My favorite place for phở. Been to many Vietnamese reataurants, but the phở here always brings me back. The noodles are perfectly cooked and the soup is so flavorful and comforting. They give a good amount of meat as well. The spring rolls seemed to be fried differently than other places and are packed with delicious meat. Combined with the lettuce, fish sauce, and mint, it is definitely a tasty appetizer. This place is always packed on the weekends which is a sure sign of how good this place is. The servers are friendly as well. Definitely stop by if you’re looking for a phở place!

Really disappointed by this place. The spring rolls were fine, but the phở was bland. We ordered a second item that was supposed to be lemongrass chicken but instead was some sort of disgusting broth that smelled like cat pee. We won’t be going back.

2nd visit, good food but pricier compared to similar type of restaurant. Service is good and fast. My fave so far, summer roll, calamari, and rajnbow ice.

This was my first time at this place and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Beef Phở was really good especially after a work out or at night, it was flavorful but not heavy. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. They are extremely fast I was nicely surprised. Very chill ambiance and good food. They also deliver

I don’t usually go for Phở in Jersey after being spoiled by Zagat rated joints in Philly, but decided to give this well-rated Unilocal spot a try while in the area. As your typical no frills Vietnamese restaurant, we were quickly seated, provided tea, menus and I ordered my combo special Phở. My big bowl came out within 5 minutes and I was impressed with the flavor of the soup. There was a decent amount of meat to boot which left me satisfied. This is one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in NJ I would come back to for Phở.

It is a very cold day so I was totally in the mood for phở noodle soup. I Unilocaled for a good Vietnamese restaurant and saw the positive reviews so I took the chance. Let me say that I arrived here with my family at 11:45am on Sunday, Valentine’s Day. We were the 1st customers and were quickly seated. A minute later, another family came and sat on the table next to ours by the same waiter. Both tables were given hot tea as soon as we sat down. Then, the waiter came back to serve the other table first, which is very wrong but I said whatever,(his service will be evaluated and reflected on his tip). We waited for ten minutes and was ready to leave until his coworker took our order. For starters, we wanted to order banh cun cha lua, but they said they can’t make it because their kitchen isn’t stocked with the ingredients. Next, I wanted to order for my son the phở beef ball soup, but they said they don’t have beef ball so they can’t make it. Ok, really? It’s the weekend and Valentine’s Day and you should know if you’re going to have the restaurant open for business that your kitchen should be fully stocked! Anyway, I tried to let it go and order 3 phở tai(sliced beef) noodles soup for the kids and myself and anyone who is Vietnamese or eats regularly at the Vietnamese restaurant, would know that phở is generally a very quick dish to prepare. We waited for quite some time and finally it came. I wasn’t thrilled with the phở broth. It was a little bland and could use more onion shallots in the broth. Very disappointed but feeling generous and rounding the rating to two stars. They do have a parking lot so that’s the only positive point.

I’ve been to the BD#1 in Bloomfield, NJ. I tried coming here with a couple co-workers who are not familiar with Viet food. I was excited that I would be poppin cherries. We arrived at noon on a last Thursday for lunch but the door was locked. We even snuck out of work at 11:45am to get there by noon too! We checked the hour and it said they are open at 11am. I even called but no answer! I did the peek inside and the kitchen light were open. We were desperate for phở because that polar vortex was here. But, we didn’t go too far. We were gonna go to the back door and do the poop bag thing or the egg thing but I get happy writing reviews now. I would definitely call ahead to make sure they are open. If they are open. I would go as far to make sure they have all the ingredients to make your dish as well. Management does not compare here in Hillside.

Went to place based on the reviews and my love for Vietnamese food. I was disappointed with the food and service at this place. It was my first time here because I usually go to the one in Bloomfield. I gave it a shot and it was very mediocre. Came here on a Sunday shorty before noon. The place was not that busy just about three other tables. We were quickly seated on this very cold day. They do not have a screen so sitting near the door will get you chilly quickly. Don’t know if they did not receive delivery recently, but when we tried to order certain items they said they ran out. What kind of restaurant run out of items? It wasn’t exotic items anyway, they ran out of the phở beef ball soup. Next, I tried to order the Vietnamese crepes and they did not have either. I settled for the rice with grilled pork slices and egg patty. My wife and kids ordered the phở soup which came out first but my dish took extra time to come out. They were almost halfway done before I got my food. When it finally came it was luke warm and the cucumber and tomatoes were not that fresh at all. I was hungry since I did not eat breakfast so down it went. Was not the best experience but might give them another shot in the future. Hopefully, it will be a better one than this today.

Was In town for the Disney on ice and Unilocal the nearest Vietnamese restaurant and came upon this one. I gave 3 stars because the food was not great Vietnamese food. However The service was great. My food was bland. The phở broth was NOT good. We also ordered the com thit noung. It was ok. Maybe next time we’ll try the 1st one that they own.

