Shades of Rose painted the interior of our home 8 years ago, and the exterior of our home 3 years ago. Rick Trudeau, the owner, and his lead Trevor, are both professional and easy to work with. During the job their painting team arrived and left on-time, and cleaned up daily. The entire quote process, scheduling and some minor warranty work have all been done promptly. I highly recommend SoR, and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Shades of Rose painted the interior of our ’65 ranch style home. They came highly recommended by our realtor. Rick, the owner, and Taylor, the supervisor, were great at organizing, communicating and coordinating with our other contractors that were working on the house at the same time. They are very competitively priced, and even though they estimated more days than other companies(they were done exactly when they promised), I believe that this extra time and care allowed them to realize that two of the areas needed a third coat of paint to completely cover the old color, which might have not been possible in less time. They also removed all the old shelves in the closets in the house, patched the holes, refinished and painted so that we had pristine closets to start over and design them to our taste. They even offered to come back after we had moved in for a final walkthrough and fix any small nicks in the walls caused as the furniture was moved in, but it seems like it won’t even be necessary. I’m very satisfied with the thorough job done by Shades of Rose.

My husband and I just purchased our first home together in Portland and the first major project we wanted to undergo was having the exterior painted. Our house was built in 1925 and obviously had lead paint as do all the houses from that time period. We needed a painter who was certified in dealing with lead paint removal. Shades of Rose had painted our neighbor’s house in our previous hood and they were very pleased with the work done. We received 4 quotes from other companies and ultimately went with Shades of Rose. Rick Trudeau was friendly, down to earth and did not come across as a sleazy car salesman as some of the other guys did. Also, a couple of the other companies said they would have to put a port-a potty on our sidewalk while completing the project, yuck! Rick said this was not necessary and thankfully we did not have to deal with a Honey Bucket parked in front of our house, phwew. Our contractor was Tyler, who we really enjoyed working with. He and his crew were professional, punctual, and quick. In the beginning they came out and put up sample colors for us to think over for a few days. We then chose our colors from Miller Paint’s Historical collection. We had 4 colors in totality used on our house with a great deal of accent and trim work and they did a beautiful job. Some of the trim/accent areas we were undecided on, so Tyler would put up one color and let us think about it overnight and then ask us the next day if we wanted to keep or change. He really helped us decide on our porch color as well and gave great advice. I am so pleased with the outcome! We cannot believe this is the same house, what a difference! We have a one year warranty on the job, so I will be sure to update the review if I have had to deal with any future problems that occur or touch ups needed with our paint.

SoR just finished painting our 90 year-old bungalow and did a great job They are certified in dealing with old houses like mine that had lead and treated it with the love and respect that 90-year olds deserve. We decided to move out of the earth tones into the sun tones. We weren’t sure what colors we wanted to do,(other than colors that popped). so I called Rick Trudeau(of SoR) and told gave him about 5 house colors, 4 trim colors and 2 accent colors. Our lead worker, Trevor, came by and put swatches of color on the house so we could see them at different times of day and weather. The little paper swatches didn’t give the same effect as when they are painted on the house. Boy, am i glad i had them do that. Some colors we thought would work, on paper, just got washed out when the sun shined on them. And now are house«pops»! What a joy on dreary and grey Portland days. Our lead worker Trevor was great in checking with us on areas that needed work, and through their work of washing, and such, were able to tell us we had no dry rot. They were prompt and cleaned up every day. I didn’t feel like I had to stay home while they were painting, i just checked in with Trevor each morning before I went off to work and was confident in the work he did and the crew he managed. We hadn’t finished some of the work on our mud porch, but because the job has a three year warranty we ca finish up our work, call them up and they will complete the task. It doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you Rick, Trevor, and Shades of Rose Painting.
