The man was very friendly when I arrived with our Dirt Devil. My husband had vacuumed over the cord (the inside wire was showing) and the beater was covered in animal fur and people hair (it’s all from my hippie husband’s receding pony tail, I’m telling you) and wasn’t doing much of anything. The man was friendly and chatty. He explained that they could replace the cord with a gently used cord and rehab/​clean the vacuum for about $ 45. He had me pay up front, which I’m not crazy about, but I ponied up the money.
I gave him our phone number and he said it would be ready in a day or two. He didn’t ever call, so when we were driving by three days later we stopped in to see if it was ready, and it was. He was waiting on other customers so we didn’t get any kind of explanation of what he did, he kind of pushed the vacuum at us and got right back to them. So we just looked at it ourselves to see that the cord wire wasn’t showing and the beater looked clean. It seems to be working fine now.
For the price, we’re happy to have our vacuum cleaned up, but we would have liked a «hey your vacuum is ready!» phone call and a little more follow up on our pick up visit. We would probably go back, since it’s close to my job, but there might be other places in town that give you a little more customer service.
He was VERY friendly and personable to the other couple who was there to buy a vacuum… maybe that’s where the money is. I imagine this kind of business is hard to keep going these days. Of course I hate vacuuming AND sewing, so maybe that’s just about me and not them.
P. S.They have a wall of various and sundry vacuum bags, so I’m guessing this is the place to find them if you’re having a hard time.