I am highly disappointed in this joint. The last time I dined at Binh Duong, I awarded them with five stars… this time is whole other story. I ordered a traditional Vietnamese sandwich, expecting it to be ever so delicately put together that it would make me drool even thinking about it… WRONG! I paid $ 7.60(with tax) for a joke of a sandwich. The sandwich itself was slightly burnt on the edges, tasted stale, and had two super thinly sliced(so thin that I couldn’t even distinguish the type of meat it was) cha lua… I, on the other hand, am well known for distinguishing between distinctive types of meat, but seriously… I was shocked that I even paid that much for just… bread and pickled veggies(they even skimped out on the veggies as well). Wow! I sure hope they were just having a bad day because this was such a disappointment…

I was sad that I couldn’t get solid vietnamese food when I moved back here. Then, I saw a menu flyer for this place in the new Gold Valley Supermarket in Springfield. «If an Asian restaurant advertises in an Asian supermarket, then it’s probably legit,» I thought. Turns out that was a good call! So I’ve only had a few things here(summer rolls, phở ga, green papaya salad, a bite of my friend’s vermicelli, ca fe sua da), but it’s enough to declare this the best Vietnamese food I’ve had in NJ.(I don’t think I’ve been to Binh Duong I, to be fair). I used to live in a viet neighborhood, and it seriously spoiled me. This is very good, service is a little slow. No fish sauce on the table(I didn’t bother asking for it, to be fair), and there’s broccoli in the phở(I dig it, actually). Potential for five stars, I haven’t explored the menu enough. I’ll definitely come back here.

It’s good, but the original Binh Duong is better. I was seriously craving phở on Tuesday, when Binh Duong(I) is closed. So I decided to make that 20 – 30 min drive out to try the Hillside location. Décor-wise, II does look cleaner and more professional. The service was ok. Even though we were the only people in the restaurant the two staff were more interested in watching the football game on the screen and checking their phones than attending to the needs of their customers. There is an older gentleman who was more attentive and asked how our food was, but we were not impressed with the lack of care the younger staff showed in their work. The phở itself is slightly sweeter than the original Binh Duong and not as flavorful. The well-done meat in the phở was too tough, but their tendon was spot-on and actually better than Binh Duong I. From the walls, it looks like they have some reasonably-priced dinner packages for larger parties, which I wouldn’t mind trying in the future. So, overall, not a bad experience, but not a great one either. Perhaps I am just too used to the noise and hole-in-the-wall feel that is Binh Duong I, but dining here felt kind of stark and cold even with the nicer décor. Lastly, based on another review, I checked my receipt and the math was fine. Moral of the story: Take someone who said they were miffed they were charged for tapioca THEY ordered(and chose not to eat) with a grain of salt.

My go-to for Phở. Easily the best Phở I have consumed. I’m aware of their first location in Bloomfield but Bloomfield just doesn’t compare. For starters, this place has a cleaner look and is spacious. The Phở at the Hillside location seemed have a more flavorful broth and they were very generous with their serving of beef slices. Although it was late and they were about to close within the hour, the Phở was hot and didn’t have an ounce of tasting as if it had just been reheated. Yay! I also believe you can order two sizes of Phở, also a bonus. Service was quick and friendly. They even have a few fresh lobsters hanging around just waiting to be devoured. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Television entertainment. Delicious Phở!

When we first arrived, there were only a few tables being served. Since there was only one guy working the floor, we waited about 5 minutes to be greeted and seated… Another wait to have our order taken… Summer roll portion is so small for $ 5. They’re good, but feel like I should’ve received more at that price. Rare beef phở was a miss for me… Did not like the broth but the beef and noodles were fine. Boyfriend had the vermicelli with pork and spring rolls, which he ate up. Prices are reasonable for the entrees. We waited about 20 – 25 minutes for our bill, which never came. We ended up leaving money on the table and walking out. They only had 2 people on the floor with a full restaurant so service was slow and nonexistent. Will continue to go to our usual Vietnamese place in East Hanover.

