High Tide Take Out

I’m a bit sad at having to write this review. I’m a long standing customer of this restaurant. although my visits over the years have gotten fewer & fewer due to the new owners mismanagement. There was a time when this place was excellent. Unfortunately those days are gone.
I took my husband here for father’s day. We ordered the fried mushrooms & Captain’s Combo
Includes: Sea Scallops, Native Shrimp, Haddock & Clams or Clam Strips Well the Mushrooms were tiny & «sea scallops» are bay scallops. cut in half (I think the greedy new owner needed a microscope to cut those tiny creatures) native shrimp were tiny & the whole belly clams were more like clam strips. or fish bait. All this for 30 dollars. They even skimped on the fries for god’s sake ! It’s a very sad state of affairs when you stoop to cheating your decades old customers just to pocket a few pennies :(

Based purely on their ice cream… I’d never go back.
It was clear they don’t properly store their ice creams because everything was freezer burnt and shared the flavors of other ice creams.
Major let down.
It’s not difficult to prevent these problems, but clearly no one here knows how to do that… or cares.

Excellent clam strips excellent scallops really good tenders and dogs. Will be coming back, very family friendly and great foods rest service. Giffords ice cream. Nice swing set for younger kids. Screened porch eating area or outside picnic tables. They have a cruise night for old cars that looks pretty cool, not sure when but saw pictures. Went back got the clams, they are so good. I also got fried pickles so tasty.

High Tide just opened for the season in mid-​April, and I’m so excited! This place is a summer essential for me. Their food menu is primarily fried seafood. They have a lobster roll and onion rings deal going on for $ 15. I mostly come here for ice cream, though. They have flavor swirl soft serve and hard ice creams.
There’s a nice screened in porch where you can eat your food if it’s chilly or rainy. Otherwise there are picnic tables outside and a small playground for kids.

Below AV erage seasonal roadside seafood place. Since it’s close by, we eat there occasionally, but there is much better fried seafood if you are willing to drive farther. Does anyone actually eat those crappy white rolls? We used to take them with and put them outside for the birds to eat, but they wouldn’t eat them either. :) Another gripe is the layering of fries and seafood as whatever ends up on bottom layer becomes soggy. Coleslaw is OK, but smell it before you eat it as it sometimes a bit ripe. Pluses are that they serve Pepsi, have a large screen enclosed dining area, swing set and sandbox for kiddies, lots of parking and server both soft serve and scooped ice cream. Also, they have a large variety of food on their menu.
We no longer eat there.

The only reason I’m giving this place a star is because I have to in order for this review to post.
My parents and I recently got two Half and Half dinners there that used to moderately well. The food was good back then and you got good portions of everything. Now, however, the two dinners were $ 54.99 and the food was dry, overpriced, greasy, and just plain horrid. In one dinner, we received two small and dry pieces of chicken and a dozen or so clams or scallops. The rest of it was drowned in fries.
I’m completely unhappy with this visit and will not be back again. For the rising prices and the low quality you get for food, I’d rather just buy everything frozen at the grocery store for it would be better!
Never go here for food or ice cream unless you want to get screwed.

The burgers are absolutely delicious! The French fries are very good as well.
I love the atmosphere of eating outside in the screened in eating area. Very nice on a summer day! :)

Yum better the expected. We come here when visiting my parents, it’s always been good… Lobster rolls were loaded and the bun properly grilled, clam chowder was perfect and my husband fisherman platter was soo good! The fish was tender inside crispy outside and the shrimp was delicious… We finished it with ice cream… My only request is for Lobster bisque (I believe they had it last time I came?) and some improvement with ice cream choices (more toppings, like hard shell dip!)

Pleasant service, excellent food. They have a tasty selection of ice cream and pretty good burgers. Family of 5 ate for about 55.00, including drinks and ice cream. Nice playground for the kids to run off the sugar. Wait staff cleaned diligently and the owner/​manager walked around to see how everyone was and if they needed anything. Will be happy to go back regularly.

Wonderful fried clams and pleasant surroundings. Tall white pines with picnic tables and a large screened in dining area.

The food is excellent but the portions are small for what you pay! Ice cream is yummy and there is plenty of it! They aren’t stingy about condiments which is always a plus and their staff is always friendly and upbeat!

Found this place using Unilocal and it is a jewel for a seasonal family takeout of seafood and ice cream. Ate too much food to enjoy some ice cream so we will be back! Excellent onion rings!!!

Absolutely love the food and enjoy taking my kids there for ice cream as well. They enjoy playing in the little playground they have set up. I also love the fact that this past summer they added fresh fruit smoothies. I love fresh smothies.

Ahh, High Tide. I’m not sure there’s anything better than a plate of fried anything and a frosty frappé or ice cream soda to wash it down.
I love the lobster roll, but if I’m hungry I tend toward a plate of fried clams. The fried scallops, haddock, and clams are all terrific. Onion rings and fries are standard and tasty. The fried pickles are a treat — but keep in mind that one order would probably feed a table of people as an appetizer.
I’ve never ordered the non-​seafood items because… why???
Ice cream sodas get a special mention here. If you’re not familiar with this New England treat, it’s a deceptively simple combination of ice cream, milk, syrup, and seltzer. When it’s done right, it has a more complex flavor and lighter feel than a milkshake, and it just gets better as the ice cream fizzes into the seltzer. For a coffee ice cream soda, coffee syrup is key. High Tide knows this. They have the recipe taped to the wall inside so that the new hires become ice cream soda experts in no time. I love getting this old-​fashioned treat each year.
Five stars for the excellent food, friendly service, and good atmosphere.

Pretty good if you decide to eat in. Take out for fried food will end up pretty mushy. wouldn’t recommend it. Overall, tasty food that reminded me of the ocean/​beach.

During my week stay in Deering, NH my friends and I came here almost every night. Great selection of ice cream. A normal order of ice cream is very reasonably priced and the size of two large scoops.
If you aren’t hungry or only want a small scoop of ice cream, get the kid scoop and even then it might be too much!
One of my favorites was the Smore flavor — graham cracker ice cream. Yum!

Went here yesterday as a group of 7. I got the fantail shrimp dinner & OMG! The best i’d ever had-​no, really! The only reason it doesn’t get 5 star’s is do to everyone’s food not being brought out all at once. Those of us that ordered fried food got our food first but the 2 people that got the roasted chicken got there food almost 10 min. later.

Here is another example of some fine food but the sad thing is that it is only seasonal. Bad for us who are still here all winter/​good for them because they get out of here. Because it is seasonal with it’s outdoor screened in area, makes you think you are at the ocean, you really look forward to High Tide opening. If it’s chilly they have heaters they turn on.
The food is good seafood many ways. If you want to eat healthy you can, but fried food is so yummy. The people who work there are usually high school and college kids and they are all smiles and pleasant even though that place is-​a-​hoppin’ from open to close. They have a Cruise night every week that people look forward to also. It’s a nice place, good prices, and family friendly. They have an outdoor swing set and picnic tables if you don’t get taken away by the May Flies or Mosquitoes.

Had I written this review previous to my most recent visit it would have been 4 stars, but they were so slow this last time they get the downgrade.
Food– 4 Stars
Pretty much stay fried seafood. Everything else is somewhere between OK and very bad. The fried seafood rocks. The coleslaw is also good.
Service– 1 Star
Can be straight up super slow. Prepare to wait esp. at peak times.
Atmosphere– 5 Stars
