Eric Alt Salon

After over three years I finally decided it was time to get my hair cut. My hair is very thin, bleach damaged, and I had inches of split ends. I was nervous to get my cut done because I didn’t want to lose what little length I had but my hair was breaking and splitting that I had to face my fear and just do it. I came across Christina, one of the hair stylists who works for Eric Alt Salon, on Facebook. She was a Facebook friend of mine and we attended the same high school although she graduated before I did. I immediately fell in love with the photos of the work she had done on previous clients. You should check her instagram or facebook out for that if your hesitant I promise they’re beautiful. So I decided to Facebook message her because I was hesitant about getting my hair cut. She answered me immediately and gave me prices. She was patient with me booking an appointment because I have a fluctuating work schedule. She even told me when I had a strict lower budget that I could get the service for money off. I booked with her and the moment we started the appointment she was friendly, informative, and really attentive with my hair. She told me everything she was going to do and why and listened to what I wanted. She suggested coloring my hair and respected my decision to deny that which was refreshing because every salon Ive been to tries to push products and services on you. She spent a lot more time then I expected washing, cutting, and blowing out my hair. I have such thin hair that I never had anyone work for more than a max of 15 – 20 mins on it. She made me feel awesome about my hair like it could be salvaged lol. At the end I absolutely loved it. My hair feels thicker, healthier, and it doesn’t tangle into one big knot like it used to. For a regular haircut with a wash, cut, and blow dry its $ 65 which is pretty steep for me and is why unfortunately is the only reason I’d hesitate to go back. She offered me a new customer discount which you can ask about and ended up paying $ 30 before tip for the whole service.
In summary-​if you’re looking for a beautiful haircut and for your hair to feel like its being spoiled I recommend you call Eric Alt Salon and ask for Christina Kim she’s not only great at cutting the hair but her coloring techniques are beautiful !

This place is awesome! It was my first time getting my hair done at a salon, and Christine walked me through the whole thing. She listened to what I wanted and made recommendations based on what’s best for my hair. I would definitely recommend this salon to any of my friends! I got red highlights, and the color is very vibrant. I will return again!

Five are not enough stars to give Eric and his team of amazing, customer-​focused professionals. To preface, I have lived all over the US and in many places in Europe, so I have had to change salons and colonists many times over, which means I have plenty of experience. Given that fact, I can sincerely say that I have never had a better colorist than Eric Alt or a better experience in any salon.
First, Eric absolutely saved my hair. I came to him after a string of terrible coloring experiences (3 to be exact), which left my hair damaged, brittle and a shade of greenish blonde that only a mother could love. I really thought that it was going to be impossible to salvage anything, much less get it to any kind of reasonable color before it all grew out (or fell out). I was absolutely amazed at what Eric was able to do. He took my hair from striped and ashy to a beautiful shade of golden blonde, which was crazy given how much my hair had endured over that past month. I really couldn’t believe it was possible and now only believe that it was possible because of Eric’s incredible skill and talent.
Not only is Eric the consummate professional when actually coloring and cutting your hair, but the level of pride he takes in his work is beyond admirable. In a world where people do just the minimum to get by and rarely care about their customers, Eric stands out like a beacon of light and hope. He knows more about hair than any person should, frankly and has a passion for what he does that emanates from him like a colorful aura. He tells you what he is doing and what to expect every step of the way, making even the most nervous Nellies (i.e., me) feel safe and comfortable in his chair.
I can go on and on about his amazing team and incredible customer service, which includes signature tea and biscuits (really!), and just the kindest staff around. His products are amazing and I use everything he recommends, because, well… He always seems to be right.
Bottom line is that I have never had a better hair dresser/​colorist or felt more pampered and taken care of in any salon I’ve ever visited. Kudos, Eric, for your incredible work. You are truly one of a kind.

I just got the best haircut and color of my life! Took a bold step and cut off my long hair to shoulder length and went from very blonde to «brownde». Eric did both my color and cut, and my friends and colleagues are freaking out about how great it looks! People say I look 10 years younger! So happy with the results and cannot thank Eric enough for the transformation!

Kim is by far the best stylist I’ve ever had the opportunity to encounter. Being a former touring musician, I’ve had the honor of working with many, but she stands out alone at the top. I recommend Eric Alt Salon & Kim-​Marie! I’ve been going to Kim for a couple of years now and she always keeps my hair healthy and looking good! She not only gives you a phenomenal hair cut but she does fabulous color applications as well! Each time I’ve changed my hair color or my hair style I always get compliments! She provides excellent customer service and is professional in all of her dealings. If you’re looking for a stylist who will be working with the stars, she’s your girl!

