Javi’s Hilmar Mexican Restaurant

I have been here 3 plus times. The food has been consistent and good every single visit. Great customer service! I will keep coming back.

Never in my 36 years of existence have I ever been refused service or told to leave a restaurant or a business and never come back not even a bar on my drunkest days but today my coworkers and I visited javis for lunch as we have on many of occasions. To make a long story short and not bore you with all the details our food was made wrong we simply asked for it to be fixed we got our checks I realize that I was charged for an extra item I brought it to the waitresses attention I could tell she was irritated as she stormed off with my card, a few minutes later the owner walks up with her and tells us there will be no charge for our food today that we are to leave his restaurant and never come back mind you this is lunch hour in a restaurant with quite a few people, after my coworkers and I were referred to as «you people» we gladly took our cards back and left. Stupid right? Almost sounds like a joke! But I assure you its not we were treated horribly and embarrassed we order lunch there quite a bit for our office I visit there with my family and friends I can tell you that I will never step foot in that place again they were clearly short handed and having a bad day. But that does not excuse the way we were treated. I called the owner on my way home and try to have a professional conversation but he wasn’t having it. I’ve never had a bad experience at this restaurant until today but it will be the last experience I have that’s for sure!

Food tastes raw, especially the chicken. If you are a chicken fan, do not come here, the chicken they use tastes so fake and unreal. I ordered a burrito and asked for pinto beans, the lady that took my order was day dreaming half the time, and still messed up my order. The food taste nothing like authentic mexican food, Taco Trucks are way better. Not Reccomended.

Amazing service, even though there Wasent many people there. Best Long Island I have ever had. All I ever order is long islands they told me it was the strongest one they have ever made –pretty sweet. Awsome pico and good chips and salsa. Normal prices with above normal food and service. And the waitress was cute and friendly which is always a bonus.

Service great. Clean and well kept up.
Tapatipos we had for lunch were very good.
Will be back when in area.

Hilmar hot spot. Food is alright. Great bartenders! Sandy makes the BEST Tecate cheladas! They close too early though.

Worst mexican food I have ever had. Their happy hour taquitos are legit those boxed ones just microwaved (I know I had some at home).There regular food is no better. idk the food is just gross. The bar is nice though… The closing at 9pm is strange for a bar… That is kind of lame

Not the BEST taste wise but I’m picky when it comes to Mexican food. It definitely gets the job done though. They allow you to call ahead & order & it’s always super fast. Good portion sizes & polite employees. I eat there about 3 times a month bc I work in Hilmar!

I’ve been to Javi’s numerous times, and it’s been really good. The food is authentic, and flavorful. Any time I go to a Mexican restaurant I make sure I try their Carnitas it’s my personal measuring stick when it comes to Mexican Resturants. Javi’s ranks right up there.
The Staff is pretty nice, they promptly bring you refills on your chips, Salsa, and refreshments. When ordering plates, Carnitas, or Fajitas, any plate that comes with tortillas. Make note you only get 3 corn, or 2 flour tortillas. That’s it. You can probably get more for a fee, but that’s the normal unrequested amount you get. I think it’s skimpy but that’s just my opinion. Other than that, I haven’t had a bad experience yet.

Been here many times for dinner and it can be hit or miss. Their Salsa Verde is not very flavorful at all and I usually end up using their hot salsa that comes with the chips on my tacos. Service is usually pretty good and the bar area is nice and there are a lot of TV’s.
There are usually a lot of people there on Saturdays as it is the only bar in town with a DJ, so if you want to people watch, and you happen to find yourself in Hilmar you know where to go.

I ate at Javi’s in Hilmar today. It has been a few years since I ate there. It use to be my favorite Mexican Restaurant. However today’s experience was horrible. My lemonade was watered down, my carne asada burrito was tasteless. I ask for extra green sauce to poor over the burrito in hopes it would give it more flavor but no such luck. The green sauce was really thin and tasteless. The carne asada was really fatty. My mom asked for her tamales dry and they came out soaked in sauce. I told the waitress and all she said was that’s right. No apology, no offering to bring her another one. My mom ate the tamale the way it was. And I agree with the review that the waitresses hide behind the fish tank. Ohh and the chips have changed too or they are no longer serving fresh chips. Unless I have no other choice in the matter I will not be going back.

This restaurant is good to real good. The portions are plentiful and the food itself is freshly made. I get the chicken ala mexicana and it is my favorite dish there. My wife has the chicken burrito supreme. We Aleta have a great experience at this restaurant. I haven’t tried all things on the menu, but the enchilladas, milanesas, chimichangas, and the items previously mentioned and great.

well i think this is the only mexican place in this town– we had dome business to do in Hilmar and decided to eat local. well the service not that great– the waitresses hide behind the fishtank (or whatever it was) so there was a few times we had to flag them down to order food get water refills etc. good portions but the food is not of great quality. I’d rather go home and eat a can of pinto beans in a tortilla.