Wow! So I’m recovering from a cold, 3 months pregnant, and really wanted some phở. After easily parking and arriving, we were seated immediately and given a delicious, warm teapot for the table. I started with #11– The Shrimp and Papaya Salad as well as #2– Summer Rolls. The slightly sweet and sour marinade on the fresh papaya, carrots, and shrimp gave the salad such bright flavors– I could eat this all day. The Summer Rolls were also bright, fresh, and yummy with shrimp, pork, vermicelli, bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, and shredded lettuce with a precious, sweet peanut dipping sauce. Then I had #13– the super fresh and satisfying House Combo Phở large size with loads of rare beef, well done beef, brisket, tender tendon, and tripe in a Vietnamese beef broth with vermicelli noodles, bean sprouts, basil, and lime. Other condiments like hot sauce and soy sauce were on the table. Their House Special Combination Fried Rice(#L14) was just killer and can last a couple meals by itself with a mega-flavorful mix of peas, carrots, a Chinese-type sweet sausage, egg, seasoned fried tofu, and mini shrimp. For a treat, I had an addictively refreshing Durian Milkshake(#107) with very natural flavors and soft, bouncy boba(large tapioca pearls) while other fruit choices were avocado, jack fruit, and sour sop among others. I also eyed this«Rainbow» treat of sweet red beans, green beans, and Jello listed on the wall, but had no room left… this time. While I wish they gave us water, everything else made up for it. Really amazing… really 4.5 stars.

Trying to explore North Jersey and desperate to find authentic Asian cuisine, we found Binh Duong via Unilocal and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. The biggest thing I was happy to see was the amazingly CLEAN fish tanks in the back with lively fish swimming around. Kudos to the owners! We ordered spring rolls and 2 phở. The spring rolls were a little tough, but not bad. The phở broth was a little bland, but still good enough to satisfy. Both phos were plentiful and filled us up. We’ll definitely be back!

If you’re familiar with Binh Duong in Bloomfield, then you’d be happy to know they opened a second location in Hillside. It is located in a strip mall(by A&J Seabra’s) along Liberty Ave. I’ve been a frequent customer here since they’ve opened and taken over the old Siagon Grill. We always get the spring rolls on every visit. can’t get enough of them honestly. Typically, I either get phở(rare beef or pork chop) or the grilled pork chop with rice. The broth of the phở is very good and flavorful. They definitely are one of the best phở in NJ(if not, the best). I’ve also had their curry chicken with baguette, egg noodles with fish balls and. They have a pretty extensive menu that I have yet to tackle more dishes(especially since I just can’t help but get my usual) but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything from here. I’ve frequently thought about wanting Binh Duong food in the past but didn’t want to have to drive 20 minutes away. Now, I can get great Vietnamese food just 2 minutes away from me! FYI, they also do delivery.

I’ve been craving some Vietnamese food and this hit the spot. The food is fresh and authentic. However they don’t use nearly as much fish sauce as what you’d find in Vietnam which is fine with me. Fish sauce is an acquired taste that I’ve yet to acquire. The summer rolls have a fresh snap and excellent taste. The Phở(pronounced«fuh») soups are great. I got one with a generous amount of shrimp, squid, and surimi for $ 8. I’ll definitely be back.

I was here on the fourth day after their grand opening – returned multiple times since then – and was kindly greeted by Sammy and everyone else. Saigon Grill was good, but I was looking for a little more. This is the second branch of Binh Duong(first branch is in Bloomfield). Goi Cuon/“Summer Rolls”($ 4.95): They’re nicely made every time. Each order comes with two rolls stuffed with plenty of noodles, vegetables, and pork; it comes with a small bowl of peanut sauce. It’s easy to eat; the wrapper is not chewy at all. If you’re sharing, you might want to ask for the rolls to be sliced in half. Phở Xe Lua($ 8.95): This is the XL-sized(largest) bowl of phở. There are plenty of rice noodles, an assortment of tender meat(including tripe), and broth in a huge white bowl. Like other noodle soups I’ve ordered, it’s served piping hot. The bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos, and lemon are served on the side. Bun Bo Hue($ 8.95): It’s certainly an upgrade over the Bun Bo Hue(Spicy Hue-style beef and pork noodle soup) during the Saigon Grill days. It’s much more flavorful and was a bigger portion – XL is the only size. The fish sauce taste was pretty strong but not overpowering, while the flank and gio heo were really tender! As was the case before, it doesn’t come with tripe or blood cakes but it was still good. Mi Thap Cam($ 8.50): As common as Hu Tieu is, I haven’t tried any variation of it until now. This is a noodle soup with a variety of seafood and slices of pork in a chicken broth with egg noodles. The broth was savory; slightly salty, but not unbearable. The egg noodles were cooked perfectly. I would have liked it if I received more pork, but there was plenty of seafood to compensate. Banh Mi Dac Biet($ 6): YES! I don’t need to drive all the way to Edison anymore! When I ordered banh mi, Sammy said it wasn’t on the menu but he would make three of them special for me. The sandwiches were huge and the baguette had the tough-chewiness that I always look for. There was plenty of pâté and a pretty good amount of meat. It may seem pricey, but the sandwich is pretty big and tastes great; plus, only a few Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to in NJ serve Banh Mi Dac Biet. It’s now on the«special menu» hanging on the wall. My only gripe is that I found the food to be a bit pricey. Still, I always enjoy the food here. I’ll be coming back often.