I’m of Hispanic descent and I have very curly hair. I have always feared hair salons because of scissor happy stylists, or stylists who don’t actually do what I ask. Until I met Kim-​Marie!!! When she first cut my hair I instantly fell in love! It was the length I wanted, and it looked exactly as I asked. Since then she has given me highlights, colored my hair blonde, brought me back to black, and she is the ONLY one allowed to bring scissors to my hair. She is honest with you, and she loves what she does! Nothing better than that :))))

Let me start of by saying that I am very anal when it comes to my hair. I’ve been to numerous salons/​stylist around the area. Not one person manage to cut or color my hair the way I envisioned it. After years of looking for a stylist I came to Eric Alt Salon and got my hair done by Kim Marie and she did exactly what I asked for. I usually don’t allow people to touch my hair after all the horrible experiences I’ve had, but she was amazing! She’s the only person I go to for a trim because she never gets scissor happy unlike other stylist. If you tell her to take an inch of and keep the length, she’ll do exactly that. So if you’re looking for a stylist I would definitely recommend her!

I came here for color and cut with Christina Kim. She was professional and we discussed what I was looking for. My color came out perfect and shiny and my cut was great! I have curly hair that is not easy to cut, she took her time and I could not be happier! Can’t wait to return in 6 weeks! Thank you Christina! !

Eric is amazing!!! He took my hair from «too blonde» and unnatural to perfection! Back in the spring I went to a stylist in the city to get my hair baylaged. He completely turned my hair into this brassy, awful blonde. Eric saved my hair!!! It’s super healthy now and looks amazing. 110% recommend his salon.

The salon is beautiful, the staff is super nice, and I got the perfect cut and color. Eric was able to achieve the exact specific look I wanted, and made me feel very comfortable. I am OBSESSED with how my hair turned out and I will definitely be back.

I had my first experience at Eric Alt Salon’s Ho-​Ho-​Kus location this past Saturday 9÷12÷15. I had been debating about smoothing treatments and after speaking with Eric, he put my mind at ease about his Alt-​ernative Keratin Smoothing System. I decided to give it a try and was thrilled with the results. Kim was wonderful and Eric put the finishing touches with a fabulous cut. I’ve had so many compliments on my hair — I never realized the impact this would have. The first person to see me was my boyfriend as he waited in the car to pick me up. He thought I looked amazing! I’m sure I’ll be back again soon!

While I rarely check out a new place without first consulting Unilocal,I have yet to feel the urge to review — until today that is! Tonight I walked out of Eric Alt salon with perfect «I spent the summer at the beach» blond highlights done by Brittany and I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience — Salon, staff, and fabulous hair.
First off, I shouldn’t be calling them highlights. The technique she used is called hair painting and the effect is a beautiful natural ebb and flow of blond sunniness in my light brown hair. Brittany asked a lot of questions about what I was looking for color wise, what my hair routine is like, and how I usually style it before she got to work, which I really appreciated, and the end result is absolute perfection.
Tonight I also had the pleasure of meeting Eric Alt, and I agree with a previous reviewer who called him a humble genius. He and his staff are professional, friendly, and ridiculously good at what they do.
If you are looking for a new salon or a great colorist, look no further than Eric Alt Salon and Brittany! You won’t be disappointed!

I called to book an appointment and the person who answered the phone did not answer my initial hello and questions, including a request to make an appointment. It was very awkward, so I said I will call back. I came to this page to see what others think, but after seeing Eric A. himself make excuse after excuse for the salon’s poor customer service in reply to complaints, I will find another salon in the area that treats guests the way I treat my internal and external clients as Corporate Counsel at my international corporation. I will also tell my numerous colleagues, family and friends about this experience.

I have been going to Eric Alt Salon since high school! I always went to Wood Ridge, but now my girl Olivia went to Hohokus and I followed her there cause she is that good! The salon is beautiful and it’s in such a cute little town. Even though it’s technically out of my way I still drive because Olivia is that great! She even has me going to the saddle River location on Tuesdays! She is honestly the best with blondes! I have tried other people but will only go to her from now on!

I first came to Eric Alt salon in Ho Ho Kus for their blow out service. The stylist who worked on me was Kim Marie. She did an excellent job on my hair and I started speaking to her about how tired I was with my long hair and I explained to her what I wanted to do.
Fast forward a few weeks and I now have a beautiful bob. Kim cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and I have already been back a few times to have her color my hair.
I definitely recommend this salon, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I have been going to Eric Alt Salon for over 15 years and this was the first time I was in the Hohokus Location to have my hair done. Eric was in Los Angeles working with the colorist that does Jennifer Anniston and Jennifer Lopez and he recommended that I see Olivia his sister. I am so so happy with the work she did. I was nervous because all these years only Eric has done my hair. Olivia is a super talented girl. I would absolutely be seeing her and Eric again.
The salon was very pleasant and well decorated. It is way bigger inside than it looks from outside. I felt like I was in a boutique hotel. Everything from the coconut tea to the music were great.
My hair is dark brown and I had Olivia paint in a few highlights. I LOVE the result.
