great. Would come back again, but definitely not order the bulgogi!

Natto! I love natto so much and find that I don’t see it enough. This came in a roll and was a bit heavy on the rice. I wish it had more natto. They have a good vegetable rolls section which is great for vegans. Their presentation is beautiful and the husband enjoyed the fish nigiri/rolls. The place is nicely decorated and clean. There was only one other customer while we were there, so it was nice and quite as well. I don’t like the two tvs playing sports though. It’s distracting for me and I found myself staring at them like a zombie a few times. Guess that’s what happens when you don’t have tv at home.

Out for a guy’s night with my son and we came across Hero Sushi. I hadn’t seen it here before, so it must be relatively new. We’d already eaten earlier in the evening, but with both of us being sushi lovers, we decided to head in to sample a few light things around the menu. I ordered some nigiri(fish on rice) Salmon-toro, Salmon, Maguro(tuna), and Saba(Mackerel). I also ordered their uni(sea urchin). The fish was lovely, very fresh and the rice was also very nicely done. The uni – not so much. I found it to be very strong-flavored and honestly I had difficulty choking it down. Uni should be very«buttery and light and oceany» and this was just heavy and strong. For the cooked food, we ordered a Saba Shioyaki and Son ordered a bowl of beef udon soup. The broth was excellent and he enjoyed the bowl. At $ 14, the Saba Shioyaki was pretty expensive(normally most Japanese restaurants have this in the $ 8 – 10 range) but it was reasonably tasty and they did a decent job of de-boning it before serving. Service was great, the place was clean, and in all, uni aside, everything there was just fine and pricing was about average. 3.5*s, and definitely a spot we’ll hit again.

So. Fairly late on a Sunday evening I was having sushi cravings. I want it when I want it. It’s not always rational. I finally dragged myself away from staring at the empty fridge(I was willing it to produce sushi a la star trek but it just wasn’t happening) and went to the closest grocery. The sushi case was empty, sigh. Along comes my ex. No, not kidding. We live in the same hood so we are both close to Princess’ school. ” Sushi craving?“ I nodded. Mute. Irritated. Of course he shows up. «Come on, lets go get you some.» We are trying to be friendly. Well, he is. Sort of. Its complicated. Ok. Desperate sushi cravings call for desperate measures. We looked on Unilocal.Everything close is closed on Sunday. Yuki, Toshi, Shoten, Ikenohana, all closed. He can’t do sushi track because he typically needs alternatives to sushi. Yes, I was married for 14 years to a non sushi liker. Yes. It was an ignored red flag. Really. Don’t do what I did. This is an important issue. Couples should be sushi compatible. Anyway. We landed here at Hero. «Ill eat sushi too» he says. WTF? Humph. Our server was lovely. Attentive, unobtrusive, perfect. I didnt even notice when she whisked dirty dishes away. We ordered too much sushi. Couldn’t finish it which is unheard of. The plating was very straightforward, no special effort to make it pretty like other places I go. The sushi pieces themselves were huge, though. Not bite sized and hard to manage with chopsticks. The miso and sunomono and tea were perfect. Ex said«sushi doesnt taste like anything.» Just what’s rolled in with it. But raw fish, he insists, has no taste. Why do you like it so much? it tastes like air. Seriously! Ugh. I think it tastes like the ocean. And summer. I enjoyed my sake nigiri and the lobster roll especially. This was a good sushi outing, well, mostly. It was a little expensive. They do have happy hour with some less expensive options. There are all kinds of other bentos and items besides sushi too. The place is very attractive. We used to frequent it when it was Bella Vita Pizza. It looks different. It has a pleasant atmosphere. He paid. So that was nice. Ill take Princess next time. She has her mama’s sushi genes. Thank God.

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Monday night. It was not very busy. However, for how few people there were, it took them a little longer than needed to take our order. Other than that, the service was excellent. The waiters were attentive and kind. One of them noticed that we ordered vegetarian options and asked if we wanted any gluten-free soy sauce. I appreciated the fact that he thought perhaps we had other dietary restrictions. The portion sizes were small. My husband ordered fried tofu and it came in a small bowl with about five pieces. The vegetable tempura was also very small in portion compared to other sushi places I’ve been to. The sushi rolls were just mediocre. It’s nothing that I couldn’t get somewhere else for better quality. It was nice that they even had vegetarian options at all. The restaurant was nice and clean. Lighting was soft and romantic. The music was too loud. I thought the TV screen in the dining area is a tacky touch. I most likely will never go back here again. We only went because it was conveniently located next to where I was getting my glasses. Our bill came out to be $ 33 and it was not worth it for how little food we got.

My experience was fine, but not particularly memorable. And if you want a fabulous sushi meal, there are better places not too far away. This is a new restaurant, with a second location expected to open in Lake Oswego in 2015. It is clean, has a good location on Baseline Road and a broad enough menu so non-sushi lovers are covered. My first visit was on their second day of business and they seemed to be fully operational. Their liquor license is in place so they offered beer, wine and sake. In addition to sushi, they cover the Asian basics: combination meals with a variety of teriyaki dishes, tempura, noodle dishes and Korean Bibimbob. I stuck to sushi and ordered one of their Special Rolls, the Sake Bomb, and a nigiri dish, Creamy Scallop. The wait staff was attentive, but it took awhile to get my food. There are about six seats at a sushi bar, with a large flat screen TV behind the chefs, and then a number of tables in two dining areas. The environment was modern, but a bit loud. The owner did a nice job of welcoming customers and checking in at tables. For a quick meal, it was fine if a bit expensive. When I’m in this area and craving sushi, my heart always takes me to Syun Izakaya in downtown Hillsboro.
